View 1 RepliesWe have printers connected to the network, but I need a standalone printer connected to my workstation due to the confidential nature of some of my printing.I chose a small wireless printer as I already am being strangled with wires and cables.I went thru the wireless installation, and was told to connect PC to printer via USB.I finally got a connection, but not the one I wanted. We also have a wireless router, but connecting to itI got message saying "a connection was made but your PC is not connected to your printer".

We recently opted to go with new web based software that neccesitates a high speed internet connection, and 12 wireless devices across the building. We signed a contract with Comcast Business Class internet, so that in the event of an external failure with one ISP, we would have the other offer redundancy with the new wireless router. It has now become clear that our nurses that are on the Comcast wireless network, now need to print from their wireless devices regularly. At the time this is obviously not possible, because the network printers are only on our backoffice network. Buying a wireless inkjet printer is out of the question. How can I make this happen? All of the printers have a local static IP on our backoffice network (Verizon). I have heard of software that will essentially send the print job to another computer, which would relay the print job to the designated printer.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have had this printer for a while now and I was using it with a Aciontec DSL wifi modem. It connected just fine without any problems via the installation software and a usb cable to initalize. I just swtiched from DSL to a Cable setup. I am using a Motorola "surfboard" SBG901 with built in wifi. It came pre installed with a WPA PSK string. Every time I have tried to connect it would not accept the WPA PSK string and being a legit 8 -63 charcters. I messed around witht he Cable modem settings and eventually decided to turn off all proection for a second to see if I could connect. Sure enough I was able to connect. In my Cable modem settings I have WPA/WPA PSK/WPA 2/WPA2 PSK . When you select either WPA or WPA2 it greys out the WPA PSK and WPA2 PSK selections and vice versa. I am using WPA PSK currently. I tried to switch to WPA but the passcode section was greyed out and had some "radius key section". I am not too familar with network settings just the basics. I used the Dell Wireless connection utility and tried setting up a manual connection by putting in the ssid and what type of protection but it still would not accept the passcode as being a WPA.

He wants to take advantage of the network printing capabilities but we want to avoid having to run an ethernet cable from the printer to the wireless router. The entire network is wireless because running cables would be a huge pain in the building he is in. What could we use to connect the printer to the network without running cables?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recenly installed a RV082 with two ADSL modems connected to Broadband lines. Access to our networks is done via VPN accounts configured on Windows Vista laptops. The VPN network works fine and everyone has access to their network data and the Intranet/Internet.
I'm having problems with connecting a network printer to access over the VPN. We have managed to get a IBM1532 network printer working using the following network details by allowing the IP address of the printer through our VPN network/firewall.
We had to connect a Xerox C2424 workstation printer on site, so we configured the device using the same network details as the IBM printer, connected it to one of the available ports on one of the Broadband modems but we could not get the printer to be seen or connected to using this setup.
However I connect my own Home Laptop PC configured with the IP port settings above directly to the same modem as the Xerox printer this works but only after we changed the IP gateway address on the printer to match the modem.
If I switch on DHCP on the printer it finds the IP gateway address of the RV082 but will not allow us to send anything to it.As the ADSL lines are on a Dynamic IP rather than Static.
Have three computers ( 2 are XP one is vista) connected via wireless router one computer is considered a host computer sitting on a docking station which has the printers connected to it. In the beginning once everything was connected we could print from any computer wireless, then one day we had a power outage and for some reason we can only print from the host computer. How to get the other computers back online to print. All computers are still able to connect to the internet via wireless router (Linksys E1000) but not able to print except the host which is directly connected to the printers.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI managed to connect my USB printer (and tested ok) through the E3200 router using the Cisco Connect programme on Windows 7. I note that there was an option for a USB Printer connection in the set-up screen.
When I tried it on the Mac using Mac OSX 10.7.3 and Cisco Connect Ver 1.4, I noted that there was no option for a USB Printer connection.
I think I have worked out that you can`t currently connect a usb printer to the usb port on the e4200 in order to share it over the network.
However I have heard reports that this might facility might be enabled in the spring.
I have also heard something about `virtual usb` but I don`t know whether this has anything to do with it.
Just purchased an E900 wireless router and cannot figure out how to connect my Samsung wireless printer. The printer has a WPS button, but the router does not. The router wants me to input information into the Samsung printer, but the printer has no screen, and I cannot find a place to input the router info anywhere in the Samsung software. I am going crazy here...I'm not a techie, but I'm also not a complete technology idiot.

HP support says I need to change a setting to mixed mode but I don't see that I can. Does this router supports mixed mode and if so how do I change it?The other comment the HP rep made was the printer does not support Wireless N. I am fine with this since the router says Wireless B. It seems based on the HP rep's comment that as long as I am not using Wireless N, then I should be fine.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the wireless printer, modem and laptop to tall to one another. Am I missing something or should it all work? The laptop has internet access. View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just bought a v313w printer & cannot get it to connect wireless to my inspirion 1545 laptop (windows 7)During the wireless set-up, it gets to the third of the five stages ok. These are configuring printer, resetting printer & connecting to wireless network. It fails on Acquiring network address & communicating with the printer!
I have tried the following without any luck, uninstalling & re-installing, powering down cable modem/router, changing security settings on router from 64bit wep to 128 wep & WPA/PSK, dell expert taking control of my laptop & trying to connect (which resulted in Dell sending me a new printer because the expert seemed to think it maybe a faulty wireless card in the printer, this is not the case becuase the same problem occurs with the second printer dell have sent me!). I have downloaded & installed the latest drivers for this printer from the dell website & I've switched off my security (anti virus/firewall) when trying to install.
I am completely stuck as to what to try next, the printer works perfectly fine from the USB cable.
I have 4 computers (3 laptops, 1 desktop) in a shared office. We get internet access using their wireless network. All works fine. However, I need to share a printer amongst all of the computers. The printer is LAN enabled and I would normally just put all the PCs on a hub, together with the printer and share it that way. BUT my question is can we access the internet using the wireless network and the printer using a separate wired network at the same time?

The security key configured on your printer does not match exactly. Reconfigure your wireless network WEP security key for your printer. Your printer has limited connectivity. Your printer is using IP address 169.254.xx.xxx which is not compatible with the IP address 192.16x.x.x of the pc.I had to changed the WEP security key I used on the old router as the orginal security key had been used by someone without permission. Before this I had no problems using the printer on my old routerI have tried turning everything off and unplugging it but that does not work, I tried resetting the wireless settings on the printer, yet that did not work. I am using Windows Vista service pack 2 on a Compaq Presario laptop, the wireless router is a Netgear N600, and the printer is an HP Photosmart C4740.

I also have an HP Officejet 5800 printer that I would like to add to the network. This is a USB printer that DOES NOT have a network card of any kind.I have heard of a print server, and know that it obviously has to do with hooking a printer to a network, but don't know if it will work in my application. Will this work for me?I just now noticed that there is a USB port on the back of the router/modem. can I hook my printer up to that port (and leave it hooked up) and print across the wireless network? I don't care if my printer has to be wired to something. I would just prefer that my laptop not have to be wired directly to the printer.

Is this so? If so, would the slowdown occur only while using the wireless printer?
