I've got a strange problem with my internet connection. I have recently moved and brought my desktop with me. While I am able to connect to the internet in my new place, a weird problem arises: whenever I try to access a new webpage, there is a consistent 5-10 seconds delay before the page actually loads. After the initial delay however, the webpage will load quickly. This problem will repeat itself whenever I try to access a site that is not cached. I have tried switching ethernet cables/wireless adaptars and this problem persists. I have also tried scanning and cleaning my computer yet nothing works. Speedtest.net show that my ping, d/l and upload speed are all fine.
PS: Just to add some information, my new place comes with its own existing router (the building includes internet into its rent), and I am simply plugging an ethernet cable from my computer to it. In addition, my roomates and my laptop seem to be able to access the itnernet fine with this problem. Since this sounds a lot like a DNS problem, I have also tried using OpenDNS and that doesn't work either. In addition, the delay persists regardless whether I am trying to access a website via its domain name or numerical IP address.

Applications such as skype, teamviewer, etc, are all working fine, however, when I try to load certain webpages, such as Facebook and forum boards, they don't load, just stay white screen.
Youtube, google, both load, I imagine this is because they're both on the Google servers, apart from any Google related sites, I can't find any that will load for me.
I think this is a problem wth my DNS addresses, I've tried a range of solutions, clearing my DNS, changing my IPv4 address, restarting the router, PC, but I can't seem to find a fix.
Running on windows 7 Home premium
NOTE: I had the Metropolitan police virus yesterday, I did a system restore to remove it, my internet worked fine after, it's only since I've moved from the router at my other house, to the one here that I'm having problems.

I bought a DIR-655 for my parents after their old router died in a planned power outage. It's a rev. B1 model running the 2.00 firmware. It worked fine initially for a day or two with great wireless coverage, even in the previously low-signal spots in the house. Then the problems started. The router now has trouble loading any website. What you get is instead a page returned from the router saying something along the lines of "network unreachable, please check you internet settings" (I will go there today or tomorrow so I'll update the post with the specific error). Refreshing the page a few times sometimes makes it load, but extremely slow and then the same thing happens again a few moments later. The same thing happens on both wifi and through the router's LAN ports. If I connect a computer directly to the modem it works just fine, as it has always done before getting this router.I have disable QoS, NAT endpoint filtering and the firewall (SPI). I have also set the WAN port speed to 100Mbit/s in the router, to match what the modem is set to (also had issues with the default setting).

seems my PC is having problem opening Facebook page. It doesn't matter if i use ChromeFirefox or Internet Explorer or if it is mine, my friends account or even not logged in, it hangs about 4 minutes, then it loads and then stops responding for another 4 minutes in all browsers simultaneously. I can use it maybe 15 seconds before it stops again for another 4 minutes. Even on 9gag, page opens normal but chat also hangs because its connected with facebook...-_-My internet connection is fast, 10MB/s, and all other pages work splendid! My pc spec: Phenom B60 x4 3.4Ghz 4GB RAM, ATI 6870, 500GB HDD 7200rpm. It is manintained good, every 15 days i run malwarebytes, spybot, avast free for custom scan and disk defragmenter.I often get this error: Error 7 (net::ERR_TIMED_OUT): The operation timed out.also this but rarely: Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset.[CODE]

Turn SPI under (Advanced/Firewall) off (uncheck the box).
I was getting slow page loading on Google Chrome and I think IE but don't remember for sure.
Once I unchecked the box for SPI, pages loaded much faster and I didn't have to double-click on links.

When my wife gets chemo, we spend the day at the hospital, and I login to their WiFi as a guest. When I do, I make a connection with no problem, but after the initial page comes up, additional pages load very, very slowly regardless of what browser I use (Chrome, Firefox, or IE). I don't have that problem on any other network. Moreover, other users on that same hospital network can login as guests without encountering that problem. So, the problem is not browser-related, and it occurs only when a single laptop connects to a specific network. I'm using a Dell XPS 16, running Windows 7 Pro with Windows Firewall.

