View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using Chrome as my primary broswer, but recently I can't get access to a particular website, but while I use other browsers to access that site, it is perfectly fast and without any problems at all. I don't know if i have accidentally pressed any key or accepted any setting that has made google chrome to block access to that site.

View 1 Replies View RelatedUnsure if this is the correct forum but here goes.....I just installed the Google Chrome and after doing so it has been a hair pulling problem so to say. Now when I do a search with google almost every time it looks like the information site listed I click on it and am redirected to another search and if I try to go back to google search it will not let me off the page. I end up having to close that window and open a new window and research again on google. I open my old internet explorer and the same thing happens there now.

My wireless internet at uni is showing up with two errors, when its connected it will come up saying that there is an ip address conflict then it will work for a short time then show this message when I try to load a webpage:The server at Google can't be found because the DNS look-up failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website's name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing*Google Chrome*from accessing the network.

My hosts file is clean and I checked in the registry to make sure that the hosts file is where it is supposed to be. I had trouble finding one that worked but I configured Chrome to use an external proxy and it seemed to work, abeit too slowly to really tell. I did manage to get a Nigerian google page up though.I've flushed the DNS and switched to the free google DNS.Looking around I've seen similar issues with people using Linksys routers. I am not using a Linksys router. I am currently using my android phone as a hotspot.I am running a Windows 7 laptop on the same network with no issues and booting the same host into Vista also works fine.

Tracert results in 6 successful hops and then times out (I think at my ISP?)
the last 2 successful hops are

And then
langbprj02-ae2.rd.la.cox.net
Then all time outs
My other PC is connected to the SAME wifi network right now, and I'm posting from it, and it works fine. Both are on XP. Reboots haven't worked. Happens on all browsers. Every other website I can find is just fine.
Recently i have to change my modem (lightning struck) which of course, done by my ISP worker. The problem is, since then, I've been getting the "DNS lookup failed" error message constantly while using Google Chrome. Or sometimes the "This web page is not available - The connection to [URL] was interrupted".I have to refresh the search once or twice to get to the site, which is very annoying. I tried surfing on my friend's laptop, using the same wireless connection and it seemed to work fine. This problem only occurred on MY laptop. One more thing is, the connection doesn't seem to go wrong because i could play online game with no trouble like lagging or disconnection whatsoever. (Starcraft)
These are the details:
ISP - Streamyx (malaysia)
Broadband - ADSL wireless
Modem - ZyXel p-600 series
Anti-Virus - Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security
Firewall - Windows Firewall
I have new google internet TV. It seems to only work if connected to an ethernet line directly vs my 4G wifi card.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new Lenovo Ideapad laptop and Im having problems connecting to internet using ethernet cable. The thing is this problem occurs only at one particular place (dorms) because Im having no internet problems at other locations.
It looks like this: I connect using ethernet cable, Windows 7 identifies the network and everything looks normal, but there is no internet when I open a browser (I tried IE, Firefox and Chrome). It just loads and loads and sometimes it loads my Google homepage, but only after approximately 30 seconds or it does not load it at all. The same applies for other pages - they do not load or they load after a minute, but the pages are incomplete, they look like HTML
When I do a ping at CMD, it shows the same problem, the replies are slow or it shows "request timed out". I tried pinging various pages or IPs with same results. The only thing Im able to ping normally is the IP of my network adapter. My IPv4 is set to automatic, but I also tried manual parametres, just in case.I tried 3 different cables, switching antivirus and frewall off, did spyware search, switching IPv6 off, switching WiFi off, reseting the main dorm router etc etc...
Strange thing is that my laptop works perfectly anywhere else (home, work...) so I suppose there is no problem with the configuration of my laptop or network adapter, BUT the internet provider says there is no problem with their network or router since other laptops works normally at THAT location (even my other laptop does work there), so mine Lenovo is the only laptop which is having problems... and when I check the properties of the network, upload is always higher than download, but generally both are very small one more strange thing: I can watch live stream videos using one particular software and I can download torrents quite normally, but loading Google and other pages is a major problem, even Outlook or Google Earth/Talk does not work properly
I'm using my iPhone to write this, because any other site that's not google just ends up as a blank white screen!Internet connection is 5 bars, and I tried cable and changing DSN servers.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to setup my Linksys WRT54G v5 router to use Google's Public DNS but the steps in the Google instructions are a bit vague for me: To change your settings on a router:1. In your browser, enter the IP address to access the router's administration console.2. When prompted, enter the password to access network settings.3. Find the screen in which DNS server settings are specified.4. If there are IP addresses specified in the fields for the primary and seconday DNS servers, write themdown for future reference.5. Replace those addresses with Google IP addresses: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4.6. Save and exit.7. Restart your browser.8. Test that your setup is working correctly; see Testing your new settings below.
I'm just not confident as to where I input the primary and secondary DNS IP addresses?
