View 14 Replies View RelatedI walked in to the room and my 1 year old daughter was carrying my laptop. I turned it on and now I no longer have the option to connect to wireless networks. It's like the computer doesn't recognize a wireless card. I have an old dell with windows xp. At first thought I figured that she may had dropped it and dislodged the card, so I took the cover of the slot off and everything seems to be in place. The wireless card is a broadcom.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I plug in my Belkin my Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled, however is disabled when the router is connected. I cannot gain access to internet through Belkin G router, but can through my ISP router. I've tried IP/Config/all, (Nothing). The problem started when I changed something in Firefox (About:Config) attempting to change URL Search engine from Yahoo to Google, and that's when the problems started. Now my (Desktop) Computer doesn't recognize network, and I can no longer gain access to Net w/Belkin G wireless router...however, router will allow temporary access to internet when plugged up anyway (2 Android phones, 2 laptops), but the desktop will not connect.
View 11 Replies View RelatedRecently the home wireless network was upgraded to 802.11n with WPA2-PSK security. There are currently 3 laptops successfully connected and running the internet.
I have a desktop computer that recently had the NIC card upgraded because beforehand no connections were being recognised. Now there are connections being recognised but when I go to connect to the home network (Which has full signal) it begins to connect, it says "Waiting for Network" then after 2 or 3 minutes it just stops, no error message or anything. Ive also tried moving the tower closer to the router but this also does not work, it begins to connect to the network and then stops and says "Unable to connect to wireless network".
Another thing that might be of use, I am unable to access "ipconfig" in the terminal, I type "ipconfig" in run, then the terminal will pop up and close instantly.
I set up a network several years ago. The network was to use a printer between an old desktop with XP and a laptop with Vista. This has worked very well until several weeks ago. I would logon to the network on the laptop through the desktop, type in the password and I was good to go. Suddenly the password does not work. The printer works fine through the desktop. We have had several lightening storms in our area recently.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a small office with 5 computers. All are Windows 7 and networked via a domain and a central server. Internet is T1 - we have a modem, router, and switch in that order. One of my computers just stopped recognizing the network and has no internet. I have checked all the cables and know that the internet is running to the computer because I have a VOIP phone on the same line that works fine. The computer can recognize the Network card and says that it is functioning properly. All other computers are functioning properly and are all able to see the network and have internet.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy network consists of a main computer connected to Internet via cable and a modem. I also have an xbox 360 connected via the modem's wireless. I am using a netgear wireless adapter for the xbox, I also have another pc in the same room as the xbox, keep in mind the main pc and these others are multiple rooms apart. Now my issue is that the other pc is not recognizing the wireless adapter, and I know the adapter works because I've been using it on the xbox and it works perfectly. Now I went into connect to and it's not showing anything wireless or netgear associated. Also forgot to mention I am using the same adapter for both just unplugging from one and connecting to other.

I believe I can probably get there simply if I just know how. I am showing that the wireless is up and ready to go. Have gone to all the tools and control desk.

One minute it was connected to the internet, the next it was on and off, I reset it and restarted and it wasn't recognized. Yesterday I booted up my new custom desktop and today I installed my wireless PCI card. The drivers are installed and it recognizes one or two networks in my vicinity, but my home network and probably about 10 more are not showing up. I tried re installing the drivers but no luck. I was able to get my network to appear about 50% of the time I searched. I also was able to rarely establish a connection, but the speed was extremely slow and was lost in less than a minute.

