View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have an ASA 5505. 5505 comes with two default vlans 1&2 with each of them marked as inside & outside respectively. My query is , if i do not want to use vlans on 5505 and only want to use the Ethernet ports as pure physical layer 3 ports, is it possible?i.e. i want to assign a layer 3 ip address on eth0/0 and eth0/1 and make them as the inside & outside interfaces rather than vlans. is it possible to do away with vlans in 5505 & will it work otherwise?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to associate spare firewall ports with another port that is being used..For example...int gi 0/2 is being used currently for my web dmz. Its ip is 192.168.10.1..Is there a way for me to associate gi 0/3 with the same layer 2 as gi 0/2 ?
In my webdmz I use 2 ACE 4710 proxys in FT mode. I used a layer 2 switch to connect firewall and proxys together.
I would like to eliminate this switch if possible..and connect both 4710's (layer 2) direct to firewall. If I could make gi0/2 - 4 part of the same vlan, then I would be good to go.
How many of the 881 switch interface ports can be used as router ports, have used the 877 etc where i can use 2 but need a low cost router that supports 3 for routing. (needs to be physical ports)

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have my 2Wire AT&T U-Verse router properly set up to forward the port 25565 from my machine. (Incidentally, PortForward.com gives me a blank page when I try to look up how to do this.) However, when I test the port is indeed open ( Open Port Check Tool - Test Port Forwarding on Your Router ), it returns as closed. Yes, I'm running the server software while I run the test. I only have the Windows Firewall, but I ran attempts while the firewall was completely disabled as well as with just the appropriate programs allowed.

Right now we have a wireless router connected by Ethernet to a standard Ethernet router and we are experiencing problems with our network printers. While i'm not sure if it will solve our printing problems i am looking to consolidate both my wireless router and my standard Ethernet router into one single router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been really stumped when I decided to start using xbox live. When ever I try to join my friends party I am slammed with a NAT error. For years now I have not been able to forward ports at all. Any port checkers come back with unable to contact your router.I am fairly certain its the router because, I directly plugged my 360 into my modem and everything worked like a charm.I've read on a similar post found here "Similar post" that updating the firmware might fix the issue?

This is my first experience using a Cisco Linksys router. Up to now I've always used DLink. But when my newest Dlink router failed for the 3rd time I decided it was time to find a better make. The Linksys E2500 came highly recommended. The trouble I am having is that I've been using an old DLink DI-604 wired router as a hub to get 3 extra wired ports. But with the linksys router I can't get this to work.. Can this be done with this router and if so, how do I have to setup the routers?

View 1 Replies View Related I recently joined an ISP support desk and increasingly often come across LAN configuration with a separate "modem" (DSL cable mobem or Fibre/Satellite/Fixed Wireless box - will call all these toys "modems" from now on). I have a bit of an issue understanding the difference between Internet and LAN ports of Lynksis routers (there are other brands too but as the most advanced on the market, Linksys has been given me the hardest time so far).
Let's take WRT-120N as it is one of the most popular Linksys models out there. Basically, I am coming to a conclusion that the 4 LAN ports act like switch ports and cannot have different IP addresses (so as a single WRT-120 device could be a gateway for up to 4 different networks) and Internet port is the one that is getting an address different from LAN port address (gets it from "modem"). If my understanding is right, "modem" must be hooked up only to WAN port to work and if we connect it to one of the 4 LAN ports we cannot access Internet. But is my understanding right or wrong??Also, can these routers have one default gateway address for Ethernet connection and a different one for WiFi?Are there any other differences between Internet and LAN ports? If you get to decide what port to connect the "modem" to does it matter what is the "modem's" physical implementation? (DSL modem, Sat box, etc)I possess X3000 home gateway myself and have a similar question about it's Cable and LAN ports which I will post in "Cable and DSL" forum.
I got an Wireless WRT54G now for a couple of years and i'm hosting a game server like minecraft for my self.Today i'd discovered something really weird. If i'm going to my Routor setting at : http://192.168.1.1 i'ts not working , if i restart my routor it works for 1 minute. Now if i start my server he is reading the port [ He said ] but... no-one can join..
