Windows 7 - Video Stops Loading?
Dec 16, 2011
While watching videos online (examples, youtube, twitch.tv videos (not stream)), the video stops loading arbitrarily, and won't start loading again unless i refresh the whole page. This happens reasonably frequently (4-5 times in a 20 minute video), but I'm not sure what is causing it. I'm running windows 7,

I bought a DIR-655 for my parents after their old router died in a planned power outage. It's a rev. B1 model running the 2.00 firmware. It worked fine initially for a day or two with great wireless coverage, even in the previously low-signal spots in the house. Then the problems started. The router now has trouble loading any website. What you get is instead a page returned from the router saying something along the lines of "network unreachable, please check you internet settings" (I will go there today or tomorrow so I'll update the post with the specific error). Refreshing the page a few times sometimes makes it load, but extremely slow and then the same thing happens again a few moments later. The same thing happens on both wifi and through the router's LAN ports. If I connect a computer directly to the modem it works just fine, as it has always done before getting this router.I have disable QoS, NAT endpoint filtering and the firewall (SPI). I have also set the WAN port speed to 100Mbit/s in the router, to match what the modem is set to (also had issues with the default setting).

I have been trying to stream videos from my PC to my Xbox 360 via the Windows Media Center app. I've got it all set up, my PC detects the 360 just fine and vice-versa. However, when I go into the app on the 360 and select the video to play, it plays it extremely pixelated. Usually it just freezes up on an extremely pixelated frame while the sound of the video continues on as normal. I've tried MP4, MKV, AVI, WMV, etc. all at multiple resolutions all with the same result.I can stream just fine via HBO, Netflix, Amazon, etc. so I don't think it is my network or internet speed. I've tried putting the 360 on a static IP, I've gone through all the FAQ from Microsoft about enabling Windows Services and the like, none of which has made a difference.I am able to stream to my PS3 just fine, so I am not sure what is going on with the 360.

I posted this on a previous thread along with another question, but since I marked that as answered I'll post it here so people will see it.Is there any way I can use UPnP WITHOUT having to have the videos I want to stream in my WMP library? Windows Media Player has always been a pain for me, from my videos not showing up in the library when I know they're there to not being able to switch audio streams in a video. (If VLC Media Player or iTunes had a UPnP library.

I have a fresh installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit,and whenever I try to download ANYTHING from any website, the download always stops at about 2Mb, as if IE just wont allow anything over 2mb to be downloaded.Nothing wrong with my connection (just a bit slow, compared to the rest of the world), and I have no anti-virus running or other protection software.

I recently replaced my Linksys WRV54G with a Linksys e2000 where I stream H.264 vido in 480p from one computer connected over gigabit to my Media Center running on Windows 7 64 bit connected at 10/100.
Before the router change, I was able to playback video over the network with no problems. If I connect the Linksys WRV54G again, the issue goes away. The Linksys WRV54G does not have gigabit and I have read related issues of video stuttering over gigabit.

We have a Cisco ASA 5510 with Clientless SSL VPN portal. I just found that after installing the last Microsoft Updates, RDP bookmarks stopped working. It keeps asking that I should install Cisco Portforwarder control, and then goes back to the home page. I changed all security settings, tried to install the control manually, but nothing works. Finally, I found that after uninstalling Internet Explorer 8 update KB2675157 it works again.

I just bought an alienware M14x and about 3 weeks after i set it up the LAN and WAN adapters stopped working and i couldn't get a wireless connection or hardwired connection.
I called technical support and they informed me it was due to a generic windows update that wasn't really compatible with my alienware machine. So i did a system restore and now its working fine and i disabled automatic updates.
Its been about a month since then and now I have all these updates that need to be downloaded and I'm not sure which one will cause my network adapters fail again.

I am using a Netgear DG834N modem/router that we moved onto our second phoneline (homeline) that was previously installed on our (now closed down) home office phoneline. We are using the same equipment, provider and provider plan but now we are having major connecting issues. About every second web page will not open. If you refresh, sometimes it will load other times you get the "IE cannot connect to.." This is becoming increasingly frustrating. We run both wireless and hardwired PCs and laptops and use IE, firefox and/or Safari. We run Kaspersky or bitdefender, windows 7 and XP. We can watch re-runs of Tv shows and you-tube no worries. It is the connecting in the first place.

