Windows 8 Wireless LAN Adapter Disconnected
Jan 3, 2013
The LAN adapter is disconnected since I'm not using it lmao. I meant the wifi adapter. So I bought this new laptop, ASUS G46vw but since yesterday I can't connect to the wifi. It connects but it shows as "Limited Connection - No Internet Access". I already went to the wireless adapter power proprieties - Power Management and unchecked the "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" option. But I still get no internet access. So earlier today I purchased a new video card, a PNY Nvidia Gtx 560. After installing the drivers through the disc, I ended up getting he BSOD, and my PC just kept on restarting automatically. I fixed that problem, and found out that I should install the drivers for it through their website instead. So, after restarting my PC yet again, I tried using the Internet (Chrome) and found out that I have no Internet connection. Now, I am writing this on my iPad using the same router and modem that my PC is supposed to be using, but I keep on checking my WLAN adapter and it says that it is Not Connected. Now I have tried every forum, every post, EVERYTHING related to this problem and not a single thing fixes it. Also, when I do the ipconfig, everything says Media Disconnected and that's it. PS, I tried unplugging/plugging back in my modem and router PPS, Is it possible that when installing my new gcard and psu that I may have messed up with something internally?

Im using an old tower with XP SP3. Most if not all drivers are up to date.I recently have come home from college where the computer connected to the internet through a cable and i now have to use wireless.I went out and bought a Trendnet TEW-648UB Wireless n adapter, installed it and tried to connect to my home network. It has been going from acquiring network address to no connection every ten seconds then repeating. I am fairly sure that this is not the router because i am on my sisters desktop which is a wireless connection and im on the internet. so far i have:
checked to make sure that WZC is enabled, it is.
tried checking and unchecking the Use Windows to to configure my wireless network settings
enabling and disabling my adapter
reinstalling my adapter
repairing connection
disabling any and all firewalls
ipconfig /release
ipoconfig /renew
netsh int ip reset reset.log
netsh winsock reset catalog
lots of computer restarting
and for good measure i pinged 192.168.4.1 and ping 24.229.54.212 not sure why but kinda frustrated so why not
here's the cmd stuff:

The problem is basically that my home wifi runs from a router that renews its IP adress every hour or so, and I keep getting disconnected from the Internet for 15 mins. or so every single time and then again not always; sometimes a page fails to load and then the connection is re-established a moment afterwards - it's very random.
The odd thing is that while my desktop Pc gets disconnected for long peiods of time my PS3, phone and laptop all seem to be able to reconnect during other periods of time where the desktop is unable. Also my parents and sister seem to be disturbed in different intervals. This makes me think that besides the annoying short disconnection on every device, my wifi adapter might cause the desktop additional problems reconnecting.
I'm using a Netgear WG111 v3 adapter. I should probably note that when I was running Windows 7 it already gave me trouble installing drivers and I had to run compatibility mode for Vista, and now with Windows 8 Pro 64-bit I had even more trouble, installer crashing and me having to manually go to the Device Manager and search for the install data for the driver. It's only been causing me problems since I bought it and though it works as I write this there is no way for me to know if it goes offline again or not in the next second.
I've recently reformatted my Pc and that didn't change a thing in this context and I've also been in contact with my Internet provider (the largest of such in Denmark, where I live), and they are the ones that told me that the router needs to reaquire a new IP every now and then for security reasons.

When I connected to the Internet by using WiFi, my laptop will suddenly disconnected. Sometimes it works to fix it with troubleshooter but sometimes I have to restart my laptop again and again. The troubleshooter mentioned it can be driver/network adapter problem but how to stop DC. I sent my laptop to the service center, they said this is not about my network adapter problem and asked me to reformat my laptop and check whether this issue can be solved or not.

I needed to change my password to my wifi so after watching a youtube video I followed these instructions:Go to search program files : cmd Enter: ipconfig Get gateway ip address Go to internet explorer enter ip address Once admin log on comes on log on and I went on to change wireless password Once I did change password after that it would not comment to my wireless wifi Connection. I once again went to cmd then ipconfig where there it then said media disconnected. I mess something up since now nothing can connected to WiFi?

I have 2 laptops, only one of which connects to the Internet. The second, a Dell XPS, no longer connects to the Internet/network. Recently I updated the driver for the wireless adapter, Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230; however I later learned that there is a compatibility issue for 6230 and Windows 8. So, I rolled back the driver for the wireless network adapter, both to an Intel-provided legacy driver and to the Dell-provided driver. However, using either driver, the my computer won't connect. Running ipconfig states the Wireless LAN adapter Wi-Fi: Media State... Media Disconnected.
Dell Tech support regarded this a sensitive issue, which would require purchasing a new, premium software warranty.

