WR740n - New 100mbit Connection - Only 20 Achievable By Wi-Fi

Dec 4, 2012

I have new contract for 100mbit instead of 30 and I am confussed a bit.

I have a tp-link 150mbps n router. wr740n model.

On pc I have wireless g adapter usb dongle. 5bars signal.

I can't get more than 22mbits on that pc via dongle. I know it is g and not n, but 54mbps should be achievable right ? If I connect my old notebook to a wall cable just by itself (ip of this notebook is registered with my isp) then i get about 94mbits, so the new internet IS working.

That new tplink 150mbps router is new and set correctly to my knowledge.

5548P Some Servers Stuck At 100mbit While Switch Says 1Gbit

Jul 17, 2012

We installed some new switches this winter, mostly Dell Powerconnect 5548 and 5548P switches. Everything was working OK, but I have not tested the network with iperf or any other tools since it did not have any important devices on it at the time. I also deployed LAG+LACP between switches. But now that we moved our infrastructure around, 2 of those switches have a bunch of servers on them. Everything looked fine at day 1 (1Gbit link speed everywhere, smooth operations) but the following week, All the nightly backups were slow as a turtle, mostly stuck at 100mbit-ish speeds. I started to have some complaints about database performance too.

So I started doing some iperf testing and I got a lot of throughput problems with some servers, mostly capping around the 100mbit mark. Then I looked around and found a thread where one guy said it's related to the broadcom NIC's on my Dell servers that has issues with those specific Dell Switches (ironic). Before going haywire and invest quite some time in this problem to shuffle servers around and updating firmwares, any problems with Dell switches or Broadcom NICs?

What is maximum achievable speed of my e1200v1? Latest firmware is installed. I am using Xfinity Blast (50/10). Normally, i have my laptop, Droid3 and iPod connect via wireles, but for the sake of achieving max speed, i disabled all but the laptop. wireless connection status displays speed: 144 mbits.

Cisco WAN :: Achievable Throughput On Shared - Parallel 100BASE-TX Downlinks

Oct 17, 2011

I'm trying to estimate the potential throughput I will be able to achieve on a network we are building. The core ring of the network will be composed of ruggedized industrial ethernet Cisco IE 3000-8TC-E, possibly each equipped with a IE 3000-8TM expansion module.  We will be using 1000BASE-BX SFPs on the IE-3000s to form a 1Gbps backbone on a single fiber.  The issue is that I want to establish branch connections out from each IE-3000 node on my ring to routers which can support 1Gbps, but I have no 1Gbps downlink ports available on my IE-3000's.  Therefore, I was thinking of paralleling as many 100BASE-TX copper links from the IE-3000 to my routers, so as to emulate a 1Gbps link and achieve maximum throughput.  Both sides will have 16x 100BASE-TX connections available... but what is the maximum number I can parallel together and what achievable real throughput can I assume given the innefficieny of paralleling multiple connections?

I'm having issues with PPPoE connection. On a daily level, my connection breaks 1-5 times. In the past, it was related to signal problems, but ISP Tech. team fixed this some 10 days ago. Now, whenever I call them they say connection was broken on user request and ask me if I'm running services like torrents.

I don't run torrents and all I have is standard windows update services, nod 32, as well as steam client.

Here's router log from today when last error occured (I "blanked" some user-specific data like my username or MAC address).

Am trying to use a TP-Link TL-WR702N to connect my Samsung SmartTV to a wireless network, using "client mode".For some reason, the TV refuses to accept it is connected, or even connected to a router. Enabling DHCP on the TP-Link does seem to convince the TV that it is connected to a router, but still not to the internet. Strangely though, I can control the TV via the Android app operating on the local network, so clearly it is connected. I assume the SmartTV is trying to get a response on the local network that the TP-Link is filtering out for some reason, but no idea why.

TP-LINK TL-WR740N Doesn't Get IP Through WAN

Oct 4, 2011

All I can tell you about my internet connection is that I have a kinda white box looking antenna, which is connected by a rj45 to this ghetto looking modem thingy - imgur: the simple image sharer (the other cable obviously gets plugged in the computer).it is not a mac adress thing, cause I can plug that cable in any pc I want and it is going to get an ip through DCHP in a matter of seconds. [code] Friend of mine connected another pc to this internet some time ago using somekind of wan bridge/lan bridge option on his asus router, but I can't find anything equivalent on mine. Had the exact same issue when trying to connect the router by conventional means.

TL-WR740N How To Extend Wireless Signal

Jan 21, 2013

Ground floor: My ISP's wireless router and an 8-port switch. For wireless communication I use the ISP's Wifi and the 8-port switch is used for wired rj45 sockets around the house.

1st Floor: I have a TP-LINK TL-WR740N Wireless Lite N Router 150 MBps which I connected to a socket and have a PC connect with wire on it and also used for Wifi. The Wifi network I setup on the 1st floor is different than the one on the ground floor (2 routers).

At the first floor I have the problem that in other bedrooms far from the router the Wifi signal (either gets lost) or it's very low. So I bought a TP-LINK TL-WA701ND Wireless N Access Point 150MBps which I configured as universal repeater.

The access point supports only WEP encryption when used as repeater/universal repeater so I changed the wifi of the router to WEP with ASCII with 128bit character length and established the connection. The most important now is that even though the Wifi signal in the bedroom with the AP is full, when I switch off the wifi of the iPad and back on, it is not connecting to the internet. Yesterday I noticed that it was giving me the ethernet card IP (169.…). I went close to the router with the iPhone, got connected and when came back to the room with the AP it was working but the iPad is not working.

TP-Link WR740N Router / Local Access Only When WPA Is On?

Jun 16, 2012

I got a new TP-Link WR740N router and I'm having a problem with it. Everytime I enable security (WEP, WPA etc.) the signal on all notebooks will go "local access only" immediately, even if I use the right password. Router signal is always there, but Internet access will only be available if security is set to "unprotected" on the router setup. Funny thing is that my old router (Linksys WRT54) had WPA2 on and everything was ok.

TP-Link 150Mbps Wireless :: WR740N - Internet Connectivity

May 1, 2013

Region : Ireland
Model : TL-WR740N
Hardware Version : Not Clear
Firmware Version :
ISP : Three Mobile

I have recently purchased a new desktop computer that does not have an internal WiFi card. To remedy this I bought the TP Link TL-WR702N. Currently my access to the internet is provided by a mobile WiFi router (one of these: { URL}, that spreads a wireless signal throughout my house for things like my phone and laptop to connect to. I was under the impression that the WR702N would be able to connect to this network and let my new computer run on it (I believe it's called client mode?)

Now so far I have not been able to get my computer to recognize the existence of the TP Link modem, despite both Ethernet and USB cables being plugged into the computer. I think I need both logging in and changing the mode from AP to client mode.

I emailed support and was given the instruction to read this FAQ [URL], however, when following those instructions, after clicking on "Change adapter settings" instead of reading the router, all I get is a blank screen.

L-WR740N - Unable To Access Router Interface After Altering Its IP Address

Jun 17, 2012

I've been trying to configure a TP-Link L-WR740N to act as an access point using the instructions here as a guide. As stated in the guide, I've been changing the IP address of the TP-Link router to a new address that lies outwith the pool of available DHCP addresses in my combined modem/router but with less than resounding success. After rebooting the TP-Link router, I am unable to access the set-up interface - the newly allocated IP address doesn't work, neither does the original IP address work. What is happening here? If I change the IP address to one that lies within the DHCP pool and reboot, I can access it ok with the new address. However, that obviously clashes with the set-up instructions.
