D-Link DIR-655 :: Not Allowing Brother Multifunction Printer MFC-8820D To Scan
Mar 11, 2011
Connected our Brother MFC-8820D printer/scanner/fax directly to one of the 4 Ethernet ports on the back of the DIR-655 in our new install with this router, and all computers can print to it, whether connected via an Ethernet cable or via wireless, but none of the printers can scan. We just get an error message. Scanner driver is installed on all computers. Same printer worked fine via Ethernet on a Windows small business server for printing and scanning. Windows server no longer used or connected. Only DIR-655 as we are dumbing down and getting rid of our Windows server and have gone to a NAS solution connected to the DIR-655.
What can we do to make the scanning work on our Multifunction printer?
I have a Dell 2155CDN Multifunction printer that is hooked up through our network. But when using the scan feature, it is terribly slow, and I assume it has something to do with it scanning through the network port. Is it possible to leave the printer hooked up across the network, but also attach it to a computer via USB just for the scanner? Or would doing this confuse the printer not knowing which port to use for each feature?
I want to do wireless printing and wonder whether, in stead of buying a new printer, I can do something to convert my Brother DCP 7020 for wireless use.
I've got a Brother 5490CN network printer. For the past year, it has been sitting next to my router and plugged directly in. Due to changes in how my service enters my home, the router needed to move to another location - a location that is inappropriate for the printer.
My father works at a mall in a shop and had bought a Brother 2270DW printer (wireless and wired networking) to find that it was a bit bigger than he had anticipated it to be and does not fit on his kiosk desk, and so gave the printer to me yesterday. He was wondering if it is possible to setup the printer so that it could be printed to from over the internet. After I reserved a DHCP IP address for the printer, changed 'admin' and 'user' passwords, and disabled some protocols, I made sure IPP was enabled and that port 631 (TCP) was forwarded on my DD-WRT router.
I added the printer as my external IP address [URL] in Windows, selected the correct driver as provided by Windows Updates, and attempted to send a test page without success. This would be my first time trying to setup a printer for over-the-Internet printing (aka IPP).what I could do to try get this to work?
I am using a Compaq laptop, and i have Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter attached to it.I used to be able to connect to a Printer Brother MFC-J430W via wireless and print from it.But recently, when I try to print from it, it says that the printer is offline. I tried restarting my laptop, wireless adapter, and the printer, I also try restarting the spooler service but the attempt was not successful. Try unchecking SNMP and the printer is online but I can't print from it. So, I decided to uninstall the printer and reinstall it again. This is where another problem occurs. When I try reinstalling it, my laptop seems to be unable to find the printer (I have entered the IP address of my Printer but the printer still can't be found). Oh, and by the way, other laptop seems to be able to print a document from that printer.
So I have a Brother MFC-8660DN connected to my LAN via Ethernet cable, however I now want to move the printer to another room, but don't want to run the ethernet cable to it's new location. There are a ton of linksys wrt54g routers for cheep and I wondered if I could just move the printer and plug into a wrt54g router to connect to my LAN via a wifi signal rather than directly via ethernet cable. It seems like it should work, however because the wrt54g isn't hooked to a computer I'm not sure that this would work.
I have had the E4200 for a while with a Brother MFC-J615W printer. I have been having problems keeping the connection between my laptop(HP) and the printer ever since I switched to this router. The only thing that works is completely reinstalling the driver, and then it is touchy when searching the network for the printer. The port and IP address for my printer match, and when I tried pinging my printer, I do not have any success. My laptop registers the printer as offline, as does the router when I go into the devices on the router(via mylocalrouter). To spot check the issue, I have switched the router back to my old one(Belkin) and the printer works flawlessly. I have always been able to connect the printer to the network without any problems, but my laptop and router dont recognize it.
I have a dell 2155CDN network printer I want to scan files over the network when I scan once it finishes I get a SMB List error and the file does not go trough here is a picture of my settings?
