Computer Is Not Recognizing Network
Sep 15, 2012When I plug in my Belkin my Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled, however is disabled when the router is connected. I cannot gain access to internet through Belkin G router, but can through my ISP router. I've tried IP/Config/all, (Nothing). The problem started when I changed something in Firefox (About:Config) attempting to change URL Search engine from Yahoo to Google, and that's when the problems started.Now my (Desktop) Computer doesn't recognize network, and I can no longer gain access to Net w/Belkin G wireless router...however, router will allow temporary access to internet when plugged up anyway (2 Android phones, 2 laptops), but the desktop will not connect.

Jul 1, 2011I have a compaw CQ61 that is using the operating system windows 7 64x.
The problem occurred today when logging onto windows. Windows tells me that the connection i have to the router is limited. Other devices i have in the house are capable of connecting to the wifi router. When deleting the connection and trying to reconnect to the router, it brings up the message that it is taking longer than expected to establish a connection and then eventually brings up the message "limited connetion"
When trying to connect the laptop to the router via cable, it doesn't even recognise that it is connected and does not establish a connection.
When using the windows connection troubleshoot, it detects a driver problem with both the wifi adapter and the Lan adapater. Therefore i uninstalled and reinstalled both devices but still suffered the same problem.
When clicking the connection i am attempting to connect to, right click status, details.. everything is in blank, it gives no information regarding to the connection.

Mar 26, 2011I'm trying to install a WMP54G PCI Version 4.1 in my Windows 2000 Pro SP4 computer. I ran the setup cd before installing the card, then took out the disk. After installing the card and powering the computer, the Available Wireless Network screen didn't appear. I also didn't get the Network Monitor icon on the taskbar. Network Monitor appears in the start menu, but can't be started. Device Manager says the card is working properly and there are no conflicts.
I uninstalled the software, removed the card, and repeated the installation process with the same end result. The card light blinks like it is receiving data. I'm using a Linksys WRT54G2 router. Both my desktop (W7) and my laptop (Vista) connect just fine. How can I get my W2K computer on the network?

May 9, 2011Signed in to the network place and have an excellent signal. When I go to internet explorer it says that no way. I have a desk top and Vista. I believe I can probably get there simply if I just know how. I am showing that the wireless is up and ready to go. Have gone to all the tools and control desk.

Costumer support didn't tell me anything but reinstall the drivers.

Feb 25, 2013I have a weird issue with my daughter's laptop. It will connect to the wired network, and give internet access, but it won't allow any connections via a wireless network adaptor.The laptop is on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.In device manager it says the wireless adaptor is working properly. The drivers are the latest. Down in the notification area it says "not connected - no connections are available". She has a wifi switch (Fn+F3) on the laptop, but switching it makes no difference. I have an old desktop pc that connects via a USB wifi dongle, so I plugged the dongle into the laptop. It installed without problems, but in the notification area it says the same thing, "not connected - no connections available" So now I'm thinking, "what sits between the network adaptors and Windows? How come it will connect on wired, but not wireless?"
This all started when I updated her Atheros wifi driver. From that moment on it wouldn't connect using wifi. I thought I had somehow physically broken the wifi adaptor hardware, so I bought a new one (a Killer n1202), but installing it made no difference. It's as though I have somehow altered the way that Windows communicates with any wireless adaptor.When I go to the command line and type "ipconfig /all", there is no entry for "wireless LAN adaptor wireless network connection", as there is on my other laptop.

Aug 15, 2012Have an older laptop running XP Home, Desktop running XP Pro with printer on it. Wireless network setup and doing fine for bidirectional file share and print share from old lappie to desktop. All worked great.Bought a brand new high end laptop with Win 7 (not impressed). Finally got the Win 7 new one to recognize both older computers on the Win 7 computer and was able to access file share and print on the desktop. Thought I was doneNope, now while I can see the old lappie and it can see it in the Win7 computer both directions give me cannot access the drive or specific files even though it "sees" themAll files and disks are set to full share. No password is required or any homegroup is setup on the win 7 system. I've been in the bus. a long time so you know I'm at the end of the rope. All searches through knowledge base and the web have yielded no results to this.I did find an absolute to this in insuring that both systems have the same workgroup. Changed the old lappie to the right name. Made no difference in access (after several reboots). Obviously can't run Easy Transfer with this situation.
Now problem #2. I changed the old lappies workgroup to the same as the Win7 computer in the hopes of fixing this. Made no difference but now I have two iterations my XP laptop in the Win 7 system.When selected, the info for one has the old workgroup and selecting the other shows the new workgroup (matching the Win7 workgroup).Anyway, throwing up my hands in frustration and disgust. Find no way to even dump the old workgroup map listing. Jeez. Sure glad they (M/S) made this better?
Home Network :: Windows 7 Can't See XP Computer
Mar 20, 2013I finally was able to connect two of my computers up to share files. The only problem is My Win7 computer can't see the xp computer although the Xp can see the Seven. When I first set it up Explorer showed the name of the Xp but when I clicked on it the dialog said it couldn't find the computer. The Xp name was in all caps and when I checked on the Xp the name was all lower case so I tried to change the name. When I tried, the OK button was grayed out so I went in to So I clicked on More and was able (I thought) to change the name there. I had to reboot and when I did the computer had just appended the DNS entry I had to give to the original lowercase name.
I was finally able to rename the XP computer! I changed the name to NETBOOK all caps like I had originally thought it was. BUT it makes no difference to the Win7 machine it still can't see the XP machine. I did a refresh and the Xp's name NETBOOK showed up But I am still back where I started from because when I click on it a dialog box just says that it can't access ||NETBOOK.
Recognizing Network But Not Connecting?
Apr 25, 2011Recently the home wireless network was upgraded to 802.11n with WPA2-PSK security. There are currently 3 laptops successfully connected and running the internet.
I have a desktop computer that recently had the NIC card upgraded because beforehand no connections were being recognised. Now there are connections being recognised but when I go to connect to the home network (Which has full signal) it begins to connect, it says "Waiting for Network" then after 2 or 3 minutes it just stops, no error message or anything. Ive also tried moving the tower closer to the router but this also does not work, it begins to connect to the network and then stops and says "Unable to connect to wireless network".
Another thing that might be of use, I am unable to access "ipconfig" in the terminal, I type "ipconfig" in run, then the terminal will pop up and close instantly.

I have two other desktops hardwired and two laptops on the wireless that work fine. The two laptops are in the same room as the Clear 'modem/router', while the Win7 box is not, if that matters. I would logon to the network on the laptop through the desktop, type in the password and I was good to go. Suddenly the password does not work. The printer works fine through the desktop. I drove last night to my mother's house and proceeded to connect to her own wifi router wirelessly. Although my sister's computer that's on windows 7 connects ably, and both our iPhones connect, my computer will not. My computer finds the network( it is unsecured without a password if that makes a difference ) connects, receives an ipv4 address in ipconfig, yet does not obtain Internet access. It labels the network as an "unidentified network".

I am wondering how difficult it is to add a computer to the network so it can log into our domain and all that.I just had to reformat one of the computers and would normally wait for our network guy to do it remotely but If i could do it myself it would save time (and money). I am already an administrator and basically i just need to make it so the log in prompt when windows starts has our office network listed as the domain instead of jus the local log in.
