Laptop Suddenly Says Connected With Limited Access To Wifi?
Nov 20, 2011
I use a laptop and recently the wifi has stopped working for me. I can still connect completely but it says with "limited access," which results in me being unable to access the internet at all. The rest of the computers in the house work fine on the wifi and I double-checked the securtiy settings (WAP2 and all that) and it seems fine. What can I do? Tethering to my phone allows me to get on the internet and the computer connects successfully, but no websites will load whatsoever.
My laptop will not stay connected to wifi for more than a few seconds before 'limited access' appears. It connects and disconnects repetitively.i have a 3mobile wireless dongle. Other laptops stay connected no problem and i am always beside the dongle with full coverage. if i click the network icon several times on the bottom right it reconnects for a few seconds again,I have discovered that if i run 'funkypool' in the background the connection generally stays, but not 100%, but 90% anyway.this may possibly be because its java and always refreshing itself i think. it doesn't matter whether or not im plugged in or using battery but i did change the controls for automatically putting the wireless to sleep mode so i doubt that unless ive done it wrong.
I have a laptop with a wireless connection to a netgear router. My Internet work perfectly, however after a certaiN amount of time I can't access the Internet although it still stats that I am connected. It reads " connected with limited access". I then have to restart my laptop to gain Internet access again. I have other computers and laptops and tablets that don't share this problem.
I have connected my laptop to many many networks, but this is the first time this happened. I went to my moms today, and triied connecting but it only says limited access and full bars, and sometimes it doesnt even say its limited access...I have restarted modem Deleted network file (or whatever yhou call it, its in manage network. makes it like ive never joined it)Checked if connection switch was off on my laptop (Wasnt)Disconnected and reconnected multiple times Cry a little And restarted computer .What can i do?
His laptop is windows7 installed and it's unable to connect to the home router. It worked until afternoon, then the laptop was off for a while and since then it's not connecting. Rebooted both router and laptop several times. Other devices in house connects to the router but the laptop shows no connection present.
Have HP laptop which was working fine but suddenly I cannot enable wifi button. Will not turn blue when I press it. Have gone into control panel then mobile settings which shows wifi disabled but will not let me enable it.
I have a Netgear N300 wireless router. My laptop is Sonay Viao, running Windows 7. This morning my internet was unreliable, and dropping every minute or so. Trying to trouble shoot, I switched the router off then on again. Now I have no wireless signal between my laptop and router. The router doesn't seem to be recognising the security password. I have not changed the password - this is still the original password for the router. Other devices are still talking wirelessly to the router.
Ok i have a dell inspiron m5030 running windows 7. The wifi card that came with it is the atheros 9285. It was working then out of know where i logged off and logged back in when i changed classes and it doesnt work anymore. In the device manager it says it is installed but cannot start.
(Before this I was able to connect with wifi almost instantly without a problem.)
I was using the Internet fine lastnight switched on my acer laptop this morning and wasnt connected to the router. I tried connecting but it just fails. I'm still able to connect with my iPad and iPod. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapter however this fails to successfully install. I've searched for hours but can't find a solution. I'm also unable to reset the router etc because I live in china and the router is in a roommates room whose door is locked.
how to use a computer in the time before Windows, comfortable with using command prompt. Have fixed many issue over the years with old and crappy computers, through research. Not very familiar with wireless connections. Last week laptop started freezing on Windows load, going automatically to safe mode. If I restart the computer after loading in safe mode, Windows opens fine the second time. Have tried stopping all other programs from loading at start up. If I do a system restore, everything works fine for a few days, then starts freezing on Windows load again. When Window does load I get the application error: The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0150002) click ok to close. but can still log in to Windows. Also, When I plug my cell phone, via USB to computer it charges fine and can upload and download between the phone and laptop, however, if I connect a (USB) thumb drive I cannot open the folder, save to it or open from it. This is the issue I wish to fix first so I don't have to keep switching between my ancient and slow CPU and my Laptop trying to fix the above problem(s): Laptop recently stopped connecting to home WiFi (automatically or manually.) Ran troubleshooters, suggested I do a full power off the router and turn it back on. Did that still not connecting. Did a full power off of laptop and modem and router and restarted everything. Still doesn't work. Used manual Diagnostic tool and it fails the association test, suggests that I check the profile. I don't know much about wireless as I said, so I do not know what profile I need to check or where it is located. The laptop does connect sporadically to the internet at home, via WiFi, for a few minutes at a time on its own, according to the wireless network connections. During this time I see one of two messages in wireless network connections: Unidentified network or limited access. If I go into the network sharing centre it says I am connected to an unidentified public network and shows that this network is not connecting to the internet. If I use the manual diagnostic tool at this time it passes the association test but fails the ping test.
