Unable to connect to unsecured wireless sites using a USB Realtec high gain antenna on a Toshiba laptop running Win7 Pro, 64 bit. Network troubleshooter resets adapter but states it cannot correct the problem. Wireless adapter settings set to High Performance. Latest Realtec drivers have been downloaded and installed. Light on front of the laptop shows that the wireless function is running. Turned the function off, rebooted and then turned it back on. Same result when Toshiba is operating off 110v so power shouldn't be the problem.
Unable to connect to a unsecured wireless network that ive been connecting to for the last year for about a week today i was able to connect when first starting my laptop but after shutdown and restarting an hour later same problem odd thing i find is there are two other laptops in my home that have no problem connecting to this network at anytime i have very little knowledge of laptops or wireless networks.
I'll try and keep this brief, we were having problems with our netgear router (DGN1000) mainly with connection when online gaming with PS3, generally poor connection - so purchased a TP-Link router (TD-W8960N). We could usually access the netgear wirelessly on our laptops Dell and Acer Aspire 4820T (both Windows 7) without any problems and were still doing so last night. However hubby attempted to install the new router last night and all seemed to go fine but after installing we couldn't connect to the wireless network through laptops, iphone ps3 etc - even though we could see the network with excellent strength, after hours of trying called TP-Link they went through everything they could think of and still no joy. Gave up in the end and went to reinstall the netgear Router and now we have the same problem with this router, even though earlier in the night it wasn't a problem - we deleted the previous networks so there was nothing stored in memory & tried everything we can think of (although neither of us are brilliant with IT we do usually get by).We even set up an unsecured wireless network (on both routers) and still couldn't connect?
I'm having problems connecting to certain sites on the internet through one computer. I can connect ok on other computers going through the same home network. On the one computer that is having problems I can connect to the site but then when I click on a link I get unable to connect then I can reload the page and some times it connects to the page. So as I am browsing through the site almost every time I click on a link I get unable to connect and have to keep reloading the page.
We can't find the Linksys router's manual and have no clue what is causing our WiFi not to let us access certain websites. For example, we are unable to access the Microsoft, Target, our local Library, YouTube and some other ones that we find out about once it doesn't let us get on them. We thought it was an issue with Microsoft Security Essentials because we hadn't updated it correctly, but that was not it. The reason we know it is OUR WiFi because we can access the sites I mentioned above whenever we use our apt complex WiFi, so it is not our laptop. We have the same problem with this when using our wifi on our iTouch. I hope that all made sense (had to access this site with my phone.)
I built a computer down at school in Utah, semester's over so I went back to Idaho for the summer. When I got here I seemed to stop being able to connect and load content from random sites. It gets a ping time out every time on the same random websites.

I can access these sites in Utah, so I called my ISP (frontier communications, previously verizon.) They flushed the DNS and checked that the modem wasn't to blame. I checked my host files and they're unaltered. After two hours on the phone they were stumped and hung up. [URL] loads fine, but it won't load the pictures which is odd.I'm not sure if it matters but I do have a 6 year old modem (westell 327w) that I think uses LAN g whereas my mobo (asrock extreme3 gen3) uses Realtek 8111E if i'm looking at the correct specs.one last thing to add would be that I am not able to access [URL], but I am able to access [URL]. Is there something all these websites have in common that cause them not to load?
MY ISP installed one router in my lab.for internet connectivity they mail me steps :connect your Laptop directly to gi0/3 port to check internet connectivity with public ip 1.1.1.x and Gateway 1.1.1.1 with subnet mask 255.255.255.240 after connection I surprised because I am able to access only google sites like gmail,google search etc. but I am able to ping/traceroute all sites.from browser I am able to access only google sites only.In Router no firewall no such access list.
My wireless network currently says un-secured. i try to connect and it tells me to enter my pin. i enter the pin on my router and it wont work. the problrm started when i was messing with my internet settings to try to make my wireless internet secured from other people. i dont know what i did but now i cant connect.
when i log onto my laptop a wireless network connection is always shown but i couldn't connect to that network because the error messege is allways shown
I cannot get my laptop to connect to anything but unsecured wireless connections. Ipconfig says Wlan media disconnected. Tried ipconfig /release, renew. Still nothing.
I have flashed the firmware on my wireless wrrt54gl router to DD-WRT mini, i now want to set it up to connect to unsecured wireless around the neighbourhood, the only other network hardware at my disposal is a WLAN usb adapter and the Ethernet on my pc.
I'm going to upgrade the routers antenna with bigger omni-directional antenna, and connect to whatever networks pop up on the radar.How do i go about all this in regards to the settings on the router and/or computer?
I can go to the public library and log on without a hitch, but at a coffee house or cafe I can not connect. Sometimes it says 'cannot validate..' and sometimes it just says 'unable to connect to wireless network' What gives?
I share an unsecured network with my next door neighbor. The Norton Antivirus trial ran out on my new Sony VAIO laptop. Immediately after, it stopped connecting to our network (and any other unsecured network). I've tried turning off Windows Firewall, turning off Windows Defender, did a system restore, uninstalled Norton, used the Norton removal tool, installed and uninstalled another antivirus program (the one that Google Apps recommends... starts with an I), verified the wireless switch is turned on, rebooted my computer, did every update for both Windows and VAIO, booted in safe mode w/ networking, created a new profile... nothing is working!!!!
I have a Gateway NV53 laptop that has no problem connecting to the Internet at home, whether when it's connected with the wire, or wireless (with our own secured wireless network).
However, whenever I go in a coffee shop or anywhere else that has a unsecured network for customers, it won't connect, no matter how strong the signal is.
my toshiba L505-S5990 will only allow connections to unsecured networks. finally had to reset my router at home through my desktop as unsecured so I can get a wireless connection on my laptop but of course do not want to keep my home network unsecured.
