View 1 Replies View RelatedE2000 has the guest account feature. Not sure if all guests shares the same login credentials. I would like to have guests account use seperate logins. Is this feature available? Another thing, I read the manual and it is indicated that only up to 10 maximum guest acccounts is allowed. I am looking for more than 10 - kinda like a hotspot software.
I've been looking everywhere. I've seen hotspot system, ddwrt, chillspot, etc. But it's complicated as firmware needed to be flashed.
My ISP here at my mother's in Italy (www.teletu.it) gave me the following configuration:
1. Supported Protocol: PPPoE or PPPoA
2. VPI: 8
3. VCI: 35
4. Encapsulation: LLC (If not supported: VCMUX/NULL)
5. Modulation: Multimode
6. Authentication Protocol: PAP or CHAP
if I connect my laptop to the ADSL modem, it all works just fine and I can connect to the internet (as you can see )
HOWEVER, if I then try to configure my WRT54G v6 to use this internet connection (I NEED to be wireless here, or I won't be able to use my iPhone and iPad), there is no way apparently for me to configure the Encapsulation, Modulation, and Authentication Protocol above. I just upgraded my WRT54G's firmware, and am now running firmware Ver.1.02.8, 10/05/2009. I was hoping this would allow me to set these parameters, but I can't find a way.
I tried just configuring the WRT54G with PPPoE and the ISP's userId/password, but this doesn't seem to suffice, and I don't see any other settings I could try.
Just purchased an E2000 (Firmware version 1.0.03) to use with DDNS. Much to my surprise there seems to be a problem with saving the password at the configuration screen. [code] With the above settings entered and the Update button pressed favorable results are obtained; the router reports that DynDNS.org updates okay. However once the "Save Settings" button is pressed an update fails with the error "Authorization failure bad ID or password".Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Is the password field limited to certain characters?

Error is saying "401 Authorization required" Browser not authentication-capable or authentication failed.
Just installed 2 E4200v2's for a customer today. Was very optimistic because they worked great in my lab, both for my Win7 laptop a MacBook. And after installing 1 on-site and testing w/ my laptop, it worked fine.BUT problems arose when I installed both at the same time (I don't think I ever did this in the lab) and then I tested some computers. Every computer that I tested (except mine of course), cannot authenticate correctly using the WPA2 password.
For the Mac's they get the error "The wi-fi network... requires a WPA2 password" then after entering the *correct* pswd, it says "Invalid password". They're a Mac shop, but I did try one other Win laptop and that also had a problem, and the error was something like "security mismatch" although I was rushed and didn't write it down.
I just purchased a Linksys WRT120N and have a couple of issues, one of them may force me to return it to the point of purchase.Once WPA2 is enabled, on the Wireless-Advanced Wireless Settings screen,, the Authentication Type (which was greyed out by default) changed from Auto to Open and remained greyed out. I want to change this back to Auto. The other issue is that on the Status screen, the IP addresses of the domain name servers (DNS) are incorrect. This screen displays the DNS server addresses sent by the ISP and are not displaying the DNS addresses that are hard coded on the main Setup screen - although if I run nslookup, the DNS server address displayed in the console window, is the one that is displayed on the Setup screen.
The more important of the two is the Authentication Type being Open and greyed out. If this is something that cannot be changed, then I will be forced to return this for credit as it was the last unit on the shelf. I had reset the router back to the factory defaults and reconfigured it again, but this did not resolve either issue. I'm tempted to think that both issues may be the result of defective firmware, which shows version 1.0.06.
I have successfully set up a guest network on my EA4500. Guest laptop associates with guest SSID just fine. Then via IE, it gets prompted for the guest password, which is entered and accepted just fine. At this point guest laptop is on the network.
BUT... at some point the guest laptop will need to reauthenticate (I don't know what the timeout is, but maybe one or two days?). Anyway, it's at this point that IE presents the guest network login page. But now after typing in the password, "enter" or clicking on the button does nothing. It looks like the guest web page doesn't get loaded properly or completely, so the reauthentication can't complete, therefore can't get to the internet. So, while in this state, I've also tried Firefox and Chrome, and same thing, no action when trying to submit the guest password. Tried rebooting guest laptop, and still same problem. Only thing I've found so far that works is to reboot the router. So I'm guessing there's a problem with the guest/web server on the router?? It's a real pain to have to reboot the router every day or two, when I've had other Linksys routers run for months without having to touch them.
I was running CCC 2.1.38 when I first noticed the problem. Since then I've downgraded to Classic 2.0.37, but it seems I still have the same problem. Again, I can connect & authenticate just fine initially, but when reprompted after some period of time, it doesn't work.
I've tried contacting Cisco support, but it looks like I'm at 91 days since purchase and thus outside of my 90-day complimentary support, so they happily provided me with the premium support options just to have the honor of talking with them. Guess I shouldn't have spent so much time trying to figure this out myself.
What commands do I need to enter to correctly authenticate with my DSL PPPOE provider? I need to have the ID and Password entered into the router.