Distance from the router does not seem to make a difference.Often when it is disconnected I cannot even see my router in the list of available wireless network connections.I can connect wireless to the router from my phone and have had no problems even while the laptop is unable to connect and the old CPU I am currently on, which is a wired connection, has had no trouble either. Other things I tried:I've scanned for hardware changes in my network connections: none and tried updating my driver software: nothing to update all are enabled.
I am having trouble with a Vista Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop that says it is connected to my Linksys router, but has limited connectivity. It's this way with both a wired and wireless connection. I have 4 other computers in the house that all connect with no problems. The Dell laptop connects in safe mode, but won't connect when in normal mode
I have a dell vostro 1520 laptop. The wireless internet just stopped working. I reset the switch on the side and nothing. Why is the wifi not working? It only works through ethernet wire.
The wireless Internet at home is not working on my laptop anymore. It's working fine on my mobile as well as with other wireless networks at school for example. No matter what browser I use I usually dont get to any website. Most of the time it says access: local only, or local and internet, or limited connectivity. If I'm lucky at the right time I can open a website but then it's gone again.
One of my computers suddenly is "connected with limited access" to my wireless network. That computer is operating with Windows Vista. The router I'm using as Model WRT-160N V3. My second computer, operating with Windows 7, has complete access; it's the computer on which I'm working right now. I have reset the router (unplugging everything and waiting 15 seconds before plugging in again), and I have rebooted the other computer. I suspect that somehow some of the applicable settings have been modified on the affected computer, but I don't have the knowledge about what the settings should be or where they are maintained.
I recently took my Dell Inspiron1545 out of sleep mode and my wireless internet connection no longer works.i have tried power cycling the 2-wire modem and the Cisco Valet router and resetting as well. I also have another laptop and xbox that use this network and are having NO issues in connecting and working perfectly fine.
The only device not working is the Dell laptop. I've tried removing the network profile, uninstalling the wifi driver and reinstalling after powercycling the computer and still nothing but limited connectivity only The WLAN utility has stated that the "Gateway IP Ping" has failed Now the laptop will connect to internet via LAN cable however will not to WiFi
I have attached the IPconfig spec sheet and hopefully somewhat can steer me in the right direction and get me back up an running.
I am able to connect to my wifi but it shows LIMITED ACCESS and it show no internet access.I also tried to manually enter the same IP ADDRESS of another laptop by which i was able access Internet through the same wifi.
I've just recently bought a second hand Acire laptop is v.good condition, it does everything fine apart from connect via wireless.I have another laptop which can connect on it's wireless and the Acer laptop can get a connection if you use a network cable directly to the router.I have a Sky phone & Broadband package.

I have a notebook connected by Wireless and a desktop connected by cable.Sometimes my wireless connection are limited, but my computer (connected by cable) still working fine.I`ve tried to disable DHCP and input static IP address but I didn't work.I have used for almost one week without problem, and sometimes this problems happens three times in one hour. The only way to reconnect the wireless is restart the TP-LINK and my internet modem.I`m using the latest firmware version.
My laptop connected to internet with wifi, but it cannot use even my laptop detect connected, when i run trobleshooter it's show 'no valid IP address' even i already set up to automatically detect , restart my wifi router and unplug doesn't make any changes
We just moved and got a new ISP, and I have not been able to get a good connection through wifi. When I am connected, it usually goes really slow, and drops every so often. It says that I have 5 bars. I sometimes get a decent connect, but it only lasts a couple minutes. My sister has no problem connecting to the wifi at all on her laptop. I also have never had any problems connecting to wifi before, and I have been able to connect and have decent speeds at my friend's house. I'm on windows 7 the router is a Motorola
I installed the DIR-655 on my home network a couple weeks ago to replace an older model D-Link that failed.
I'm having trouble with my laptop maintaining a connection to the network ever since.

It seems that the wifi stays up until I try to access the internet via the laptop. After a few seconds, the laptop will disconnect, and many times the router seems to reset itself, though not always. This does not happen when using a hard-wired connection. Using the wifi-enabled Android phone doesn't seem to affect the network.
Sometimes the wifi comes back up pretty quickly, but other times it does not. Earlier today, the internet globe light on the router turned from blue to amber. I had to reset the CenturyLink DSL modem for it to work again.
When the network goes does, I get a message on my desktop that a network cable is unplugged, and the network disappears from my available wifi networks that I can see with the laptop. Sometimes I get the "limited connectivity" message.
I have tried changing the 802.11 mode around, and I've changed from Auto Channel Scan to Channel 1. Neither of those have fixed the problem.
