I would like to make a network for my house where my laptop connects to my home wifi and other computers can connect to my laptop and get internet, almost like ad-hoc but i would like it to work with infrastructural devices also i do have some spare routers available.

Canon T3i hooked up to a laptop running ExtraWebcam and Yawcam.Yawcam running an HTML and Stream output to the network/web.I would like people to be able to access that video from the [the internet + network or internet or network] (those are the options/possibilities and the order in which I'd prefer).I am able to get people to access it via the network, but not the net. I'm using my Samsung Galaxy SIII on Sprint to tether (obviously not tethering if I'm only going to the network). Unfortunately, not only can I not access the stream via the internet, I can't even ping the phone.I'm pretty sure I need to open up/forward some ports, but I understand that that's not possible seeing as it's Sprint's network and not mine.
I will also have access to a local wifi network if there's a way to 'piggyback' off of that for web access to the stream even if I don't have access to the router control panel. I'm not sure if I'll have a hard wire connection to a router or not. I can, however, change the ports that the stream is set to.(also, I can bring a separate wireless router to connect to my tethered computer to open up the internet enabled stream to the network?)Given a laptop with a wifi card, a phone that can tether, a wifi network, and, if necessary, an extra wireless router, how can I stream from Yawcam and make it available to the internet if I DON'T have access to the wifi network's port forwarding? Note that I CAN edit the ports in Yawcam.
My laptop cannot see my wi-fi network, but it can see a lot of others for example my neighbour's.It is not a problem with my network, however as my iPad and my day's laptop can connect fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am unable to get my laptop to connect to the internet when my wifi network has any type of security option or authentication selected. i want to password protect my network and it shows that the network name and passphrase i selected are correct on the router setup page. I can connect to wifi just fine when there is no authentication set on the network, but when I change it to WPA2 or WEP or any type of security on the router setup page, my laptop is able to find the network and connect with local only access. it gives me the option to reset the network adapter or generate a new ip address, but the problem still persists, and the connection only works when there is no password. is it my laptop or the router that is the problem. it has worked previously with a different router with password security.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus 1001 PG netbook. I am having problems with my home wifi network. When I turn on my laptop, I do not receive the signal for our home wifi network. However, I know that the network is working because other laptops at home are able to detect it. I don't think there is anything wrong with the laptop because I can still detect other wifi networks in our neighborhood. The problem only seems to be with our home wifi network. If I restart the computer, the problem is usually solved. This is not an efficient solution for me as I am used to turning my laptop off on hibernate and I don't like having to reopen all my documents.

There is nothing wrong with the router as all my other wifi devices still work on the network (xbox 360, flatmates laptop etc.) so I assume its something to do with my laptop.I have tried restarting the router and it hasnt worked, neither have any of the windows tools. I have run ipconfig/all while the the connection was down and will post the report at the end of this post (I am currently connected to the internet with an ethernet cable).I have checked that all my drivers are up to date and they are so I dont think that is the problem either. From the laptop I want to send files between the HTPC and Media player on the wired network however if I drag and drop or use the "send to" option they are sent via the wirelss laptop which is very slow.
Am I missing a trick how can I send files directly between the 2 devices?
Should i get a wireless adapter Or a wireless repeater Which would be better for a better connection?My router is down stairs and my xbox is upstairs.I could get the wireless adapter upstairs then do an ethernet cable straight to my xbox.

I was told by some randomer on a forum that getting a larger antenna doesn't increase the power output of the adaptor. IIRC this is directly against what I've read in the past but I forgot where so am unable to say one way or the other. I remember reading that the larger the antenna the more microwaves it radiates.Plus would it make it a health concern? Currently I have my adaptor in the other room maybe 2-3 metres from me separated by a plaster wall. enna I can if it is deemed safe or as much so as before pretty much since I have been using it for a while w/o probs. I was thinking of getting something in the range of 10db-14 db- maybe even going for an outdoor antenna but keeping it inside so long as it is affordable which they seem to be.
