I have a Brother HL-2270DW wireless printer. The install seems to go OK , and the printer gets an IP (DHCP) address from the router. But the installation software cannot find the printer to complete the installation. The printer settings (printed after pressing GO button three times) show that the printer has an address, but it will not respond to a ping.

View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I have a Brother MFC-8660DN connected to my LAN via Ethernet cable, however I now want to move the printer to another room, but don't want to run the ethernet cable to it's new location. There are a ton of linksys wrt54g routers for cheep and I wondered if I could just move the printer and plug into a wrt54g router to connect to my LAN via a wifi signal rather than directly via ethernet cable. It seems like it should work, however because the wrt54g isn't hooked to a computer I'm not sure that this would work.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using a Compaq laptop, and i have Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter attached to it.I used to be able to connect to a Printer Brother MFC-J430W via wireless and print from it.But recently, when I try to print from it, it says that the printer is offline. I tried restarting my laptop, wireless adapter, and the printer, I also try restarting the spooler service but the attempt was not successful. Try unchecking SNMP and the printer is online but I can't print from it. So, I decided to uninstall the printer and reinstall it again. This is where another problem occurs. When I try reinstalling it, my laptop seems to be unable to find the printer (I have entered the IP address of my Printer but the printer still can't be found). Oh, and by the way, other laptop seems to be able to print a document from that printer.

I have been having problems keeping the connection between my laptop(HP) and the printer ever since I switched to this router. The only thing that works is completely reinstalling the driver, and then it is touchy when searching the network for the printer. The port and IP address for my printer match, and when I tried pinging my printer, I do not have any success. My laptop registers the printer as offline, as does the router when I go into the devices on the router(via mylocalrouter). To spot check the issue, I have switched the router back to my old one(Belkin) and the printer works flawlessly. I have always been able to connect the printer to the network without any problems, but my laptop and router dont recognize it.

He was wondering if it is possible to setup the printer so that it could be printed to from over the internet. After I reserved a DHCP IP address for the printer, changed 'admin' and 'user' passwords, and disabled some protocols, I made sure IPP was enabled and that port 631 (TCP) was forwarded on my DD-WRT router.
I added the printer as my external IP address [URL] in Windows, selected the correct driver as provided by Windows Updates, and attempted to send a test page without success.This would be my first time trying to setup a printer for over-the-Internet printing (aka IPP).what I could do to try get this to work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedConnected our Brother MFC-8820D printer/scanner/fax directly to one of the 4 Ethernet ports on the back of the DIR-655 in our new install with this router, and all computers can print to it, whether connected via an Ethernet cable or via wireless, but none of the printers can scan. We just get an error message. Scanner driver is installed on all computers. Same printer worked fine via Ethernet on a Windows small business server for printing and scanning. Windows server no longer used or connected. Only DIR-655 as we are dumbing down and getting rid of our Windows server and have gone to a NAS solution connected to the DIR-655.
What can we do to make the scanning work on our Multifunction printer?
I have a E4200 router and I was using it with a 1st generation MacBook Air for internet and also had my Samsung laser printer hooked up (USB) for wireless printing. It worked perfectly. Now I have upgraded to a new MacBook Air. The internet connection works fine, but printing won't work. Same printer. Same connections.
Do I need to refresh/reboot something? My new Mac has the printer driver. I get a message "printer if offline" "printer is not connected" -I feel like the router now does not recognize the new Mac's command to print.The older macbook air still works and prints wirelessly. The new one does not.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been using this router for several years with a wireless connection to an iPhone, and wired connections to a computer running Windows Vista, a computer running Windows XP (only connected occasionally and never during these tests), a NetTalk telephone ATA, and a Brother printer. I just got a Windows 8 laptop with wireless. I found that the laptop wouldn't connect wired until I cycled power to the router and rebooted the laptop. OK, that's working to get the laptop to the internet. Vista and iPhone are still working. Printer won't work? Use an IP scanner and the printer is just not there although the light on the router is solid for it. Turn off laptop and cycle power and everything else is back to normal. Let's try wireless. Laptop will not connect. Is it something with the printer? Turn off printer, cycle power, and reboot and laptop wireless now works. Turn on printer and printer doesn't work again. Unplug ATA (hey, it's something to try), cycle power, reboot, everything except telephone is working! Plug ATA back in, no telephone. Cycle power. Back to square one with everything working except laptop. Turn off iPhone, reboot laptop, laptop now OK but printer has disappeared again. Turn iPhone back on and it won't connect either. Cycle power with printer off and everything else works again.

However, I need to share a printer amongst all of the computers. The printer is LAN enabled and I would normally just put all the PCs on a hub, together with the printer and share it that way. This is a USB printer that DOES NOT have a network card of any kind.I have heard of a print server, and know that it obviously has to do with hooking a printer to a network, but don't know if it will work in my application. Will this work for me?I just now noticed that there is a USB port on the back of the router/modem. can I hook my printer up to that port (and leave it hooked up) and print across the wireless network? I don't care if my printer has to be wired to something. I would just prefer that my laptop not have to be wired directly to the printer.

Its a big multi functional printer with copy, scan etc. At the momemt we have a loooong network cable running on the floor from the one end to the printer.
Unfortunately we dont have an easy way to install cables above the rooms and that way connect the printer via cable to the other end of the building so I need some sort of wireless solution.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI had a home network with 2 laptops (one XP and one Vista) and 1 desktop (XP) configured through a Lynksys wireless router. There was already a Canon wireless network printer (with the Vista laptop set up as the "host" pc). This Vista laptop had to be on in order to print from any of the other 2 computers on the network. I then added another laptop (this one with Windows 7 64-bit OS) to the same home network (using workgroup), and I can print wirelessly from it in the same way (the older Vista laptop has to be on). The Vista laptop is hardly ever used since adding the new Win 7, and I would like to be able to print without having the Vista laptop on. How would I go about this? Do I have to delete the printer from the Vista laptop and re-install on the Win 7? It seems like there should be a way to let the router be the "print server," but I have no idea how to accomplish this. The WLAN settings on the printer all indicate the proper router settings from the initial setup. The printer is a Canon MX860.

View 2 Replies View Related3 Computers 2 using vista - 1 using XP. Printer is a HP 2727nf. Will work for a couple of jobs then receives an error code and will not print anymore for any computer. Only a hard reset of turning the printer off and clearing out the queue will print the job that was getting stuck. Wondering if anything can be done so error code won't show up and we can get this printer to run smooth again. PS we have another HP printer that works fine on the network.
