I've used the windows 7 for 9 month. One day when I came back to office. It can still connect to internet through server 2000 but can't access the public drive P:. It seems windows 7 can't locate the P: Is it any way to correct.
View 2 RepliesWhen I moved in to my roommate's house, her computer was already set up with an unsecured wireless network listed as Open and Disabled requiring no password. All of a sudden, it now has a lock next to the name in the list of wireless networks and asks me for a password when I try to connect. My roommate knows NOTHING about computers and has no idea how it happened. She has an Arris modem, Windows 7. I tried typing in the common IP address for Arris and I did get to a screen giving a lot of info about the system. But there was no where to log in or change any passwords.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI booted into Windows 7 today after not using it for a while, and I saw "some network drives were unavailable" in the corner of my screen. I disconnected the drives, and used map network drive to add a new one. It sees the server, but when I get to "Enter Network Password" every username/password combination results in "Logon failure: Unknown user name or bad password." There are only 2 user names and passwords that are used on my various computers in the house, and no combination of them worked. What's really strange is that the mac server is set for everyone to have read and write privileges.

I can still connect completely but it says with "limited access," which results in me being unable to access the internet at all. The rest of the computers in the house work fine on the wifi and I double-checked the securtiy settings (WAP2 and all that) and it seems fine. What can I do? Tethering to my phone allows me to get on the internet and the computer connects successfully, but no websites will load whatsoever.

Had no problem connecting to my home network via wireless router, but yesterday all of a sudden it stopped working. I have 2 flatmates they both have no problem connecting and my iphone 4 also finds and connects without a problem. View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm a an old disabled guy who uses a hand-me-down Dell Insprion 1150 laptop running Windows XP from bed (where I spend the better part of my days these days) connected via a Microsoft Windows Network to a couple of old hand-me-down PCs in the kitchen, one running Win 2K and the other running XP.The network worked fine for a while, but then I started having problems with the PC running XP. Now when I'm working from the laptop in bed, and click on an icon representing a drive or folder or file on the PC running XP, it takes 30 seconds or longer to make the connection. And all during that time the mouse pointer on the laptop has turned into that danged hourglass. My connection to the PC running Win 2K works fine. Also, at the same time this network slowdown with the XP PC started occurring, that same PC running XP starting stalling or freezing or hanging up on shutdown. So I'm wondering if these two problems are related.

Last week the boss and I went out of town for some off site training leaving a single employee in charge of holding down the fort. When we came back we ran into a whole slew of problems not the least of which being that one of our graphics computers doesn't seem to want to recognize the work network anymore. It seems like the employee who we left (who, of course, "didn't touch anything") must have disconnected the computer from the network and started a new one as it is connected to one simply entitled "network". The issue I'm running into now is that when I check the network list the work network is not showing up at all. I've checked and I can ping the other computers on that network, they are all connected to the same network adapter, I just can't seem to get this one computer onto the preexisting work network.

I have an ADSL connection through Canal Digitaal, which I believe uses the KPN network. My Zyxel 2601 modem/router is usually accessed at 192.168.1.254. The following devices are connected to it: two iphones, a Macbook Air, an Apple TV 3 and a Mac Pro.all devices except the Mac Pro. Looking closer I found in their respective settings that they connect to 192.168. 2.254. All have somehow been assigned IP addresses on the 192.168.2.xxx network. The Mac Pro remains on the 192.168.1.xxx network.Going to 192.168.2.254 launches a login page for a KPN router called Arcadyan ARV7519 which is on ANOTHER SSID than my wifi network. Nevertheless, all my devices say they are connected to my network SSID but with IP addresses in the 192.168.2.xxx range.Does it have to to with the channels used by the respective routers or is there some phishing or such going on? What can I do to ensure that my devices stay on my Zyxel network?Weirdly, the SSID of the Arcadyan router doesn't normally show up in my list of nearby networks. It only shows sometimes.Also - in case it is relevant - when I try to access 192.168.1.254 from my Mac Pro I am able to log in, meaning I reach the welcome page of my Zyxel router though it takes a very long time for it to load.

There are three other laptops in the house which can still detect that wireless network and connect to it except that one now. View 5 Replies View Relatedmy primary source of internet at my house for the passed year is an at&t 3g usb modem (sierra wireless lightning), becuase i live in the middle of nowhere (only other option is satellite). Up until now i've been using a wireless ad hoc network to share the connection with multiple computers. I just purchased a cradlepoint router that is compatible with my usb modem so I can have a "real" wireless network in my house. I set it up yesterday and so far its working great, I have a wii streaming netflix, an android tablet, an iphone and two laptops (running vista, and win7 respectively) currently connected. The problem is my 3rd laptop, also win7. It is my primary computer that I use for business and absolutely essential that its connected to the internet. It (seems) to connect to the wireless network just fine, but gives me a "no internet access" error.
This laptop will connect to other wireless networks: it always connected to the ad-hoc, it will connect to my wifi at work and the network at my boyfriends house, also i just tried it with the verizon 3g mobile hotspot app on my droid and it connected right away. It also works just fine with a wired connection to this router (ethernet). I'm not sure where to start since every other device in my house is working with this network and this laptop will connect to other wireless networks.
ps/ Going through the windows onscreen troubleshooter it will either tell me "there is a problem with your broadband modem" or "There is a problem communicating with DNS server" (but it wont fix it)... and after going through endless google searches, i've done everything thats been suggested so far (making sure dhcp is enabled, powercycling the router/modem, updating drivers, ipconfig release/renew, disabling the firewall).
I had an issue with my Win 7 networking on LAN but no problem on wifi. When I plug in the network cable, it takes very long time to detect, and when it does, it shows Unidentified Network - No Internet Access and stays as public network. I do not have the normal options to choose Home, Work or Public Network. This happen at my work place. But my colleagues which on Win 7 have no issue. I tried to uninstall the anti-virus, disable the window firewall, but still fails to detect. There are few LAN port at my work place but it produce the same issue, very, very slow to detect.

I opened up port 1723 with PPTP protocol on my E4200 router.On the client i am running win7 x64 as well. I am able to connect to the vpn, from another internet connection, but there is no local network acess. It says the status is No Internet Access. and the IP that is assigned is the 169.x.x.x one that windows defaults when it doesnt find a dhcp server.How can i get the client to connect with full local network access. Dell Inspiron 1520 Windows XP SP 3?My Dell suddenly will not connect to access point / wireless router / DSL. Other computer in house connects fine. Computer is auto-updated by Windows, McAfee, Secunia, and frequently checked with System Mechanic, McAfee, Lavasoft, MalwareBytes. My internet suddenly disappeared, as in, it doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure as to when it disappeared due to my personal absence, but from what I heard it was either during 'starting a game' or 'installing firefox add-ons updates'. Internet does work on other computers sharing the same internet (wired and wireless). Changing wiring.

My Laptop stopped having internet access. I am able to connect to my Linksys (says Limited Access) but then it states I do not have internet access. I read other forums and tried to do the "command prompt" but when I try to run as administrator it tells me "The specified service does not exist as an installed service". My windows 7 computer was connected to my home's wireless network yesterday perfectly normally. I drove last night to my mother's house and proceeded to connect to her own wifi router wirelessly. Although my sister's computer that's on windows 7 connects ably, and both our iPhones connect, my computer will not. My computer finds the network( it is unsecured without a password if that makes a difference ) connects, receives an ipv4 address in ipconfig, yet does not obtain Internet access. It labels the network as an "unidentified network".
