I'm having the problem to playback video files from Media Server on Samsung TV.And i found out the problem, that media server showing video files without extensions as avi or mp4.Windows Player somehow recognize video codec and container without extensions, but Samsung TV doesn't.

I have set up the router with a USB FAT32 Stick 8gb shared six folders with about 5gb of music inside the server only streams the first folder to the network and inside that folder all the MP3 files and another 2 sub folders but not others. Whats the reason for this is there a limit to the amount of files that can be shared if so this should be made clear in your

I have a machine called 'survtest' on my lan with a permanent ip addr of 192.168.0.112. I can't ping that host by name from any other machine on the lan, although I can ping the ip address. Not only that but this machine appears in the DHCP client list within the router with its name 'survtest' and correct IP addr.
There is another machine on the lan called 'bsd' that also has a permanent IP addr of 192.168.0.110. It can be pinged by name from any other machine on the lan. However it does not show up in the DHCP client list at all.
Neither of these machines can be pinged by name from within the tplink admin diagnostic screen.

I have a WR842ND with firmware 3.12.22 Build 120424 Rel.39632n. I can't seem to get the mail log emailed out. I've tried hotmail, gmail and ISP email ids. I know these will work as I've done it with my NAS and other routers. When I'm in the System Tools/System Logs/Mail Settings I have authentication enabled and I know I've put in the proper information including mail server outgoing mail names EG. smtp.live.com for hotmail.
I don't see any place to identify a non standard port IE. not port 25, to use. So when I try to send I get the Userid or password is wrong message. Do I have to configure something else.

I bought TL-WR1042ND and I have problem. After 2 hours, the router loses all connections. Lights that everything is OK, but he can not connect to any site on the Internet or LAN. Even nor to 192.168.0.1 Only search for the host.
I have a DHCP internet. DNS 8.8.8.8 I disabled firewall and all I do not need, but nothing worked.

The Media Server feature is quite nice to have but the fact that it is limited to 100 files is a joke. I have a 2TB drive pugged into this router's USB port with hundreds of video files and even more mp3s. Is there any chance that in a future firmware this limit to be removed or at least increased to say 1000?

I had it all working fine, then I wanted to upgrade the firmware. The original firmware was 3-14-4. I downloaded and applied the 3-15-4 firmware. Now when it powers on the power light is on all the time. Immediately the sys, 4, 3, 2, 1, Internet, usb and wps lights flash once. Then about 5 seconds later the 4, 3, 2, 1 & Internet lights flash once, then a second later the cycle starts again. When I connect it to the PC it starts to make a connection on the NIC, but then the router resets. Model: TL-WR1042ND, Ver 1.3 . Is there a way to reset the firmware or get it working again?

I have read how to configure the Virtual Servers - Forwarding url...and added two entries, one for port 44612 and one for 32680 , my pc ip is 192.168.0. 100.Before I installed the router (my pc was connected directly to the lan connection) all was working just fine.And I double checked that the ports are not being blocked by firewall.

I have a wired connection to 12 MBs and is very stable.My problem is that the download speed becomes 12MBs to 2MBs without apparent reason.It is fixes if you restart the router.Here will show you the optimal speed of connection.

I have the WDR-3600 with a usb drive. I have updated to latest firmware 3.13.26. I am having problems with the media server. I have 331 folders shared in the Music folder. When I access it via the DLNA it will only show the first 123 folders. I can access all of the folders via network share but not via the media server. I have checked this on my music player and my android phone and tablet. Both of them can only see the first 123 folders.

1. On my laptop in windows vista media player I cant see any shared media of media server TP-WDR3600: screen.jpg
2. My samsung tv shows all three shared folders of media server. When I try to play any Mp3 and avi files it says unsuported file format. In folder with jpg photos it shows nothing. I can see and play anything from my laptop media server on TV.

I can access the USB storage via FTP, but I wanted to access files using a Windows Explorer format. Also, anyone access the Media share ? Manual tells you how to setup the USB functions but not how to access from a PC.

Everything seems so good until I setting up the printer server. Resources CD contains the "USB Print Service Client Setup" but the User Guide said that I have to install "TP-LINK USB Printer Controller Setup". First, I tried to install "USB Print Service Client Setup", nothing change but a small icon in taskbar allow me to start and stop service, no dialog box said me how to install printer driver. I look in tp-link website and get "TP-LINK USB Printer Controller Setup", install it but it can not detect my printer. But the HL-2040 is, and the differences between the two are minimal. However, the TP-Link printer utility does not see the printer and the network scanner function is grayed out.

I've enabled the Media Server on my E3000 router. My PS3 can see the server and play media from it by my PCs can't!
I'm using Windows Media Player v 12.0 on Windows 7 and some older version on Windows XP and it's my understanding that the Media Server should appear under the "Other Libraries" section but it does not.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a bug in the E3000 firmware (I have the latest as of this date) or is the Media Server simply not compatible with Windows Media Player? compatible media player for Windows 7?
I did read a post about a firmware upgrade on the 4200 that broke the media player, but I don't know if such a problem exists for the E3000.

I recently purchased a tl-wr842nd, my printer is a hp laserjet 1020 and it is in the compatible list as I seen. The problem is that I connect the printer in the usb routers port and the led do not light up, I tried putting my pendrive to see if the usb routers port wasn't working but it does since the pendrive is accepted and online and the usb led lights.I downloaded and installed the latest firmware but there's no change, I did everything like it saids in the faq 415 where it explains how to install and use printer server with no luck.

Set up the WDR4300 with a USB drive connected (Platinum MyDrive CP 500 GB USB 3.0).Enabled the Media server, shared the entire drive, stuck an test .avi on there.My laptop has no trouble playing it from the attached storage, my Xbox sees the folders and files, recognizes them as playable formats but then does nothing once I hit play to get the file going.If I copy the exact same file to the shared folders on my laptop, navigate from the Xbox to that location it streams within the second.Also tried the same thing with a 16 Gb USB thumbdrive, same result.

I've recently bought the TP-LINK WDR3600 and am very happy with it. I'm using its media server feature so I can watch movies on my TV through DLNA, but have found a problem: the MP4 files are not shown. All the other files work perfectly (AVI, MKV), but the MP4 files are not shown in Windows Media Player or LG Smart TV. I assume the Media Server software simply does not include this kind of files when scanning. Is there any way of accessing the media server configuration file and "enable" MP4 files?

I have HDD (Toshiba 500GB) connected to router by USB and started media sharing. (The HDD is started on USB Sharing) Samsung LED UE40D7090 (2011 model) is successfully connected to network,. I can see TP-Link on my LED network but it appears with blue exclamation mark and if i try to access the released folders with files (i can see the files) with TV shows me a message "unknown file formatt" and i can�t access it. On the PC - I can access video, pictures and mp3 content on USB HDD, problem just with TV. If i connect the HDD direct to TV , TV can play all files.

I have a wireless N router (DIR-655) in bridge mode connected to a TWC combo modem/wireless G router. I have Tversity media server running on a computer connected to the TWC, but my PS3 which is connected wirelessly to the TWC combo can't see Tversity. What am I missing? Do I need to forward some port from somewhere? FYI, I'm set-up this way so my N router can deliver full N speed, and my G devices connect to the slower TWC router. Everything sees the internet with no problem. Also, to note that devices connected to the D-link can see Tversity, but devices connected to the TWC cannot see Tversity
