Ubuntu 12.10 Possible To Run Transmission Or Google Chrome Only Using OpenVPN?
Feb 24, 2013
Is is possible to run Transmission or Google Chrome only using OpenVPN? Other applications should use default connection (eth0) since I am connected to Intranet which won't be accessible if all traffic is routed through VPN. I am using Ubuntu 12.10 and some Premium VPN server (similar to HMS VPN)
I'm trying to connect to connect to OpenVPN server from my Ubuntu 11.10 machine. I use the following command to do it (under root user):
openvpn --config /home/vladimir/client.ovpn
Everything seems to be OK, it connects normally without any warnings and errors, but when I try to browse the internet I see that I still use my own IP address, so VPN connection doesn't work. When I run openvpn command, it displays the following message among others:
NOTE: unable to redirect default gateway -- Cannot read current default gateway from system
I am using Chrome as my primary broswer, but recently I can't get access to a particular website, but while I use other browsers to access that site, it is perfectly fast and without any problems at all. I don't know if i have accidentally pressed any key or accepted any setting that has made google chrome to block access to that site.
Recently i have to change my modem (lightning struck) which of course, done by my ISP worker. The problem is, since then, I've been getting the "DNS lookup failed" error message constantly while using Google Chrome. Or sometimes the "This web page is not available - The connection to [URL] was interrupted".I have to refresh the search once or twice to get to the site, which is very annoying. I tried surfing on my friend's laptop, using the same wireless connection and it seemed to work fine. This problem only occurred on MY laptop. One more thing is, the connection doesn't seem to go wrong because i could play online game with no trouble like lagging or disconnection whatsoever. (Starcraft)
These are the details: ISP - Streamyx (malaysia) Broadband - ADSL wireless Modem - ZyXel p-600 series Anti-Virus - Trend Micro Titanium Internet Security Firewall - Windows Firewall
I have just gone through hours of tech support with my ISP and still cannot seem to get online. Problem is the same as recent posts by jerguy1928, with message "DNS lookup failed...." coming up in Google Chrome. Both IE and FF just say cannot connect.Running Windows 7 on laptop. I have tried alt DNS settings (Google and others), all the CMD suggestions, disabling firewalls etc, etc! Other computer in house connects just fine.Ping works fine. Really, there appears to be no reason to not be able to connect - since I am actually connected!
(Setup routing and iptables for new VPN connection to redirect **only** ports 80 and 443) Only my goal is a bit different. I am running a headless gui-less install of Ubuntu Server 12.04 that is being used for a variety of different purposes... I would like all traffic to travel un-prohibited through my ISP except for my transmission traffic. I have a VPN i subscribe to that allows me access for which I only want to direct a single port's traffic to. I am currently using a modified version of the code from the above link. My current code is below:
I can't connect to the internet through Google chrome or explorer, pages simply won't load.
-can't ping the pc from other pc but can ping the modem - internet shows connected and receiving data - all connections tight - internet/wireless modem working fine working fine with my other pc/laptop - all other programs on the pc seem to work fine - I have changed no settings on the pc since I last used it and the internet - I had not used the internet in approx 2 months on the problem pc - I tried turning off the firewall. - running XP
I have cisco router 800 series 887 VAW. WiFi is connected to all my devices through this router, i.e., Windows XP, Vista, Wii, Nexus 7 and HTC Desire S. I can access internet from all these devices. The apps which are already downloaded on my Android devices connect to internet, but the bigest problem is here:
1. Google Play does not connect (on both Nexus 7 and Desire S). 2. Chrome does not work on Nexus 7 3. Nexus 7 fails to check for any system update. 4. Fails to sync accounts.
I tried to contact to the company which gave me this router, but they told the problem lies with my tablet. But the tablet works perfectly fine with others networks and Android phone works fine with 3G and other networks.
The coaxial"or any other metal cable" was using for transmission signals(before fiber optic) the coaxial need repeater every 2 or 3 Kilo meter, because the signal will be attenuation when pass through the cable, when we transmission electricity to far places ,we use transformer to rising the voltage to 10000 or 100000 volt
I'm trying to connect to a VPN using the free OpenVPN software. This has been working for a while, but recently I keep getting the following error. My OpenVPN config file is also copied in below. I've tried searching for a fix but haven't managed to find anything.
I want to say that I am new to networking and VPNs, but I have really enjoyed setting up my own OVPN server and learning along the way. The impetus for my investigation in OVPN came from my desire to route my internet traffic through my home network while being at school and to have access to my home networked printer and NAS. I decided to go with a bridged OVPN setup on my NAS. I successfully bridged my NAS LAN adapter with the OVPN TAP driver, deployed the server on my NAS, and have had great success accessing my NAS, printer, and LAN remotely. Note that I use Windows 7 on all of my devices. Everything works well and I can just about max out my home ISP download/upload speed when transferring files over the VPN.