I've got an old LinkSys adapter in my tower right now, and I'd really like to upgrade. Unfortunately, the reviews I've seen indicate that a lot of wireless adapters have serious problems with 64-bit Windows 7. My router is also LinkSys.

Had possible malware problems. Wife's email hijacked. Deleted her account. Purchased Emisoft Anti Malware Guard, even though I was already supposedly protected through Comcast with Norton and ran Spybot for a long time. Followed the recommendations of the Emisoft Anti-Malware as it ran. I think I may have shut down some things that were probably safe as I did this. At any rate I can no longer see my Wireless Adaptor, so I can't connect to the wireless network that is running (2 laptops connected to it and it is working fine). I restarted WLAN Auto Config Service. I read in this forum and in some others things to try: Shut off (Unplugged, Modem, Router), PC and restarted each one in that order after waiting a good minute.
Ran some things from CMD prompt to release and restore ipconfig. On one of these as the system listed things I saw that my wireless adaptor showed, but a line about tunnel adaptor showed that the media was disconnected. This acts to me just like what happens on a laptop when the wireless card gets shut off. The malware thing that lead into this really freaked me out. When I run Windows Live Mail I get a box with a heading 'Mail" that pops up "We have noticed some unusual activity in your account. Your action is needed to make sure no one is using your account. To continue click OK." I started down that route a few weeks ago and bailed out when I saw what they were asking. I wonder if the malware hosed some things or if I did in running the anti malware?

have now been trying to get a wireless adapter to work on my computer for a couple of days now. I ordered a refurbished Cisco AE2500 and tried for hours to get it to work to no avail. I can't quite rember everything I tried to get it to work, but I will try. When I try to install from the installation CD it will not detect the adapter. I tried to download the drivers from the internet, but windows did not recognize them. I tried to update the drivers through device manage and windows update and that did not work. I updated all motherboard drivers and BIOS. I tried unplugging the power from the wall. I tried resetting the BIOS. After all of that, I decided that the adapter must not work.Today I went to Staples and bought a NETGEAR G54/N150 USB Micro Adapter. I ran the setup CD, put the adapter in and it detected. It would not connect to the router for some reason, and I thought it may have been because I set it to use the push to connect feature and the router did not have that feature, so, I uninstalled the software and tried to reinstall using just the stand alone windows driver and now my computer won't even detect it. I went through most of the things I went through with the first router again and nothing has worked

Any cheap wireless adapter for windows 7? Like around $20 and usb interface? I have a 2wire router that was setup by at&t (not sure if I can change it cus tv and everything goes through one box), and they threw in a 2wire wireless adapter, but it sucks. It randomly drops signal and doesn't get a very strong signal even though the router is 20 feet away. I had a cheap trendnet adapter for my xp machine but couldn't find drivers for windows 7.Also do you think the reason it drops is the adapter or possible the router? Cus I watch netflix through nintendo wii which is in the same room as the router and that never has any issues and gets great bandwidth. My laptop with an internal card never seems to have much trouble either... pretty sure I should replace the adapter.

I just moved into a new place and I've been having a lot of trouble with the wireless connection. There are 4 other people sharing the wireless and none of them seem to have problems, and my phone connects fine, but my laptop will randomly lose internet access while still detecting the network. When I run the troubleshooter it says it has reset the wireless adapter, and the connection will work again, but sometimes only for a few minutes before it craps out. I don't have access to the wireless router itself, so doing anything with that will require asking the landlady (who doesn't speak English well). I had access fine for the first two days after I moved in. I did install a couple of programs after that: 7-Zip and Flash Player 11.2 (since the newest Flash version crashes my Firefox). I don't know if that could have anything to do with it.
I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on an Asus laptop. After searching around the forum a bit, I followed the instructions in this post and will paste the results here. I don't know if the ping address starting with 206 might be invalid since the post is from several years ago.

Once loaded, no Wireless Network Connection icon appears in Network Connections and is not showing up as a Network Adaptor in Device Manager. The adptor is a Broadcom BCM94318MPG(802.11b/g) device on my. I have an XP CD and the original Gateway Windows XP CD and cannot get Windows to find the driver on the cds. Can't connect to the internet so I can't get anyupdates. Is there a way test the adaptor to see if it's cooked or not? Is there a procedure to get the machine to recognize the adaptor?