FYI...I do have the card working using the Cisco's Airnet Utility but my work requires us to use the Dell utility for security purposes.
Also, when I view the wireless utility it says No Adapters on the tab.
So I am using a dell inspiron 600m. I have problems with the wireless Internet (well any Internet for that matter). It tell me that there is no supported wireless adapter. The weird thing about it is that if I reinstall windows (windows xp, sp3) and the drivers then it works. But the next day it has the same problem.Tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers.Switching off all antivirus and firewall settings
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a D-link WBR-2310 wireless router connected to a ZyXEL P-600 series modem. Everything worked fine untill a couple days ago when I had a power surge; since then the wireless router won't show on the modem that the ethernet cable is plugged in, and I get no wireless or DSL internet. I called the internet service provider, and they told me to reset both the modem and the router, which I did and it worked fine for about an hour; then it didn't recognize the cable again. I thought maybe it was the ethernet cable itself so I bought a new one, and it didn't correct the problem. When I hook any of the cables up directly from the modem to the labtop or the pc the ethernet light comes on and I have internet connection again. Why doesn't my router recognize the cable?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI own a Dell Studio 1747, i7, 8GB, etc.It has a DW1520 Wireless-N half-mini card.Yesterday I encountered a problem with my wireless adapter when it stopped recognizing my home network (wireless), although it did recognize other networks as the neighbors.I did every reasonable step while trying to restart the router, then disable and enable wireless, then restarted the laptop.Nothing worked and it could not recognize the network nor to connect to it as a hidden network. After taking a (not so good) advise from a friend, I cleared the wireless network list and then uninstalled the adapter from the device manager.I then restarted again and counted on the Windows 7 (home, 64 bit) to re-install the adapter.
Since then I'm experiencing bigger trouble when I probably missed a driver or a device.I tried to download and install the drivers for the adapter from Dell's size and got "R249128.exe", then installed it. Still no change.I cannot enable the wireless connection at all and when doing a diagnose to the "Wireless Network Connection" I get the message: "There might be a problem with the driver for the wireless network connection adapter".Since I am clueless now, although I do plan to check with a Linux boot cd that the adapter is working.
I have recently reinstalled the Vista 32 bit OS on my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. The wireless card installed is a Dell 1395 WLAN mini card. I checked and the card and it is enabled. If I connect the internet cable it works. When I search for a wireless network, none appear even though other computers are accesing the router that is next to the computer.
I have completed all of my windows updates and have tried to download the driver, but cannot find the one for the Vista 32 OS for Inspiron 1525.Dell Inspiron 1525 service tag # <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy.
I recently upgraded to the EA4500 and the only issue I'm having is that it will not recognize my static DNS settings, which worked fine on my older E2000. No other hardware has changed except the router.I've tried both Google DNS and OpenDNS. In either case, the DNS settings can be entered and saved in the Basic Settings tab, but when I go to the admin tab, it shows my ISP's deafult DNS.

I also have bad range with this router where I am only about 20ft from the router (2 walls in between) but I get about 3 bars out of 5 on my Windows 7. Could it be because I purchased a refurbished product directly from Cisco?
My Motorola 850G router is several years old and working fine. However, my wi-fi connection is presently "unsecured" and I need some assistance as to how to go about setting up a secure network. My browser is not recognizing the router's default IP address.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a E4200 router, and I had previously plugged in a small external hard drive just to test the functionality. The router seemed to recognize the storage, and the computers on the network could see it as a shared drive. Now I have plugged in a Seagate 7200 internal hard drive inside a Rocketfish enclosure, but the router is not recognizing anything. I just upgraded the firmware to 1.0.04, but there was no change. Are there problems using an enclosure rather than just plugging in an external hard drive?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought an EA6500 router mid january. Firmware is 1.1.28.146856 from day 1 I used this new router. I attached my 750Gb Maxtor OneTouch 4 USB disk to it to share data over my network. I was able to define shares on it. Perfect. .. until I wanted to copy several GB's to this disk. It indicated it would take more than 1 day to finish this copy. So I removed this disc from the router (after removing it in the USB menu). I copied the data from my pc to the disc and attached it back to the router. From then on, it always indicates that no disc is present. Resetting the router did not work. Attaching a USB stick to the router does not cause a problem. It is visible and I can copy data to it. After attaching my Maxtor again, it shows no stations attached... (sharing a disk via the router was one of the reasons for buying this type)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a compaw CQ61 that is using the operating system windows 7 64x.
The problem occurred today when logging onto windows. Windows tells me that the connection i have to the router is limited. Other devices i have in the house are capable of connecting to the wifi router. When deleting the connection and trying to reconnect to the router, it brings up the message that it is taking longer than expected to establish a connection and then eventually brings up the message "limited connetion"
When trying to connect the laptop to the router via cable, it doesn't even recognise that it is connected and does not establish a connection.
When using the windows connection troubleshoot, it detects a driver problem with both the wifi adapter and the Lan adapater. Therefore i uninstalled and reinstalled both devices but still suffered the same problem.
When clicking the connection i am attempting to connect to, right click status, details.. everything is in blank, it gives no information regarding to the connection.
So this morning I was planning to reset my router because my internet was feeling a bit laggy. Omce i did, its lights turned on except for the ethernet light. It was working perfectly last night
Ive tried resetting the router a few times with no results
ive ran the Windows troubleshooter with it recognizing that:
The Local Area Connection adapter is disabled: Detected
Enable the wired network adapter: Not run
Have the following set up: cable modem>wifirouter>gigabit ethernet switch>to 16 ports throughout house. When I connect a second wifi router to any port around the house, the internet does not work with connecting to that specific router, however, if I use a lan cable and connect direct with my mac or cpu, internet works fine. wifi routers are not communicating with lag ports