This problem just started. I am unable to load certain https sites (for work). If i directly connect to ethernet, it works, so my isp isnt my problem. When i try to connect to the sites, it says "sending request" then times out. I have played around with the settings non stop and nothing has worked. I have a mac running 10.7.5.
I am not able to access https sites (like banking etc.). Once I plug my old router back I have no such problem. I guess it must be router settings that I cannot figure out.
We are in the process of evaluating Cisco wireless controllers and AP. We have 3602 APs and 2504 controllers right now. We have multiple branch offices connected to the main office through layer 3 and they all have different vtp domains and vlans. I am trying to deploy APs at the branch offices and connect them back to the controller and the central site. I created a sub interface and ssid with one of the vlans at the branch office on the controller and was able to get the AP to join the controller through DNS. However, a client at the branch office connected to the AP was unable to ping anything at the branch and central sites. Any documentations on how to deploy such a setup where the controller is at the central site and AP at the branch office going through multiple routers in between?

Our office is running a DELL Poweredge server2 xeon processors16 GB memory5 RaiddrivesVM WARE with 3 virtual machinesOne of the VM's handles our DNS with is our main server second is an exchange server third is a sequal applicaioas of recent we have notice a few website sites we cant access (municipalities of which we access tax info) we need to visit on a regular basis. and it only seem to be just the 3 or 4 that are closest to us. Othe area communities we can access fine. All we get is a page cannont be displayed.The sites works outside our office or on our phones.[CODE]
My only options for internet have been 56k or wireless USB modems. That is, until recently. We switched from the wireless USB modems to a wireless hotspot from US Cellular (Samsung SCH-LC11). However, ever since making the switch I've had problems accessing certain websites both on our PC and on my Macbook Pro. I can't connect to Invision Free (or any of its user-created forums) or [URL]. It happens with other, random sites as well. I tried manually changing DNS settings to Google's and another one (don't recall which) and it did allow me to access the site. However, once there, every other site started moving slowly and eventually the ones in question timed out as well.
I have today the issue that I am unable to load certain websites, I can enter but whenever I click on continue to navigate in that same site for example FACEBOOK, I see the operation just loads and dont go anywhere, after that remains in same condition unless I cancel or close the browser.I checked the firewall, and also the antivirus, but nothing seems wrong, I can get in into HOTMAIL, GOOGLE, but again certain sites if I search something on GOOGLE, get frozen again .
Lately I have been experiencing an annoying issue with my connection. My signal strength is excellent, but every 5-10 minutes I have the problem that the DNS server can't be resolved, so I can't visit any websites. All I can do is wait, the problem disappears after a few minutes. I tried ipconfig /flushdns but that didn't work.
I have been accessing my webmail account everyday for the past 3yrs with not problem until this week. Stopped working mid week. No changes to computers. Have 3 and none will access this site any longer. Just times out. Sometimes I can ping and other times not. Can log onto other networks and access with out any problems. I could not log into any of the 4 FTP sites that I normally update without immediately getting disconnected. The message I am getting from the servers is "Port command failed, error loading directory - disconnected". To save some time and posts, here are the facts....1.) It is definately not my DSL modem. When I connect directly with the modem, without a router, I can connect to FTP fine2.) I have already done a /flushdns in IPconfig.3.) I have already done the typical power off/power on/reboot procedure numerous times.4.) I have already tried PASV mode, and tried turning PASV mode off as well.5.) My login information is correct, and I have problems on multiple sites.6.) This problem has been reported before by other users of WRT54G, but the other forums I see have no solution to the problem.7.) I have already tried using other PC's and different FTP clients on my home network. No matter which PC or laptop I use behind the router firewall, I can't maintain FTP connection. 8.) I have never had to open ports to be able to connect to FTP, since I am the one doing the request. I did also try opening ports 20 and 21. 9.) XP firewall is disabled. 10.) I have tried both ethernet ports on my PC. But then again, that is irrelevant because none of my other PC's which connect wirelessly, can connect either.
Not too much networking savvy - but here goes. Want to use router as local lan - no wireless. When router is connected to laptop via RJ45 I loose my ability to connect to sites via browser. IPconfig shows wireless adapter at 192.168.1.3. When router is attached it's ip is 192.168.1.1. Disabled the wireless in the settings but no dice. When the router was used with DSL it was set at PPPoE but now that I'm just using it locally not sure whether it should be DHCP or Static or other.
I had a secure connection, after trying to change the passsword, it now is unsecured. I was trying to connect a new Ipad to my router but I have failed miserably.
How can I get my router a password and then use that password to connect an Ipad to my home network? I reset the router, but the connection is unsecured, I can't figure out how to get it back.
I have a WTR160N-RM. I just moved and the cable technician hooked it up unsecured. I didn't catch it until he left. I can access the Linksys webite with the standard IP address and generic password, but I'm not sure what needs to be changed. I've looked at several UTube videos and read some online instructions, but they all different a bit. How I can secure my wireless again? I have an old Toshiba LT that just keeps on tickin'.
I'm not sure why the guest net work is unsecured. I would have thought that would not be an option but it is unsecured. How to secure the guest network [2.4 GHz]? Also when I view the guest list some devices stay displayed whether they are in the vicinity or even turned off. That adds to my paranoia with the guest network being unsecured. I also can't edit the screen names to know who the device belongs to like is available in "my devices", forcing me to keep a MAC address list.
In the process of setting-up a E2500 Linksys router, I set-up my secured network which is working fine but also (I do not know how I did this??) set-up the same named network but it is unsecured. How do I delete this unsecured network.Do I need to set-up the router again?
my situation is that i have to connect 2 site which are 1km apart our data speed requirement is not so high 64kbps is enough so i heard this kind of setup is it best
