Dec 27, 2012Is there any way to make networks hidden through the WiFi Smart software? I have a Cisco Linksys E4200V2. I have gone through everything to try figure out how to make my S.S.I.D. to not be broadcasted, but seems like the only way to make it hidden is to use the Origonal Firmware make it as hidden, then install the New Firmware and software. Seems like Cisco may have missed this option. I do know a lot of people would prefer their Networks hidden for a little security. I know it isn't much, cause if someone wants to get that info it's not hard to get it. But for people who don't know or don't want to waste all the time to find the Hidden Network name can be turned away, for going through that extra step.

But my wireless connected BT internet radio and my wife's Kindle can no longer connect to the internet. The radio says connecting to network but does nothing. I have changed nothing I am aware of. I have looked at the BT Home Hub Wireless set up page and the settings are Using WPA and WPA2 and the correct wireless encryption key is there. Channel selection is automatic. Dec 6, 2012Unable to connect to unsecured wireless sites using a USB Realtec high gain antenna on a Toshiba laptop running Win7 Pro, 64 bit. Network troubleshooter resets adapter but states it cannot correct the problem. Wireless adapter settings set to High Performance. Latest Realtec drivers have been downloaded and installed. Light on front of the laptop shows that the wireless function is running. Turned the function off, rebooted and then turned it back on. Same result when Toshiba is operating off 110v so power shouldn't be the problem.

Vista tells me that I need a wireless network adapter.Am I missing something? Is it possible to change some settings to get the Broadcom card to go wireless? If not, what sort of adapter is needed, and is such adapter external or will it have to be installed in the system box?
