.I modified my hosts file one time in order to get a website that wasn't working because it moved IPs....I inserted the website's IP address in there, since that was what someone else told me to do. There was also one other website I couldn't visit, and cannot even now...the website name is animefansftw.com (lol i'm a nerd xD) and so....I was thinking maybe that had something to do with me tampering my hosts file. I want to restore it, but I don't know how to do so.
I am trying to setup QuickVPN on my RV180W and having no luck. My client log shows "Remote gateway wasn't reached" "Failed to connect". The client is Win7 64-bit. I have created the firewall rule for icmpv4 on my windows 7 client but still no luck. I checked with my ISP and they say all ports are open. I have created the VPN user.
It seems (and should be) pretty straight forward; under ADVANCED go to WEBSITE FILTERING and enter in the URI, or partial URI, that you want blocked and make sure the drop-down menu is "DENY computer access to ONLY these websites". The only problem is, I can still get to all of them. I saw in another forum that you had to check "Enable Access Control" and go through a 6-step process where you specify machines - I truly hope that isn't the solution, because it's needlessly complicated for most users who only want to block ALL devices on their network from accessing certain sites. My Hardware Version is B1 and my Firmware version is 2.00NA.
Today i brought Linksys X3000 and that came with old firmware version (1.0.01). i need new version (1.0.03) Annex A firmware but support page not working.
I have 2 NAS devices on my network (NAS1 & NAS2). Both are QNAP devices that hold files for sharing and backup. The network operates DHCP but the printers and the two NAS devices have static IPs.I have to move them to a different room, so I did NAS1 first. I logged on to the web-gui and chose the option to 'shut-down'.Then I took NAS1 into the different room, connected it to the network and it all powered up and i see green lights and the network light is on and all looks fine.However when I try to access the device using Windows Explorer (the same mapped drive) or if i try to access it view the web-gui of it's static IP, it says that the device is not found.?

One of our users changed his domain to a workgroup (made us rethink who has admin access on all our PC's) thinking that it would somehow fix the problem he was having with not being able to print anything to a network printer. Well, this promptly called for a restart and upon restarting would not allow him to log back into the user account.
This all makes sense to me as to why it will not let him log-in using credentials that he is no longer a part of due to security restrictions. But my question is how do i recover the account? In other words, how do I go about rejoining that user account to the domain that everyone is located on.
If all new user accounts are defaulted to join the domain, how come its not just as easy to move a user from a workgroup back to that domain?
Also, the machine is running Windows XP. It's critical that I get the old user account set back up because it was used for Outlook e-mail as well as several important documents/spreadsheets. I know that none of these files are lost as I can still navigate to them through the Local Disk. But really I would like to get the old user account working instead of having to copy/paste all the old content to a new user account in order to hopefully retain all old settings and configurations. tl;dr A user on our domain moved his user account to a workgroup and now is unable to login or access his user account. How do I move the user account back to the domain?

Actually I have a shared printer in network and when some user tries to access that printer of machine name \venus an error occurs netlogon service is not started.I have tried to start netlogon service on both machine (Printer server and client) but some machine in network can able to access that machine (\venus) but some machines gives error "NETLOGON service is not started"
i use HG530, and i am connected to internet by lan1 out of 4,,, in last time my modem restart itself,,when modem work, first 2 lights (power and ADSL) are on and 3rd (internet) is flashing, when modem resets, first light is on second ligt is flashing and 3rd light is off,,, i tried to change cables and everything, but when i move cable from Lan1 to Lan2 or Lan3 i cant connect it says unidentified connection,,so how can i repair that,, and also technical support told me that my electric power is low and it cause modem to reset, is there any way to prevent that from happening if thats true?
Windows Server 2003, XP and W7 desktops. I have a growing number of user folders that are seemingly in the wrong place. When I am looking at the directories locally on the server, there are some document folders that are directly in the Users folder, rather than existing as subfolders within a user's folder. In fact, the user's folder is not present at all. So rather than Joe Smith's folder structure being 'Users/jsmith/', there are a series of folders under 'Users' that are named 'Documents'. As I click on each one though, I see in the address bar 'Users/jsmith' etc. In the tree, there is no folder named jsmith, but in the address bar there is. And in the address bar, there is no folder named 'Documents'.This seems to be limited to newer users and older users who have Windows 7 PCs, but I don't know for sure if that's the source of the change.
I have a problem with a direct crossover Ethernet connection between two computers. One is a Win XP laptop, the other a Win 7 64 bit desktop. I have a USB adapter on the desktop and the laptop used that to share internet with the desktop. This setup worked fine until today. There have been no network hardware changes nor software changes but the desktop's power supply recently failed and had to be replaced. After that was done I tried today to plug the adapter and cord back in and use the connection but it will not work. The connection from the modem to the desktop works fine but the connection from desktop to laptop will not detect internet access, says "Local area connection doesn't have a valid IP configuration" and has limited connectivity. Other than a new power supply absolutely nothing has been changed.
I was successful in configuring a new e1200 in bridge mode to extend my network. I did this with the routers side by side. In then moved the e1200 to a new location 150 feet away and it will not work. I previously had this working with an older linksys router. It will not deliver a Internet connection.

So recently i decided to try to play some rune scape since i played it through my childhood and wanted to try again, it went fine first 2 days, and after that i can't access the website at all. I've tried to ping it, and all that comes up is that request timed out, tried flush dns, restarting router/modem and even to change ip (which i did not succeed with).However i found this "solution" url... and reading the top comment, it says that "This problem occurs when viewing the same site over a router from more that one computer or application at the same time for a period of time." Up until a few weeks ago I was playing the beta version of the pokemon trading card game online [url]... but then for no apparent reason I could not load the webpage & every time I tried I got the same "The connection has timed out" "The server at Pok�mon Trading Card Game Online is taking too long to respond." page. I tried 3 different browsers & I tried unplugging my modem & leaving it off all night to reset it but nothing seems to work. I thought maybe the website was down but then I was able to log in at the library so I thought maybe I was banned & they blocked my IP address so I downloaded a program that hides my IP address & I was able to load the site but not play the game. Just today tho I took my laptop to school & got on wifi & played it with no problem without even using the hide my IP program. So I am absolutely stumped! This is the only web page my computer will not load & I really want to play the game again.

I reset my router a few days ago because of another issue but I haven't reset it since this problem began. I have tried restting my router dns to opendns and also google public dns, neither of which has made any difference.
I got a friend to confirm that the site is not down, as I suspected. Tried to ping the site using this and the only 2 UK locations on the list said 100% packet loss - is this relevant?

I've had this ever since my last blue screen of death and complete system restore. I can't connect to one website called Swagbucks; since I regularly participated there and racked up virtual currency every day, I easily stored enough to redeem up to $25 in amazon gift cards every month.I've tried browser restarting with Chrome, IE, and Firefox, but nothing worked.