I have a client who's got a Pix501 installed and we're trying to get into it to check some settings. We https: into the device and it asks for the login/pass. This is fine. However, then it opens up a new window: (URL) (Title: Cisco PIX Device Manager Information Window) and give some basic info about the device (Hostname, device, pix version, etc.). THEN, it says "Please do not close this window." and "The Cisco PIX Device Manager will start in another window".

For a few weeks some websites (which are definitely not down) will not load for me....including, for example, talktalkmembers.com, which is useful.Safe mode makes no difference, it's on both IE & firefox, most websites and other net using stuff works fine, it's just some websites time out. Ping requests to those websites time out, turning off proxy settings hasn't worked, various FF tweaks haven't, changed to google free DNS, fiddled with router MTU, cleared cookies etc.

I assume it is sort of network problem or a router problem, I've connected Ethernet cable directly to my Imac but still, same situation either with FireFox or Safari.

I've got a strange problem with my internet connection. I have recently moved and brought my desktop with me. While I am able to connect to the internet in my new place, a weird problem arises: whenever I try to access a new webpage, there is a consistent 5-10 seconds delay before the page actually loads. After the initial delay however, the webpage will load quickly. This problem will repeat itself whenever I try to access a site that is not cached. I have tried switching ethernet cables/wireless adaptars and this problem persists. I have also tried scanning and cleaning my computer yet nothing works. Speedtest.net show that my ping, d/l and upload speed are all fine.
PS: Just to add some information, my new place comes with its own existing router (the building includes internet into its rent), and I am simply plugging an ethernet cable from my computer to it. In addition, my roomates and my laptop seem to be able to access the itnernet fine with this problem. Since this sounds a lot like a DNS problem, I have also tried using OpenDNS and that doesn't work either. In addition, the delay persists regardless whether I am trying to access a website via its domain name or numerical IP address.

seems my PC is having problem opening Facebook page. It doesn't matter if i use ChromeFirefox or Internet Explorer or if it is mine, my friends account or even not logged in, it hangs about 4 minutes, then it loads and then stops responding for another 4 minutes in all browsers simultaneously. I can use it maybe 15 seconds before it stops again for another 4 minutes. Even on 9gag, page opens normal but chat also hangs because its connected with facebook...-_-My internet connection is fast, 10MB/s, and all other pages work splendid! My pc spec: Phenom B60 x4 3.4Ghz 4GB RAM, ATI 6870, 500GB HDD 7200rpm. When my wife gets chemo, we spend the day at the hospital, and I login to their WiFi as a guest. When I do, I make a connection with no problem, but after the initial page comes up, additional pages load very, very slowly regardless of what browser I use (Chrome, Firefox, or IE). I don't have that problem on any other network. Moreover, other users on that same hospital network can login as guests without encountering that problem. So, the problem is not browser-related, and it occurs only when a single laptop connects to a specific network. I'm using a Dell XPS 16, running Windows 7 Pro with Windows Firewall.

I'm having problems loading web pages. It's inky on one laptop as other devices and pcs work. The laptop in question is running windows 7 and I haven't made any substantial changes to it as of late. The network centre says I'm connected to the router with full bars. When I use chrome it comes up with a dns lookup failed error, IE7 just says cannot display, when I click diagnose nothing comes up. So far I have changed the dns server addresses to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 under internet protocol version 4. This worked until restarting the laptop. I've also typed, under advice, something in the cmd box for dns flush

I can log in my facebook account, check notifications, but that's it. Images won't load, the page won't render properly, can't check messages or use games or apps. Another thing worth nothing is that the page loads extremely slowly. Most other websites work normally. This has been going on for 3 days now.
I've done lots of troubleshooting already. I normally use Google Chrome so I tried IE and Mozilla but the page looks the same. The default font (Times New Roman) and white background are the symptoms of something (what?). I've only got a wireless connection and I'm suspecting there could be a problem there because my wife has the same problem on her laptop. We share the wifi connection. We've tried a lot of things: clear browsing data (cache, cookies, etc.) flush dns, restart computers, browsers, update anti-virus software, but no success, so far.
This looks normal:
C:>ping facebook.com
Pinging facebook.com [69.171.224.37] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 69.171.224.37: bytes=32 time=317ms TTL=230
Reply from 69.171.224.37: bytes=32 time=314ms TTL=230[code]....
So something must've happened around 3 days ago when everything still worked fine. One thing I haven't investigated is this wifi device: Huawei E585. I have no idea how to do any troubleshooting with it. one more thing I tried: proxy servers. I thought our ISP might have changed something somewhere (although all our friends have no problems) so I tried to log in through a few different proxy servers. The login page looked normal so I logged in. The page kept loading forever but it never showed any content. I didn't even get to see that Times New Roman font. But then again, it couldn't be an issue with my facebook account because I can use it normally on my cell phone. Well, as normally as you can use it on a cell phone.

