I added a new wireless printer and a laptop to a wireless network for a friend but I just found out the original laptop can not print to it's wireless printer. Do you know how you know how to connect two wireless printers to one wireless router.
View 2 RepliesI have a home network running all Mac computers (though can run Windows VM if necessary) and a pair of USB printers. The wireless router and cable modem are in one room, but the printers are in another. I'd like to find the most practical way to add the printers to the local wireless network without sharing them from a computer. I've tried that for a while, but don't want to leave a laptop connected 24/7 just to enable wireless printing (rather defeats the purpose of a portable computer). I don't have any wired network lines in the home, and am not excited by the idea of running any cables.

I am trying to find the file where I can edit what printers show when looking for network printers in Server 2008. In 2003 server is was the NTPRINT.inf, where you can edit what printers populate but in server 2008 I cannot edit this file. Can this be done in Server 2008?

In the upstairs study we have two desktop computers connected to the router via the wireless network. I have a laptop computer used around the house and garden which also uses the wireless network.A laser printer and an inkjet printer are both connected to one of the computers in the study via USB and are shared with all computers.This means that the computer with the printers connected must by running if anyone requires prints. Both printers have USB and Ethernet ports – but running a network cable to the router downstairs is impractical.Is there a way of connecting the printers directly to the network and leave them powered up so they can be used by any of the computers. I am hoping that there is some extra hardware that will enable me to do this perhaps via wireless.Or – would it be possible to use mains Powerline Network adaptors – with one adapter connected by Ethernet cable to the router and other adaptors connected by cable to each printer.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a home network and I need to connect 3 USB printers. I was searching online and I'm not sure if I needed a network switch, a USB network hub, or a multiport print server. I need all 3 PCs to be able to access any printer.
Here's what I have in mind. I'm just not sure what hardware I needed (red outline). The cheaper the better. Oh and I don't want a 24/7 PC running as a server.
every once in awhile we have a machine that seems to just lose the ability to access network shares and networked printers. The way I have been "fixing" the issue is to join a workgroup temporarily and restart computer and rejoin the domain.
I understand this is probably not the best fix available, but I am not sure what is causing the problem and/or what a better solution to this problem is.
why this happens and how best to solve this without just rejoining the domain?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an annoying problem with networked printers disconnecting/disappearing when TS users logoff. Current configuration is: SQL server (WinSvr 2K8 R2 Std) has printers installed on it (standard TCP/IP Port) and printer is shared, there are also some printers installed on the DNS server and a couple of satellite offices. Users connect to TS servers (WinSvr 2K8 R2 & WinSvr 2K3) printers are connected and work fine until they logoff, when they log on the printers are gone "sometimes some printers are still there!?" I have tried logging onto the server as domain administrator and connecting printers but they won't even stay for administrator (have had this with win7 client machines) and tried directly 'console' at the server. I have looked at the printers on the SQL server and sharing properties, it is stoping printers from coming back at login on TS Note that local (client machines) connecting to the same shared printer from the SQL server don�t have the problem it's just on the TS server.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a 2504 WLC with 3 1262 WAPs in lightweight mode.
Clients connect using WPA2 PSK AES with no problem. Clients are Windows XP Home SP3. Test pages end up in print queue and eventually get a error printing status. Clients are not part of a domain and in a standalone workgroup - techstream.
Printer can be pinged from wireless client.
Another 1262N WAP in standalone mode connected to same lan from windows 7 sp1 clients have no problem printing to a local printer.
What does work on the Windows XP Home client is connecting to a network shared printer authenticating with domain admin id and password and it works. Reboot and the network shared printer can not connect multiple reasons are "access is denied" and message box says "only security tab will be displayed....." Another Windows XP Home SP3 client on reboot can't open the network shared printer with message "Can't find printer"
The local printers do work on these pc's with an old colubris router that has an outside interface on our lan and internal network with clients getting dhcp address from colubris router of 192.168.3.XXX .
What is wrong with the wireless 2504 WLC?
Had the following network (fully functional) for last 3 years: Modem (netopia dsl 192.168.1.254) router (linksys wrt54gs 192.168.1.1) WAP1 (linksys wrt54g2 192.168.1.250) and WAP2 (Linksys wrt54g2).I was always able to click on Devices and Printers in Win 7 and would see the equipment displayed.I could also access the router and wireless access points by typing their address in my browser. The modem failed after 5 years.I purchase a new Netgear N300 ADSL2+Modem Router (DGN2200)and replaced the failed modem and attached router.I made no changes to either WAP's.Everything works just fine (after about 30 minutes on phone with Netgear Tech to configure), but now none of the equipment displays in Devices and Printers. Also, I cannot connect to either WAP by typing their address in browser.I can see the Netgear device when I click on "network" in file manager.It displays a model number and is labeled a "gateway".
I'm just curious as to why I am no longer able to "see" or access the devices. Looks like I would have to actually pull the WAP's and connect to them directly if I needed to change their configurations.

This allows the printers to be saved in the program and not re-assigned each session. Now, let's say that I have implemented a new desktop replacement procedure, and we are now in phase one of said procedure. I have purchased Windows 7 64-bit desktops. After setting up my deployment standards and testing in-house, I placed one of these PC's in the field. This is where I learned the issues of printing from a 32-bit server to a 64-bit client. I have not been able to successfully print to the printer installed on the server using the Local Port of the client, print job errors out. I have done some research, and found the issues with printing from 32-bit to 64-bit, and have installed all the additional drivers I can find, with no success.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with my network, specifically printer and file sharing. I have 3 computers, (2 wired, 1 wireless) The network hasn't worked for quite a while. I just hooked up a new (wired) computer and it won't work on the network either. With the wireless computer, if I click on "view workgroup computers" I can see all the computers but cannot access them. With the 2 wired computers, I always get the message, "MSHOME is not accessible," etc. Funny thing is, the network used to work. I don't know what happened to it. I just formatted this new wired computer and loaded XP on it, used the network setup wizard, but keep getting the "not accessible" message. However, last month, I was working on my mom's computer and I put it on my network (hardwired). I had just formatted it and put XP on it and with that computer, I was able to access the laptop computer through the network.I have tried several times to create a new network by using the network setup wizard but it keeps saying that MSHOME is unavailable.I am using XP service pack 3 on all computers, Zone Alarm on 2 of the computers (the router and the new computer), and Windows Firewall on the other wired computer. I can access the Internet with all 3 computers.