I've just recently upgraded a Cisco 877 to 887W router.
I basically copied most of the config across to the router with no problem.
ppp chap hostname and password all ok. ATM and Dialer1 interface comes up.
The problem I'm having is when I open Internet Explorer up, default homepage is Google. Google loads up fine, type a search is fine but when you click on the link or type URL, for example BBC News or Sky Sports, it takes a long time to load or times out (Page cannot be displayed)
DNS servers configured on Cisco router are: 8.8.8.8 and Virgin's DNS servers.
NSLOOKUP in cmd prompt it returns IP add no problem. however in web browser it fails except for Google.
However, with the same config on a 877 everything works perfectly...
Cisco 877 running 12.4
Cisco 887 running 15.0

webpage A will take 1 second to load, and webpage B will take 6 seconds to load. After a browser refresh, webpage A might take 5-8 seconds to load, and webpage B will take 1 second to load.
Hardware rev A1 Firmware 1.13NA
Router is about 2 years old.
I tried resetting the router prior to the firmware update, no different. This is happening on both PC's. I tried a direct connect to the modem, and it seemed to work fine, but this doesn't always happen.

My wireless connection says i have full bars of signal. When I do a speed test, i get 500-600 kb/s download. Which is what I used to get. However, after I re-installed my wireless adapter's card, the wna3100 netgear, it became extremely slow.
Pages would load slow, I could no longer play League of Legends properly because the ping is too high. Also, I used to have crossfire graphics cards running and the internet was fine, but after reinstallation, I thought I'd turn it off because that's how I fixed it before. But now, even with just one graphics card running, the internet is extremely slow.

I have a Dell Inspiron 2320 computer. I have only had it for 9 months and it is running extremely slow. If I click on a website, it takes forever to load up. When I get frustrated from waiting, I'll hit CTRL + ALT + DEL and go to task manager. When the task manager pops up, all of a sudden the website that I was trying to load, will finish loading. It is very annoying. The computer is only used for searching the internet, a little bit of internet banking, and a few books have been down loaded from amazon to a kindle.

So I have a really neat computer sitting here, 2500K, P8z68-v, samsung 830 64gb ssd, corsair vengeance 16gb, deskstar hdd, firepro v5800
I have a non-descript trendnet 56K v.92 dial up modem installed to pci slot1 on my mobo. The phone company says they can't get a quicker connection than 31.2 Kbps established to dial up users in this area. The real issue is the data transfer rate.I have seen it reach as high as 6.xx Kbps but generally hovers around 2.5 Kbps. Now it is down to 1.xx Kbps and I took the last 48 hours downloading all the updates for windows and several other updates for hard ware etc.Now I need the ATI firepro update and 114 Mb will take over 16 hours at my average speed, and some 32 hours at the new slower speed

I use a dongle from my ISP as my main internet connection source. I needed to do a full system restore because one of the windows system files got corrupted. After the restore, my internet connection was extremely slow. I restarted the computer and I got my normal fast speed but only for about 10 minutes and it is now very slow again (about 10 mins to load Google home page, for example).Internet speed was never an issue before the restore. Also I tried the dongle on my work laptop at home and it's fine.I'm using Windows XP. I've tried everything suggested at Slow Computer/Internet AFTER complete system restore but it is still slow.

I have the revision b version of the dir-655. I'm having a couple issues which im not sure if are related to the dir-655 or something else.
I used to be able to do this, then all of the sudden (I may have changed something) I cannot anymore. The issue is: If I try and access my linux server using http://[My Public IP Address]/ from *inside* my LAN, It will time out and not connect. If I try and access my same public ip address from *outside* my LAN, it works fine.
My router was noticeably slow to respond when navigating the menu system. Then, I changed the ip address to 192.168.0.2 (previously it was 192.168.0.1) and all of the sudden its fast again. I tried rebooting and power cycling before I changed the IP and it was always slow using 192.168.0.1.