Whenever I load a gallery of images or even when I open up a couple of websites, sometimes the image/website won't load and is perpetually loading, only to time out minutes later.I've tried out different browsers (Chrome, Firefox) on my wired desktop and tried this on my Laptop through WiFi with the same two browsers. The result was the same each time. So it's not about faulty computer hardware, software or malware on the machines. [code] When I ran a Speedtest.net test, this weird issue happened on the end-result screen. Normally when you do a test there, you can share/compare etc. But for me, that content did not appear. On Reddit I browsed a couple of ragecomics for my leisure and then some of the img.ur hosted images won't load. I know this issue still exists, because I use Randomly ordered wallpapers / Wallbase.cc to test out the case. By using this link, you're presented with a bunch of random thumbnails. So I scroll down and keep loading thumbnails as fast the website and I can endure. But at one point, it will stop at a random thumbnail, load the first 20% of the image and freeze. Or it will load 20%, freeze, and continue loading the rest. I also tried this out by opening wallpapers, closing them with CTRL+W, repeating this process until one of them refused to load, but when I refreshed the browser it would magically load the image.
I have reset my modem and my router, the router has been restored to factory defaults. So I'm clueless on what could be the cause of this weird issue. Nothing in the LAN has changed, this started about a week ago. I've narrowed it down to the router, but there's nothing in the settings that would cause this behaviour.

Since yesterday, nearly every time I load a web page it either doesn't stop loading or sometimes doesn't even load at all. At first I thought that the problem was just with Chrome, but I've since tried Firefox and Explorer and get the same issue. I've tried scanning for viruses, malware and even ran Boostspeed to see if it will solve the problem, but nothing has worked.
I don't know why this has happened all of a sudden, I've not made any significant changes or installed anything new so I'm stumped. I have the fastest fiber optic package my ISP has, so it isn't down to not having enough bandwidth. Can I try resetting my router with the pinhole at the back, or will that cause me to lose settings, which I won't be able to restore ,and not be able to connect to the internet at all? (I know the routers password)

I've just recently upgraded a Cisco 877 to 887W router.
I basically copied most of the config across to the router with no problem.
ppp chap hostname and password all ok. ATM and Dialer1 interface comes up.
The problem I'm having is when I open Internet Explorer up, default homepage is Google. Google loads up fine, type a search is fine but when you click on the link or type URL, for example BBC News or Sky Sports, it takes a long time to load or times out (Page cannot be displayed)
DNS servers configured on Cisco router are: 8.8.8.8 and Virgin's DNS servers.
NSLOOKUP in cmd prompt it returns IP add no problem. however in web browser it fails except for Google.
However, with the same config on a 877 everything works perfectly...
Cisco 877 running 12.4
Cisco 887 running 15.0

Two days ago, a brilliant guy inserted a different ios in a Cisco Catalyst 6500 and erased the original ios. I have twice downloaded the original ios by xmodem (too much time!) and both of them, when I reload the 6500, it doesn't work: I have the following message:
loadprog: bad file magic number: 0x0 boot:cannot load "bootdisk:s72033-ipservicesk9_wan-mz.122-18.SXF11.bin"
Second time, when the ios uploaded, I checked the sup-bootdisk: and the flashboot: and both have the wrong ios listed, but it wasn't there: I've tried to delete it and squeeze it, but had a message saying "can't delete because the ios is not there" or something like this. I finished formatting both (flashboot: and sup-bootdisk:), tftp the ios, double-checked the bootloader, compared with other identical 6500 and reloaded again, just to find the same message I've written before.
Supervisor 720 PFC3B. Slots for disk0 and disk1 are broken or I can't read them from the rommon.