I just bought a laptop installed with Windows 8. I want to connect my iPhone to the Internet through the laptop. I have tried using Connectify to set up a WiFi hotspot. It works only with WEP and my iPhone can connect to the Internet but my iPhone disconnects from the hotspot after a while and I need to restart my Connectify hotspot, which is really annoying.I googled online and find that I can use the netsh command to set up the hotspot. I run command prompt in administrator mode and type in the following:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=adhocnetwork key=password
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
And then I share the wired network through control panel > network connections > ethernet > properties.I connect my iPhone to the hosted network and typed in the password. I see a tick next to the SSID, meaning it can connect to the hosted network.I also check the status of the hosted network. Both IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity show Internet. But when I open Safari on my iPhone, it says no Internet.
I got a brand new HP Pavilion dv7-6c20us laptop yesterday. I brought it with me to a buddies house last night, and it was working just fine.
When I got it home today, I set up the Internet connection and everything seemed fine. I started up a downloader for a video game (Diablo 3) and saw the DL speed climb up to the usual 800-850kb/s that im used to seeing on my desktop PC. It slowly started to decrease in speed, though.. All the way down to 80 bytes/s.. and then it stopped. The icon in the lower right side of my screen told me that I had a Limited Access(?) connection.. i then diagnosed the problem.. and it repaired it saying that "The Connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and ther internet is broken" I thought that it could be just because i was upstairs, and my router was downstairs... it should still be within range.. but i couldnt think of anything else. So i moved downstairs and i got it again sitting 5 feet away from the router.
It stays connected and then for no reason at all it just dissapears..or loses the connection.. when instructed it will repair it.. only to have it happen moments later.. I just tried surfing the internet without having the downloader for the game going and it took longer, but it still happened 5-10 minutes later.
For the time being, I just plugged the laptop in directly to the modem.. kinda ruins the point of a laptop though, you know!
My Router says "NETGEAR RangeMax Next Wireless Router WNR834B..and I have a Motorola Surfboard Cable Modem - SB5101n
Have a new Gateway laptop running W8. I have to use Windows diagnostics in Sharing centre to reset the connection although it looks like it is still up.( page cannot be displayed ). Once reset and fixe all is ok until pc goes into sleep mode, then I have to reset again.
Everything worked fine until I went to move my desk to a different area and had to unplug everything. Upon plugging everything back up - my desktop internet works fine, but the laptop says "Connected but no internet access". I've tried working on it for 2 hours unplugging and replugging cords back up and I can't get any internet access on my laptop. I am using a cable modem. Currently I have the blue ethernet cord running from the modem, directly into my computer. I also have a grey cord that apparently was plugged into the router somehow but I don't remember how exactly I had this one plugged up. The cable modem only has one jack, for "ethernet". The router is a Linksys WRT54G and has 4 numbered (1-4) jacks in the back and then one jack for "internet". The laptop is running Windows 7, and the desktop (which the internet runs fine on right now) is running Vista.
I just bought a new laptop and have had issues with it from day one regarding the internet. It connects me to the internet, but then after a few minutes on the task bar where it tells you what you are currently connected to a yellow (!) shows up. It tells me that I am connected to my network, but it says that I do not have any or sometimes even limited internet access. I have other computers in the house (3 laptops, sometimes 4, and 2 desktops) that do not have any issues connecting or staying connected to the internet. The laptop with the issue has Norton installed on it and it is with Windows 7. My ISP is AT&T, DSL. My router is a LinkSys router.
My os is vista I have belkin Wireless router Iam trying to connect my laptop to wireless.it wont have any problem outside of home but at home i click on connect to a network and click on my wireless network and it says sucesfully connected but it is not connected to internet network and sharing center shows unidentified network?
I had bought three modems but when i connect them through wifi they are connected but shows no internet acess.so i am using bsnl brdbnd through wire.but iwant to connect through netgear DGN1000. WIFI
My xps 17 with the McAffee anti-virus is apparently connected to the network but it doesn`t have internet access. I don`t really want to uninstall my anti-virus.
I have an eMachines E527 laptop and until this week I could get on the internet no problem. However, all of a sudden I can't get on at all. The "Network and Sharing Center" shows that I am connected to the network but have no internet access. When I try to diagnose the problem, it says "Your broadband modem is experiencing connectivity issues," yet at the same time my family has 4 other computers that can effortless connect to the internet.
P.S. I can copy and paste the results to the "cmd:ipconfig/all" if needed.
Recently my laptop, which is successfully connected to the wireless network, has failed to recognize shared folders on my desktop and the external hard drive connected to it. Laptop running 7, desktop running XP Pro. 2 days ago it was working fine. Yesterday it stopped working. I have made no changes that I can think of. All of the folders on the desktop and external drive that I want shared are set up for sharing. So, my question is, what do I need to do to again be able to read and write to these folders, especially the ones on the external hard drive. I believe the adjustment has to be made on the desktop, either in the network connections or the file sharing, but the laptop may need adjusted as well.