However, I noticed that after deploying the OVPN server my local transfer speeds over my LAN to my NAS are greatly reduced. After several days of trouble shooting I have narrowed the problem to the bridging of the OVPN TAP Device with my NAS LAN adapter. [code]
I`m looking to have a play with VPN, but as my original plans to install PFSense onto a SuperMicro 5015a-EHF system are on hold due to availablility/Pricing issues, I`m lookin at doing it with my current IPCop.
Mooching around I find Zerina but after getting throught to the SSH directory and unpacking bit, it turns out zerina only supports ipcop up to 1.4.early version!
Further digging around gets me onto openVPN so I go down the same route but with no easily available walkthrough/howto I quickly found myself struggling and discovered the ipcop forums which, from what I have read, have to be the single most unfriendly forum I have ever discovered. How to get VPN set up on my IPCop?
When I try to connect OpenVPN through an E4200 v2 router from my Linux Fedora 16 client, the connection hangs. The connection log show that OpenVPN has connected to the VPN server. Internet also freezes until I disconnect OpenVPN.
OpenVPN on Windows works fine through the E4200 router. If I connect the Linux client directly to my Inteno fiber router, OpenVPN works fine.Passthrough is enabled in the router, and I have configured QoS and port forwarding for port 1194. The router has firmware version 2.0.37.
recently I've connected to my OpenVPN and everything works fine on my PC I'm getting okay speeds and the VPN IP appears on [URL]The problem is I wanna use internet connection sharing to play Xbox Live while connected through my VPN and I'm having issues. My Xbox isn't even recognizing my wired connection. This is the setup:Wireless Connection > Desktop > OpenVPN > Wired connection from desktop to XboxWhat I think I'm doing wrong is not specifying the correct home networking connection for my LAN 3 (Tap-Win32 Adapter OAS)I tried sharing the LAN 3 connection and set the home networking connection to my Wireless and it disconnects me from my wireless network.

The UDP connections are being blocked when I use my VPN. I can connect for a while but soon after a while, the connection doesn't work. I can't even access the router page.
560km long pipeline, intermediate station at every 30 or 40 kms. Couple of Ip phones, 2 or 3 IP camera, and few control signls (IP system) will be connected at every stations. Do not expect heavy data. Which one may be the prefered economical solution can I use
1. Ethernet network (Switch with Optical SFP ports at every site) 2. SDH equipment at every site 3. DWDM equipment (if so lower end)
I recently bought the Dlink DIR-655 router and I have a Dlink DNS 323 nas. I have them connected and working. When I send data from my PC to the DNS 323, i'm doing about 6MB/s. when I'm sending data from DNS 323 to my PC, i'm doing about 30MB/s. all 3 devices have the 1000 Mbps enabled and Jumbo frames is enabled on the DNS 323 and my PC. is this normal?
I have a problem on my Google Chrome explorer that if for example I am going to [URL] so every time I am clicking in a link (no matter what... some friend's profile, or friend's pictures...) I see only the blue Facebook bar on top and that it. So if I want to page to load perfectly I need to mark the address and click enter, and then the page loads perfectly.
An I need to do this any time I am entering any link. And it's not only on this site. it's also some others sites includes Twitter.
I tried to see if the problem continues in other explorer like firefox and IE, but not... it works perfectly there!
I have a server running sbs essentials and a system running windows 7 pro, but i cant get win7 pro to join the domain on the server, i get the following message - "An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a DC in the domain being joined has failed". I need to enter the domain controller i.p as the dns on the windows 7 machine ? is this true ? if so how do I find out the domain controller i.p,
I am trying to lower the transmission power on my WAG160N. I thought it should be an option in my advanced wireless settings of the web based setup page, however there is only transmission rate, n transmission rate and cts protection mode.
For an N300 model F9K1002V4 router, how can I tell if it's transmitting in N mode? I have two newer laptops that are capable of receiving the 802.11N signal but are only receiving at 54mbps. The router is set to transmit at b/g/n rates.
I would like to connect my 1841 to the equipment that has RS-422 interface in order to transmit data. I have to buy one WIC-1T to support it. However, I am not sure that this module will be able to support RS-422 or not (As I can see there is DB25 which is the interface of RS-422, but I realize that RS-232 also has 25 pins.)
The LSRefreshtime is 30 minutes in OSPF as per rfc 2328, So the router LSA will start after this time(30 minutes). By using router lsa only the Link State Database will be updated. Suppose the datatransmission is started when it(router) is switched on. by using Link State Database only the routing table will be updated.