I recently received a new router from my broadband company TalkTalk calld Huawaei HG533 Broadband wireless N ADSL 2+ Router which i have physically connected to my home pc. The reason for this was because with my current router, Belkin, when ever i turned on my PC and clicked on IE i would get an error saying IE cannot display webpage and i would have to close IE/Chrome and re-open it and it would display my home page. When i did a google search for gaming sites it would not show it and would again say IE canot display web page. Only after i restarted my machine or router it would work which is terribly anoying.
After initial use of my new router it seemed fine, i was not getting any problems however the above problem seemed to have re-occure again. I've noticed that when i turn on my PC for the first time use and load up IE or Chrome i would get an error saying IE cannot display webpage and would have to either restart the router or PC for it to load my home page. Again, when i do a search for gaming sites it would display the web address and appropirate logo but not the website. It's terribly annoying because i have do this process every single time even though it's a new router. To trouble shoot i've tried to log in as admin and channgel to channel from 1 to 6 which did not work so i changed it back to 1. Can somebody suggest a possible reason why i'm getting these problems and why i have to always close IE or restart my pc/router for it to resolve?

It started a week or so so ago, whenever I tried to connect to a site the page would run very slowly (but once initially connected would run fine). Then today, I haven't gotten a response from any websites; there is just an infinite blank loading screen. I use Google Chrome, and tried switching to the already installed Internet Explorer but my my results were the same. I have been able to make calls on Skype without issue and even downloaded a game from the Microsoft store since the issue started. I am also using the wifi with my phone to post this, so I know it's not a connection issue. Everything using the Internet is working fine, just not the browsers. I am running Windows 8 with Kapersky Internet security (which has never given me an issue). I, also, scanned the computer and manually searched it for any signs of viruses or malware to the best of my ability and found nothing.

For a while in our house we were using only US Cellular Broadband connect, which is essentially a mobile 3G USB adapter. We uninstalled this from all the computers when we recently got Charter cable internet which is being broadcasted wirelessly with a Netgear cg3000d-rg. I know that the US Cellular broadband turns off wifi connectivity, but we made sure to uninstall all the drivers and software. We have 2 comps running XP and one Macbook, all able to connect to the new router. One Acer Aspire One is the holdout. It connected wirelessly fine before, but now will not work. It says it's "connected" and assigns an IP, but no matter what browser it will not load any webpages.

I have 2 laptops and 1 desktop in my household.Lately, I have noticed that webpages take way too long to load. Speedtest reported 2Mbps download and 0.07Mbps upload (that upload speed is not good, is it?)So on my main desktop I looked at the Send/Receive of the packets right after start-up and it showed like 200,000 sent and 7,000,000+ received. that is not normal, right? On my netbook, I looked at the packets and it showed 200,000 sent and 23,000,000+ received. I am thinking there is definitely something wrong with one or both of them. This laptop I am on right now is the only one not suffering from connectivity problems. Without the other two computers connected to the network, my web-surfing is completely normalAnyway, I dont know what the problem is, but I can't do anything on the internet. I can barely open a page on Google with those 2 computers. It's terrible. I have run Virus Scans and Malwarebytes + SUPERantimalware scans and ALL have come back negative. So...[CODE]

My Asus eee pc netbook won't load webpages. It is connected to the internet, but won't load pages. I know it isn't the internet connection because others are able to access it on their computers on the same network.I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling my network adapter. I've put the power save mode on my adapter to off. I uninstalled Norton. I've turned my firewall off. It won't load in Firefox or IE.If I repair my connection, it works for about 30 seconds, and then will stop loading.

So I recently came down to my parents place for a holiday and ever since I started using the internet here many websites are not loading (firefox, ie and google chrome alike) they usually show an error /problem loading page message. All webpages open fine on the wireless router back at my place.
Also, all the webpages seem to load fine on other PC's in the house. I have scanned using kaspersky twice, there were no threats. And I tried using Hotspot Shield - and all the websites load only when hotspot shield is on.

All of the lights on the modem are still on everything says it should be connected but just doesnt work. When i try to open webpages it says DNS Lookup failed. Called tech support they are sending me a new modem atm, but i have 2 other ones around that i have tried and they say that im connected to the internet, but nothing same lookup error and everything so i do not think it is the modem. Flushed dns, manually entered the isps dns , Dont know what else to try at all.