I have an Canon MP 530 that works great for my home office network, but right now it's being shared off one of my PCs. I would like to network it like my HP LaserJet P2055dn, but not just printing, also fax and scan (via Adobe Acrobat Pro). Does this product really exist.
About two years ago I bought a Linksys device that turned out to be a $100 mistake, but now I'm really needing this sharing functionality.
I have a Brother HL-2270DW wireless printer. The install seems to go OK , and the printer gets an IP (DHCP) address from the router. But the installation software cannot find the printer to complete the installation. The printer settings (printed after pressing GO button three times) show that the printer has an address, but it will not respond to a ping.
Just finished the setup for Canon MP780 USB printer to work with EA4500. Printer goes online only while it prints the pages. When I try to scan the document with MP Navigator it cannot communicate with the scanner as printer is essentially offline. How to setup the printer in order to perform the scan of the documents?
I go through the printer installation for my Brother 665CW. During the install, the printer shows up. In my router's client table, I see the printer. When I print a network setup page, the IPs and MACs match what's on the router. Everything should work. The status icon for the printer on both my computers (one wired to the the router, one wireless) is grey. (green=connected, ready to print; red=error;grey=not connected) If I send something to the printer, of course nothing prints. It times out on my computer. The weird part is that sometimes, after several hours, even days, my docs will suddenly print. What the heck? I read on some forums that the WLAN partition can get in the way but it's not turned on so that can't be the problem. Except for security, most everything is on the default setting. I'm not using WPS. The security I'm using is compatible with the printer (like I said, it connected to the router and the router sees the printer. It's like the computers are ignoring the printer. Both computers are running Windows 7. I've tried both the win7 and vista drivers, thinking it was a driver problem. Two months ago, when I switched from my ATT modem/router everything was working perfectly. I tried to emulate as many setting from that as I could. What magic check box am I forgetting to click?
I am looking to create an office network with each person having internet access but on a private network. however everyone will need to be able to access a communal printer. would they be able to see it if they were all on a different subnet or would i need to set up vlans?
I'm on my 3rd Virgin media 615 today, the last one arrived yesterday and I opened the box to fine a rev d with old bios installed, throw hands in air and all that and then proceeded to upgrade to 4.13 which I have found to be stable and work ok, the other two grow to have the wireless failure issue, I could moan here about VM but hey there's no point so I have come here for adviseafter I found the last one wireless going down, daily trips from the kids down to me to ask why the internet isn't working etc etc I started to investigate, I found the 4.13 and gened up a bit, looked at the 3rd party code and came back to Dlinks own code, anyway I have seen in the last few days hundreds of similar port scans. [code]
Now is the the router being a little sensitive to harmless software companys scans to see if products installed etc or are they something to worry about now I know whats going on if its the latter, and I don't think anyones got in yet but I would like to ban these ip's and to be honest I'm not sure of the best way also I noted a UDP active session that not a part of my subnet too mine being a standard 192.168.0.*and the other being 192.168.4.*.
I have a dir-655 Firmware Version 2.00, hardware:B1 It's a new wireless router and it's just a week ago I got it.My problem is that the wireless is just stopping to work, it just disappear. When I do a rescan of wireless AP's the ssid and my AP is not showing up.I have to reboot the router the hard way by unplugging the power source.I have multiple computers and wireless devices, and they all loose connection and no one even see the ssid (AP) defined on my dir-655.It's connected to a cable modem switch (without nat), I'm running dhcmp on my router. No Qos engine is enabled. This happens when I'm working from home with a VPN tunnel from my pc to my companies network.I've tried to make a ticket on this on dlink support pages, but their support system only works on IE7, and the password is anyway rejected. how to solve the termination of my wifi ap?
I'm looking for a router that can be a router, repeater, or an access point and has gigabit ports. I've found the Asus RT-N15U, but they only seem to be outside the US?
Recently had an external security scan done on my DIR 655 and scan results are stating I have an accessible TFTP Server running. i've been through all the settings, and even upgraded to the latest firmware. Yet security scans are telling me I've got a TFTP Server running. Why would one be showing on the external interface, and how can I stop it?
