View 6 RepliesI'm on a PC with XP spk3 and my broadband speed is 30+ Mb. In any browser, if I go to Vimeo, Youtube etc and watch higher quality vids I get terrible stuttering of picture and sound, really bad crackling and warbling and drop outs. But, if I download the same vids, they play fine on my computer. I've updated everything I can think of and there is no improvement. My machine is old and slow but this problem started just the other day and it was bad from the start. It didn't gradually creep up.I'm at a loss.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI do a lot of gaming, as does my fiance. We've gone through Time Warner and Suddenlink without problems that weren't fixable. Over the past 2 weeks with WOW! we noticed our games will stutter for a second about ever 10-15 seconds, sometimes less. I called them and told them the problem and they told me, after saying everything is good on their end, to get the port numbers for the games so the can add them to "something I stopped paying attention to after thinking this is BS".
I've never had to do this at any other ISP in any other location, so why do they need it? Is there something else it could be? My DL is showing up at 15.85 and UL is 1.11... 25 ping.
I have like 1mbps atm...my plan states 2-3 mbps but I think it's because I'm in a 3G neighborhood or something...can you tell me what I need for League of Legends, like 2-3 MBPS?

When I use the wireless connection the "Connection Status" shows as 72Mbps, which is to be expected considering I am only a few feet from the router.the speed is nothing like that in reality. I tested the actual transfer speeds for the wired and wireless connections by copying a 238MB folder with 77 photos in it. I copied it from the NAS device, where I store all my files, to the local disk of the netbook.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E1550 Wireless Router that is fast as can be on the wired connection, getting 30mbs from the cable modem connection. If I switch to using wireless on the same PC, the max connection speed I'll get is 2mbs. I've changed all sorts of settings trying to get this working right, and it still stays at 2mbs.As an additional note, this router was previously working fine at 30mbs on wireless as well, then out of nowhere this weekend, it started running at 2mbs. I went and purchased another of the same model and it is doing the same thing as well.
What is the secret to having this run at it's correct speed, not this slow 2mbs that it is now? I have configured this the same as every other Linksys router I've had in the past, and it is running horribly slow..I'm on the newest firmware as well, have already verified that. The old router was updated to newest firmware as testing to resolve this, and the new router came with it installed already.
I've been having trouble recently with the buffer speeds on youtube.. i use google chrome, and i have a custom built pc with high end specsmy internet connection ranges from 50mb/s to 90mb/s as shown below(i pay for 100mb/s with virgin media, but the speed varies a lot throughout the day)I run a wired connection and have tested different cables, with no success.If i clear catche/browser history ECT i get a short-term buffer speed boost, but after a few minutes the buffering becomes super slow again.people in the same house are having there videos load instantly, with computer no were near as good hardware wise as mine and using a wireless connection.i've tried a few things.. none of witch have worked.. with my speeds i should be able to watch videos in HD and have them buffer instantly.. at this point i cant even watch them in 320p.

