When I ping google from my computer I get 0% packet loss and average ping time is 35ms. But when I ping any device on my network the time is 147ms and 25% loss. Shouldn't it ping my devices faster?
View 3 RepliesI have a WRT54G that has worked fine for years, with some PCs hooked up with Ethernet and various other devices connected wirelessly. I came home this afternoon and nothing going through the router could connect to the internet. I've made no changes to anything recently.
I did troubleshooting with Comcast, and we determined that when their modem was hooked up directly to my computer then that computer could connect to the net. Problem solved as far as they are concerned--my router is busted. But I can still connect to the router, and enter its admin screen, and everything looks fine there. The computers on the router can all see each other. So the router is working.
Once I hooked it back up to the modem my computers all lost their internet, but the router does get an IP successfully from Comcast. And it even assigns IPs to my computers that are hooked up to it. It's just that for some reason they still cannot get past the router.I used the ping function in the router admin site and the router pinged Google no problem. My PCs can ping the router without difficulty. But the computers cannot ping Google.
I've tried every combination of power cycles and reboots you can name. I've tried duplicating the MAC address of the PC that connected to the internet onto my router. None of it has made any difference.
I am wondering how I can attain a higher ping...

I have a belkin wireless G router (which I want to upgrade to a Dlink wireless N 815, as soon as I can hook it up)
My ethernet adapter is intregated into my mobo, which is a ASUS P5K motherboard, with 10/100/1000mbps ethernet.
I am wondering what I can do to get a better ping?
The best ping I have ever had (on an idle system) is 25ms.
is there anything I can do to get a better ping?
(also, I live within 100km of large city centers. I do not live out in the middle of nowhere)

The first router is connected to 3 devices via ethernet, and the 4th port is connected to my other e4200v2 which is set as bridge mode. The main router is at one end of the house, the second bridge mode router is at the other end.My wireless devices are connected to the main e4200v2, along with all the wired clients.
When wirelessly connected to the 2nd e4200 (the bridged one) I cannot connect to or ping any wireless clients that are connected to the main router. (For example, in my bedroom I am connected with my computer to the 2nd bridged router, and I am trying to ping my other computer that is wireless connected to the main router. I am unable to ping to this computer. When I am conected wirelessIy to the mian router, than I am able to ping the other wireless computer on the same router. Right now all the computers are on wi-fi.I know if I ran the computers through a switch they could share data more quickly. The problem I have is there is no way to get a cat connection to this area.If I got a range extender with switching ports built-in would it still speed this data up? Or would it be irrelevant because it still has to travel via wi-fi to the router and back?

All three computers have gigabit nics, I have gigabit router and switch, my d-link 321 is set to gigabit, the only thing on my network that is not gigabit is my printer. I'm not getting gigabit transfer speed from my computer to dlink 321. I rarely do computer to computer transfers, so I dont know what the speed is of that. The best tranfer rate is from 7-12mb. I am also using cat 5e wires on all connections. What am I missing?

We're trying to manage the ASA remotely - we can connect to the device remotely via IPSec, we can ping other devices on the LAN network, but cannot ping the inside interface of the ASA - nor can we telnet/ssh/http to it. We can, however, connect to another router that's on the LAN and then SSH into the ASA's inside interface.

I assisgned an IP address to the switch some time ago, but never had cause to use it (as it was purhcased as a spare).The problem I have now is that I cannot ping the device or browse to it via IE. Using hyperterminal and the CLI i have attempted to assign the same IP address, but i get a warning along the line of already assigned.I have set IP's to other 3COM model switches without problems. why I cannot ping this device or assist in connecting to it via IE?

I'm currently switching from a certain internet provider to another and I'm forced to get another router. What I wanted to do is since the initial router has to be on the first floor, I'd like to have the second one on the top floor closer to my computer whereas they would share a dedicated connection between each other wirelessly so it would make my connection faster rather than just having my pc connect directly wirelessly to the initial router on the first floor. View 9 Replies View RelatedSo i'm behind a fiber 100mbit connection, and for the past few weeks i've been noticing overall slowness on everything video related, from youtube to any kind of stream using flash video.If I try to watch a video on youtube it will constantly buffer, the same with stuff like ustream and the like.
The odd thing is that I have VPN service that I use to avoid regional restrictions, and when I use it to stream anything, then all the videos and streams are silky smooth and load pretty quickly which is odd since It should work on reverse. Also, a speed test through the proxy gives me no more than 10mbit, while without the proxy I get 95+mbit.
Is it something with the router? I've never heard of the ISP throttling stuff.Like I said, everything works perfectly, except video streams. I can max out torrents at more than 10 MB/s.The router im using is a D-link dir-855 (provided by my isp). I head about disabling QoS.
am having speed issues on the wireless side of my WRT54GL v1.1 router.When I hook up a laptop to the wired port, am getting roughly 5.4mps down when wired, but only 1.2mpbs down on wireless. I am tried doing a factory restore. I have made sure that no QoS is in place. I have tried multiple devices to make sure it is not something on the device side causing this problem, but all the devices perform just as poorly on wireless but as well on wired.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgrade my service with Comcast so I can now get up to 50Mbps, however the modem when directly connected to the PC can obtain these speeds, it does not when the PC is connected to the E4200 router. In fact the Cisco Connect speed test shows the upload speeds (10+ Mbps) to be faster than the download speed(4.82 Mbps). I upgraded the firmware to the latest level but it did not make a difference.