View 4 Replies View RelatedBasically I have a win2000 server running as a VM in my computer with a secondary LAN address(Different subnet) which acts as a gateway for the other devices on my network (e.g. my wifi-router has DHCP relay set to my VM's address). The VM uses another network(internal NAT) for accessing the Internet though my computer. So far, I've managed to set up the DHCP and routing. Other devices on my network have access to the internet. But, since my computer has only one NIC, and even though the VM uses a secondary IP address, it's still on the same network as my internet connection. There are computers that belong to other people, who I do not want to give access through my router(even though their computers are picked up by my DHCP). I was given only one IP address for usage on my computer. This is why I wanted to add some kind of an authentication procedure(like some sort of PPPoE login maybe?)so as to prevent unauthorized usage my my connection. The question is, 'What are my options for the authentication procedure, and where do I start?' If my explanation was unclear.

I was attempting to setup our 7204 Cisco router to use RADIUS for authentication via the AAA commands. I must have messed up when configuring it as it comes up via TELNET asking for a username and password but doesn't take my AD credentials. How might I login to this router to fix the config? Do I need to do a password recover process?
One note, I didn't save the running-config to startup-config, so if I restart the router will it load the startup-config, thus overwriting the running-config that wasn't working?
The original network had a Zylex router, Netgear Switch. There was 2 pc's, one XP and Win 7. There is also 3 tills connected too. There is VPN network connected too. This emits a wireless signal to connect to a scanning gun and is also used to administrate the entire network. I was told by the Administrator of that network that it shouldn't interfere with the wifi network. The job I was requested to do was to install 3 new wall plates as the Win 7 pc was using a Belkin wireless adapter. There was 2 put inside the office where the XP and Win7 pc's are located. The 3rd was just outside the office. Now all the ethernet connections work 100%. The wifi is another story though. It will show up in the connect too, when you try connect it will disappear/no response from AP/connect then disappear, these are random too. No order to when each is error is displayed. Even when I put in another router the exact same issues happen.I have tried to connect to both routers wifi when it wasn't plugged into the switch. Just the router's turned on with no cables plugged in separately of course, no joy same issue with both.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am probably missing something so obvious, but I have been working on it for three days. I received a new modem DSL 2750B and have it LAN wired to my Dell Studio 1555. I asked my techy step son to hook it up to wireless while I was away. He could not do it and worked with Verizon to create a home network changing the SSID and WPA Key. They spent about a hour together on line and could not get the wireless to work and Verizon said its a problem with the Studio 1555.
So, I have been working on it since and can not fix it. The Studio is out of warranty and I have Windows 7 Home Edition. I spent a day and a half to finally get the Function F2 button to work and turn on wireless. This was only possible after downloading the Dell Quick Set and now the Radio On button shows in my Windows Mobility display. I checked my BIOS and Radio, WiFI, and WAN are all enabled.
When I boot up I can see the wireless network showing as available and at excellent strength. I click it to connect and it fails authentication. I ping the router at 192.168.1.1 and it shows both wired LAN and wireless LAN connected. So, I go to Wireless and go through the push button method of signing on to the router, pressing the WPS button on the router. It "spins" for 120 seconds and says fails enrollment.
I am thinking that I should have my laptop and router all reset and eliminate the network Verizon and my step son set up. This would give me a clean start and I can use the SSID and WPA key that came with the router..but, I'm not sure that is it or am I missing something else.
The wireless in our condo requires a user and password to be submitted via a browser to connect to the network. My bluray player does not give this option or have the ability. Is there a way to accomplish this? Is there a bridge or router that can make the authentication to the wireless in the building that I could then connect the blu ray to?

*previously*! i was able to auto connect fine on this home network via wifi.the line and box recently changed, same provider, and now i'm the only one who can't connect.the SSID changed, but i've done all the usual routines, deleting and re-adding manually, etc. but nothing so far...
i *don't* think this is a case of changing gear, but i don't know enough about internet/connection/configuration to fix this. yet!
NB: when i perform the reset on the box as instructed, using the provider's setup software - i am not the account holder - for the wifi, it shows connected very briefly in the animation, and then goes off again; this is the authentification/verification failing, i conclude.
so: with what is said above, i'm wondering if my antivir is to blame, or the windows firewall settings.or malwarebytes.i'm going to study the info i've got off my system, and looking at the router via the http routine, offline, as i now have to get off the internet(...); i'll get the infos together so i can post something useful.
I realize there are a few other threads on this subject. Ive followed some of the advice and I still can not connect. I am currently connected via Ethernet cable but I cannot connect to wireless. I have removed all the stored networks. My event log states: [code]....
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust a basic question regarding MAC based authentication of AP with ACS. The scenario is - If I have a ACS installed and I want all my Cisco 3502 APs to be authenticated on MAC basis via ACS. I know that AP mac is used as a username and password at ACS so that whenever we plugin the new AP in the network, it gets authenticated via ACS first and if the AP is authorized to be used in network then only it gets the IP address from DHCP.
My question is - What will happen, if the AP is connected in local mode on a remote location and the WLC, ACS & DHCP are in Data center. The traffic coming from remote location will pass through the Remote-site router and during that pass, it will remove the source mac address of AP and put the router interface MAC address as source, so how will the ACS authenticate the AP in that case.
When working in a LAN I know its possible, but how will it work over the WAN.
I am in the process of migrating from ACS 4.1.1.23 to ACS 5.4.I have migrated our users and Network Device Groups and configured external Identity stores like AD and RSA.I want to authenticate our Wireless users with AD and VPN users through RSA.I am unable to create policies to get this UP and working.
