View 1 RepliesI've just recently upgraded a Cisco 877 to 887W router.
I basically copied most of the config across to the router with no problem.
ppp chap hostname and password all ok. ATM and Dialer1 interface comes up.
The problem I'm having is when I open Internet Explorer up, default homepage is Google. Google loads up fine, type a search is fine but when you click on the link or type URL, for example BBC News or Sky Sports, it takes a long time to load or times out (Page cannot be displayed)
DNS servers configured on Cisco router are: 8.8.8.8 and Virgin's DNS servers.
NSLOOKUP in cmd prompt it returns IP add no problem. however in web browser it fails except for Google.
However, with the same config on a 877 everything works perfectly...
Cisco 877 running 12.4
Cisco 887 running 15.0
I disabled an add on and it slowed my games down from loading

View 1 Replies View RelatedIn the Dual ring network using the token passing method, we have the primary ring and the secondary one where in the normal situation only the primary ring is carrying the token in one direction and when this ring is down the secondary will start into operation and takes the token and rotate in the inverse direction of the primary to reach its destination. Why the secondary ring doesn't continue in the same direction to the destination?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am using a Netgear DG834N modem/router that we moved onto our second phoneline (homeline) that was previously installed on our (now closed down) home office phoneline. We are using the same equipment, provider and provider plan but now we are having major connecting issues. About every second web page will not open. If you refresh, sometimes it will load other times you get the "IE cannot connect to.." This is becoming increasingly frustrating. We run both wireless and hardwired PCs and laptops and use IE, firefox and/or Safari. We run Kaspersky or bitdefender, windows 7 and XP. We can watch re-runs of Tv shows and you-tube no worries. It is the connecting in the first place.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor a few weeks some websites (which are definitely not down) will not load for me....including, for example, talktalkmembers.com, which is useful.Safe mode makes no difference, it's on both IE & firefox, most websites and other net using stuff works fine, it's just some websites time out. Ping requests to those websites time out, turning off proxy settings hasn't worked, various FF tweaks haven't, changed to google free DNS, fiddled with router MTU, cleared cookies etc.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a strange problem with my internet connection. I have recently moved and brought my desktop with me. While I am able to connect to the internet in my new place, a weird problem arises: whenever I try to access a new webpage, there is a consistent 5-10 seconds delay before the page actually loads. After the initial delay however, the webpage will load quickly. This problem will repeat itself whenever I try to access a site that is not cached. I have tried switching ethernet cables/wireless adaptars and this problem persists. I have also tried scanning and cleaning my computer yet nothing works. Speedtest.net show that my ping, d/l and upload speed are all fine.
PS: Just to add some information, my new place comes with its own existing router (the building includes internet into its rent), and I am simply plugging an ethernet cable from my computer to it. In addition, my roomates and my laptop seem to be able to access the itnernet fine with this problem. Since this sounds a lot like a DNS problem, I have also tried using OpenDNS and that doesn't work either. In addition, the delay persists regardless whether I am trying to access a website via its domain name or numerical IP address.
seems my PC is having problem opening Facebook page. It doesn't matter if i use ChromeFirefox or Internet Explorer or if it is mine, my friends account or even not logged in, it hangs about 4 minutes, then it loads and then stops responding for another 4 minutes in all browsers simultaneously. I can use it maybe 15 seconds before it stops again for another 4 minutes. Even on 9gag, page opens normal but chat also hangs because its connected with facebook...-_-My internet connection is fast, 10MB/s, and all other pages work splendid! My pc spec: Phenom B60 x4 3.4Ghz 4GB RAM, ATI 6870, 500GB HDD 7200rpm. When I enter the address it comes up to the page that says "IE cannot display the webpage".I have treid and both gateways and same result. I am also not able to ping the address from the PC within my LAN.I then went to a different network "not within my LAN" and I am able to access the site without any problem. I have accessed it from my phone also without any problems.I have tried to get to this page from the server and also around 5 other computers within the LAN and the same problem each time.I have security settings very low and also the firewalls are off. I tried on a computer that is connected to my LAN with no luck. I then disconnected that same computer and connected it to a different modem not within the LAN and had no prob getting to the site with the same PC.So I know it must have something to do with my LAN but I have no idea what it could be. I have tried everything I can think of and same result each time.

View 10 Replies View RelatedWhen my wife gets chemo, we spend the day at the hospital, and I login to their WiFi as a guest. When I do, I make a connection with no problem, but after the initial page comes up, additional pages load very, very slowly regardless of what browser I use (Chrome, Firefox, or IE). I don't have that problem on any other network. Moreover, other users on that same hospital network can login as guests without encountering that problem. So, the problem is not browser-related, and it occurs only when a single laptop connects to a specific network. I'm using a Dell XPS 16, running Windows 7 Pro with Windows Firewall.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm having problems loading web pages. It's inky on one laptop as other devices and pcs work. The laptop in question is running windows 7 and I haven't made any substantial changes to it as of late. The network centre says I'm connected to the router with full bars. When I use chrome it comes up with a dns lookup failed error, IE7 just says cannot display, when I click diagnose nothing comes up. So far I have changed the dns server addresses to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 under internet protocol version 4. This worked until restarting the laptop. I've also typed, under advice, something in the cmd box for dns flush

View 4 Replies View RelatedI can log in my facebook account, check notifications, but that's it. Images won't load, the page won't render properly, can't check messages or use games or apps. Another thing worth nothing is that the page loads extremely slowly. Most other websites work normally. This has been going on for 3 days now.
I've done lots of troubleshooting already. I normally use Google Chrome so I tried IE and Mozilla but the page looks the same. The default font (Times New Roman) and white background are the symptoms of something (what?). I've only got a wireless connection and I'm suspecting there could be a problem there because my wife has the same problem on her laptop. We share the wifi connection. We've tried a lot of things: clear browsing data (cache, cookies, etc.) flush dns, restart computers, browsers, update anti-virus software, but no success, so far.
This looks normal:
C:>ping facebook.com
Pinging facebook.com [69.171.224.37] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 69.171.224.37: bytes=32 time=317ms TTL=230
Reply from 69.171.224.37: bytes=32 time=314ms TTL=230[code]....
So something must've happened around 3 days ago when everything still worked fine. One thing I haven't investigated is this wifi device: Huawei E585. I have no idea how to do any troubleshooting with it. one more thing I tried: proxy servers. I thought our ISP might have changed something somewhere (although all our friends have no problems) so I tried to log in through a few different proxy servers. The login page looked normal so I logged in. The page kept loading forever but it never showed any content. I didn't even get to see that Times New Roman font. But then again, it couldn't be an issue with my facebook account because I can use it normally on my cell phone. Well, as normally as you can use it on a cell phone.
