Jul 30, 2012I am using Chrome as my primary broswer, but recently I can't get access to a particular website, but while I use other browsers to access that site, it is perfectly fast and without any problems at all. I don't know if i have accidentally pressed any key or accepted any setting that has made google chrome to block access to that site.

Apr 14, 2012Recently i have to change my modem (lightning struck) which of course, done by my ISP worker.The problem is, since then, I've been getting the "DNS lookup failed" error message constantly while using Google Chrome. Or sometimes the "This web page is not available - The connection to [URL] was interrupted".I have to refresh the search once or twice to get to the site, which is very annoying. I tried surfing on my friend's laptop, using the same wireless connection and it seemed to work fine. This problem only occurred on MY laptop.One more thing is, the connection doesn't seem to go wrong because i could play online game with no trouble like lagging or disconnection whatsoever. (Starcraft)

Jun 20, 2011I have just gone through hours of tech support with my ISP and still cannot seem to get online. Problem is the same as recent posts by jerguy1928, with message "DNS lookup failed...." coming up in Google Chrome. Both IE and FF just say cannot connect.Running Windows 7 on laptop. I have tried alt DNS settings (Google and others), all the CMD suggestions, disabling firewalls etc, etc! Other computer in house connects just fine.Ping works fine. Really, there appears to be no reason to not be able to connect - since I am actually connected!

-can't ping the pc from other pc but can ping the modem
- internet shows connected and receiving data
- all connections tight
- internet/wireless modem working fine working fine with my other pc/laptop
- all other programs on the pc seem to work fine
- I have changed no settings on the pc since I last used it and the internet
- I had not used the internet in approx 2 months on the problem pc
- I tried turning off the firewall.

Nov 1, 2012I have cisco router 800 series 887 VAW. WiFi is connected to all my devices through this router, i.e., Windows XP, Vista, Wii, Nexus 7 and HTC Desire S. I can access internet from all these devices. The apps which are already downloaded on my Android devices connect to internet, but the bigest problem is here:
1. Google Play does not connect (on both Nexus 7 and Desire S).
2. Chrome does not work on Nexus 7
3. Nexus 7 fails to check for any system update.
4. Fails to sync accounts.
I tried to contact to the company which gave me this router, but they told the problem lies with my tablet. But the tablet works perfectly fine with others networks and Android phone works fine with 3G and other networks.

Mar 31, 2012I access the internet from my company�s LAN, which has a restrictive firewall, so I cannot request the admin to open any ports manually for me. Hence I use a software called your-freedom. This proxy software supports both http as well as socks 4 and 5 proxy (by entering the proxy IP 127.0.0.1 (localhost) and Port 8080 for http proxy OR 1080 for Socks Proxy), and I have successfully been using web browsers and some other softwares that support proxy/ allow proxy info to be entered to login/ connect to the internet. Your-Freedom also supports port forwarding.However, the softwares I intend to use do not have any options to enter proxy methods or proxy ports (as far as I have noticed). I have tried to proxify these 2 softwares using softwares such as SocksCap and Free Cap, but either they don�t work, or my settings in proxifying are not correct. I believe I will have to do port forwarding or proxify the softwares, but have been unable to do so in the correct manner.
Following is the info on the 2 softwares:
1.NOW Trading terminal:[FONT=Times New Roman]Normally when I start the NOW or Zerodha software, the software starts and I get a login screen, but under firewall conditions, I get the initial Splash screen but then the software stops with the error: [b][u]NOW Initialisation failed for Interactive Engine << os error>>.
2.PowerIndia Bulls:The software is written in Java and starts with a batch file (PowerIndiabulls.bat) located in C:UsersDEFAULT_USERNAMEAppD..... I converted this batch file to .exe (with battoexe software) and then ran it through a proxifying software. The .exe start properly without proxifying software but not under proxifying environment. Basically the software needs to connect to the internet using Port 443. I am also expected to keep ports 443, 41599 and 59598 open. software's requirement is available at Indiabulls Securities: Indiabulls Securities is a leading capital market company offering securities broking and advisory services, depository services, equity research services to its clients in India. (item no. 5).To confirm, while the software is unable to connect through port 443, you will get an error message: "Connection to Login Server could not be established" when you try to login with any random Username and Password.To know that the software is able to connect properly, you will get an error: "This User ID is not enabled to be used with this product".

I see only the blue Facebook bar on top and that it. So if I want to page to load perfectly I need to mark the address and click enter, and then the page loads perfectly.
An I need to do this any time I am entering any link. And it's not only on this site. it's also some others sites includes Twitter.
I tried to see if the problem continues in other explorer like firefox and IE, but not... it works perfectly there!

Aug 6, 2012I cannot connect to the internet using firefox or chrome but there's no problem with internet explorer. This happened after I installed and uninstalled speedbit video accelerator. When opened chrome, it gave me the following

After the problem occurred, I rebooted the system, uninstalled firefox and chrome, freshly downloaded firefox (from IE) and the problem persists. I couldn't download chrome because chrome installer says it can't connect to the

Dec 13, 2012Am experiencing the same problem where IE can connect to internet, but not Chrome, although the only change to my desktop PC (WinXP SP3) was a windows update. This issue seems to be quite common among all Windows OS because when I queried "can't connect chrome to internet" I've found over 50 posts at various forum describing your issue (and mine). I have also eliminated firewall, antivirus, etc and obviously since IE can get on the internet..my network connection is fine...as is/was yours. Looking more closely I'm thinking that somehow the specific port on outbound is not being accessed by Chrome/Firefox because I used a sniffer and see no request leave my pc and verified no request through my router either.
The winsock catalog in a namespace server configuration listing right? How would you explain that resetting the winspace catalogue fixes the issue?Wand3r3r said it was malware, but I'm quite sure we don't have that issue...I know my machine doesn't and this has occured on the library PCs also. I wan't to find sure fix and understand what is happening on the Windows stack, so that I can assuredly deploy Chrome on a student network and not see this re-occuring all over the place.

2. Motorola cable modem
3. Netgear wireless router

When I plugin with an ethernet cable to the router, I have no problems and I get the full 15mbps speed when doing speed tests and downloads. IE, Firefox, and Chrome all work fine.When I use the wireless, I only get 5mbps in IE and Firefox, but I get the full 15mbps again when using Chrome.I'm starting to wonder if there are shared Windows components being used by Firefox and IE, but not being used by Chrome. I have reinstalled my wireless adapter driver and it didn't affect anything. I've disabled Windows Firewall, checked for malware, confirmed no proxy was setup in Internet Options, on and on...
Internet Only Works In Safe Mode - Chrome Freezes Up?
May 22, 2012Since last night, my laptop has just been acting up and being very sluggish. In normal mode, I can connect to the internet fine, but nothing will load. The only way I can get it to work on normal mode is if I clear all of my private data before restarting my laptop, and even then it will only work for a few minutes then stop. Also, when I go to open chrome, it'll usually takes a few seconds before opening, and may even completely freeze up. The only time where I can actually get it to work reliably is when I open up safe mode with networking. I'm afraid it might be a virus or something but I've run scans and everything and nothing has come up.

Now when I do a search with google almost every time it looks like the information site listed I click on it and am redirected to another search and if I try to go back to google search it will not let me off the page. I end up having to close that window and open a new window and research again on google. I open my old internet explorer and the same thing happens there now.