I have a DI-604 Version E3 D Link router and I'm trying to allow VPN through the router but I'm not exactly sure how. I have the VPN set up through my PC's but I need to configure the router aswell. Trying to set up the VPN so multiple locations can access it,
I just bought the 655, mainly for school/Xbox. My parents use it also, but I bought it for myself mainly (shh). I set it up correctly and got connected, but suddenly I wasn't allowed Internet access. The router connects to my laptop, but won't get Internet access. I called customer service and he didn't know what to do. We tried everything he knew and nothing worked. I don't want to return the router cause I read it was very good, but I need internet for school. I have Rev. A and F/W 2.00.
I am trying to download firmware for an RV180W Wireless-N Multifunction VPN Firewall Router. I found updates for a 110 in BIN format (router only updates from IMG). Currently running stock firmware on that router and need the update.
My internet speeds are 45 Mbps DL and 1 Mbps UL and my various wireless connections (3 laptops in my household) were achieving speeds anywhere from 25-40 Mbps DL. My router started acting up and wasn't letting anyone connect via wifi so I did a factory reset and set it up the same way I did before (as best as I could), it started working fine again but now the speeds on all the devices that are connecting to at are capped at 18 Mbps. A simple speed test shows that no matter what they won't pass 18 Mbps, I am almost 100% certain this is the router and I was wondering what I might have done wrong or what is causing this.
I used WPS on my DIR-655 Rev B1 FW 2.03NA to register a Brother HL-2270DW Wifi laser printer and my Mac can never wake it up to print. It always works fine from all my Windows machines. It appears as xxx.xxx.xxx.6 on my network. But the router only shows its IP as 0.0.0.0 on the STATUSWireless page and I can't find any way to change that. My assumption is that the Mac can't find it because of this, but I'm not an expert on WPS.Maybe I should take it out of WPS and just assign it a fixed IP using DHCP Reservation. Or is there another fix? I haven't ruled out the Brother OS X printer driver, but it and the printer's firmware are both up to date. Two odd things:
1. I can ping the printer from my PCs but the Mac can't find see in and it's not a Firewall issue.
2. I can see the brother printer in Finder's Shared devices: so it sees it but refuses to interact.
I have a brother mfc-665cw connected wired to my netgear router.
I assigned a static ip address to the printer From a desktop (windows 7 ultimate) I can ping the printer and I can print as well ,,,means desktop can talk to the printer.
But whenever I typed in the right ip address for the printer in 3 different browsers (error message: page could not be displayed!!!!)
I disabled the firewall and Antivirus (Micro Trend) same problem persisted .

Two week ago I bought the TD-W8970 ADSL router model. Im using a canon pixma IP4700 printer connected to the router USB print server port and everything is working without any issues if I just look to the router functionalities.
However since that Ive installed TP-LINK USB Printer Controller, my both computers (desktop with windows 7 and laptop with windows 8) are getting very often some BSOD.
I was editing all files automatically generated by windows on this cases and if seems that the cause of this issue is the file TplinkUDSMBus.sys (installed by USB Printer Controller).
To check the impact of this, Ive uninstalled the TP-LINK USB Printer Controller software from my laptop and I dont have any BSOD since 5 days ago. In the desktop Im still have the same issue.
The router print server is a nice functionality and I really want to use it.
I have a Brother MFC9120CN that I would like to connect to my wireless network. The printer does not support wireless networking but does support networking with Ethernet cables.I want to connect it wirelessly using a wireless adapter on the USB port.I'm not sure how to set up the networking on the printer to do this. schmuck281 has chosen the best answer to his/her question.Click here to view the answer that was selected.
I have tried two wireless printers, a Kodak ESP 7 and and Hp 3050. Set them for WPA with the correct security code. The same as my PC and iPad - both of them work fine. The Kodak finds my network but connot connect. The HP returns a "Cannot find printer message". In every other regard my DIR 825 works fine!