Whenever I start skype or try to start a video chat on aim/facebook, it fails and my internet disconnects for everyone. I don't know what could be wrong. Using the same wireless internet, my friends are able to video chat on their macbooks. It seems like my computer is the only one that can't video chat. Video chatting works when I use a sprint internet card. I have a sony vaio laptop running on windows 7. Our router in our apartment at school is a D-link wireless N? Some Pc users (192.168.1.133,in the log) with ASA Lan Interface as gateway can ping the Camera but don't receveive the video flow.Some Pc users (192.168.1.116,in the log) using another gateway can ping and receive the video flow. I used Whireshark to capture traffic between camera and Pc using the 2 gateway. I joined Logs with this message.It seems to be a problem of TCP segments on the ASA, I try to changed some TCP options but it's still the same:- Disable Force Maximum Segment Size- Enable Force TCP Connection to Linger in TIME_WAIT State for at Least 15 Second.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having wireless connection/internet issues that are irritating me to the core!!! I have called tech support 4 times now, and I still can't get everything to play nice...I have the 655 set up as a wireless router to a Windows 7 laptop, one iPad, two iTouches, and one N3DS. I can't find a setting that will work with all devices. Here are the senarios...
1) Settings: Wireless enabled, 802.11n only, Auto Scan off-channel set to 1, Best Transmission rate, Channel Width Auto 20/40, Visible, Auto WPA Mode with AES Cipher and a pre-share key. This yields fantastic results with my laptop, it can stream video for entire episodes, and I have no problems with loading webpages in either IE or Firefox. However, it does not support the kids iTouches or N3DS.
2) Changed the above to mixed 802.11n/g AND ALSO tried 802.11 only: iTouches work and can connect to the internet, but laptop doesn't like it. I get "Problem loading webpage" every other time I access and website, and streaming stop every 5-6 minutes. Bars indicate wireless signal is strong, but intermittently get that yellow triangle.
I have only seen this problem with several video conferences from one location. Currently there is only one T1 connection from our HQ to remote location. When two conference calls are set to use 256Kbps connection to come back to the main HQ, after an hour or so the T1 connection would drop. What I mean about drop is that the route on the 2911 will disappear. I have to wait about 10 minutes for the connection to come back up or I have to reboot the router for the connection to appear again. There are no interface drops on the serial connections or ethernet connections.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a 10 Mbps Internet connection, if I connect my PC directly to my modem I get the 10Mbps sometimes more, also I get them if I connect my modem to my switch and from the switch the computer.The problem comes when I connect my modem to the D-link DIR-600 router and from the RJ-45 connectors of the D-link I connect my computer, i get 0.80, 1.5 max. and my wifi devices gets the 10mbps. What is happening with the D-link RJ-45 slots or im missing something in the configuration?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have 2 PCs that are directly connected to each other via a 1Gbs Cat6 connection.I don't currently have a 1Gbs router so what I am doing right now is unhooking this connection and reconnecting both machines to my router when I need internet access. I have ordered some USB Wi-Fi adapters so I can have both machines access the internet that way whilst still use FTP between them on the 1Gbs line.If I were to scrap that idea and get a 1Gbs hub, connect both PCs straight into that, and then also connect the hub to my 100mbits router, would the 2 computers be able to communicate with each other at 1Gbs and then talk to the router at 100mbits, or would the whole network run at 100mbits.I don't really want to have to shell out on a 1Gbs router as I don't need anything else on the network to run at that speed.

View 12 Replies View RelatedEarlier today Comcast came to our house and upgraded our internet from 12 MB/s to 22 mb/s speed.We have a larger house using wifi internet with 3 laptops (2 XP, 1 Win7).Our wifi has always slowed down speeds on the computers.Our laptops were generally getting 3-6 download speed via speedtest.net.Then when we plugged in directly we got full 12 mb/s.So we figured, hey lets upgrade our internet to get faster speeds around the house!Today we are doing speed tests with the new 22mb/s and only my dad's win-7 laptop is getting 21mb/s via wifi. Even when right next to the router the other 2 laptops only max out at 6mb/s and can not go any higher. When directly connected they get the full 22mb/s.
why is it that one computer gets full speed via wifi when the 2 XP computers do not? It really seems like the speed has a cap at 6.35mb/s download, never goes higher on the speed test.Currently using a Linksys WRT160N Router.When I check the DHCP Client Table it shows that all computers are connected via Wireless-G so it's not a connection type.Is there a specific setting on the XP computers that are capping speed?
i have a laptop that i connect through our wireless router with, and for the past couple months my download speed have been terrible. my browsing speed is just as fast as it always was when i am connected to our router, just incredibly slow if i try to download or stream something.however, my downstairs neighbor also has a wireless router set up that i can access which gives me incredible download speeds but my cant even browse the internet because i the browser connection times out.i have tried plugging directly into my router to on the thought that perhaps the 2 routers' wireless was somehow interfering with each other, but my download speeds are still *** even then.

Both Toshiba laptops used to be able to attain this but after reinstalling windows xp on this laptop, it can only achieve 8mb/s. The other laptop will get 20 mb/s whether connected wired or wireless. For the life of me cannot figure what has changed. I have installed all windows updates including SP3 and updated all drivers via Toshiba website. It uses the Intel 3945b/g network card and the router is a motorola sbg 6580.Connecting wired will achieve 20mb/s so it has something to do with the wireless setup.Have tried connecting to router with WPA, WPA2, and no encryption but makes no difference.Testing right beside the router or 30ft away makes no difference.Have uninstalled/reinstalled network card but made no difference
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently acquired a laptop from a friend, he was having problems with it and decided to just give it away and buy a new one, I took and it examined the problem, it is a HP Pavillion laptop running on Windows 7.When I booted it up it said "NO BOOTABLE DISK" or "NO BOOTDISK INSTALLED" or something of that nature.I realized that the harrdrive was fried so I bought a new harrdrive and installed it into the new laptop, reinstalled Windows 7 onto the laptop and installed all the required drivers.I don't understand why, my old laptop running on Windows XP, it runs fine and smoothly, pages open quick and downloads finishing fast and smoothly.But when it comes to the Windows 7 laptop, A 2mb file takes almost 30 mins just to download, web pages take forever to open up.

1. Is fast and easy, like sharing files on a local network with gigabit hardware. Why not do exactly that? (see next point)
2. Has a permanent address to access the files, as if it were hosted on a website. The reason for this is the software I will be using to point to these files does not use relative paths. If it did use relative paths, I was simply going to setup a shared dropbox with all the files, but alas, that does not work. I want this solution to be future proof, so that no matter how much I change my setup, the file paths that my software is looking at will always remain the same.
3. (optional, but preferred) Ability to automatically backup these files. Like an rsync with amazon S3 or something.I am guessing there is a simple and widely used solution to this, like an ftp setup, just not sure how it all works.

Controllers are setup identically and we are radius authenticating users to AD via the ACS. Everything works great on the primary controller, but when I test failover to the secondary controller, my authentication fails and I get the following error message in my ACS logs:

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have been having trouble forwarding ports for different softwares and servers. I just upgraded my internet and my ISP sent me a new modem/router all in one. I am using a wired setup to my desktop. The router I am using is Sagem FAST 1704.
My ISP told me that they only give support for game consoles, the dumbest thing I ever heard since I don't pay for their internet so I can play games. Cannot forward a simple port. Port 100 in specific.
When I forward ports, I am certain that I'm typing in the right Ip address digit because I checked ipconfig. Then I check the 'canyouseeme' website and it tells me that the port is not open on my ip address. I have tried other means of checking to see if the port is open but they all tell me the port is closed. Once in awhile the port will be open but most of the time it isn't.
I plug in my older modems and it doesn't make a difference when I re-set up the port forwarding to the new IP so I guess it isn't a problem with the modem or router. I changed all my ethernet and phone cords and filters as well. My isp told me that they do not block ports.
My isp is Windstream. I cannot set up a static IP in network connections because when I do the internet doesn't work at all even if I set the exact same settings that are currently set. This happens with both modems I have. I do not use two devices at one time just the modem or the modem/router, there are no other computers connected and filters are on all phones/satellites. I am using Windows XP, not sure what other info you will need.
My isp keeps telling me they do not support setting up vpn's. I do not need support for that I just want to open a port. lol the next thing they told me is, you guessed it, "We do not support setting up VPN please contact your work IT........" which doesn't exist. I spoke to three of them and they all said the same thing, except one told me they were going to open ALL ports for me. That didn't happen.

However, if I try loading the same webpages a few minutes later, they will being loading fast again. It seems as if my internet is periodically slowing down. Using speedtest.net, it shows 10Mbps download and 9Mbps upload. However, sometimes when I run speedtest again, the download portion will hang and the test won't complete.My internet provider is COX Communications. I do not think I am using a router as it is university provided internet so I connect my Ethernet directly into the wall jack.
