The problem is that it almost dont work at all with cable, even if i turn off the wireless network, the speed is about 2-3 mbit in and about 6-7 mbit outAll other computers, tv. printer wireless work very fine.

Oct 8, 2011Firmware 1.0.00 on my E4200 Hardware v1.0 provided a functioning 6to4 tunnel through Comcast's 6to4 facility. Windows and Linux clients on my local network discovered IPv6 addresses and were able to use them successfully.Unfortunately, after the upgrade to 1.0.03 this functionality was gone. I missed reading the ChangeLog, which said that the automatic tunneling feature was removed in 1.0.01. The now provided IPv6 functionality works much less well. First, automatic configuration (discovery of the 6to4 via IPv4 anycast) no longer works with Comcast's gateway. If I configure the tunnel manually, by specifying a 2002/16 prefix, I regain IPv6 connectivity, but only for Linux clients on my local network.
Windows 7 clients suffer from the problem that because the E4200 hands out ULA addresses, they end up preferring those ULA addresses when making global IPv6 connections in the IP 'source' field, which of course does not work. It's like putting your company mailbox code as the return address on a letter you send via US Mail. Other home routers, such as the AVM Fritz! (url,...) suffer from the same problem. However, they provide an option to turn off ULA at the router.Is it possible to turn off ULA for the E4200?

Feb 17, 2011I just upgraded to an E4200 from a D-Link DIR-655. I cannot seem to get my desktop to connect to the E4200 at 1 GBS. My adapter is set to "auto negotiate" but will only connect at 100 MBS. If I try forcing the adapter setting to 1 GBS, it never connects. I can swap out my E4200 with the DIR-655 and it will connect at 1 GBS just fine. I am using a CAT 5E cable. Is there something I'm missing here or is the E4200 just more finicky than the the DIR-655?

PC has Gigabit ethernet card. cables are cat 6. Even when I force the NAS and pc network card speeds to 1.0 GBps full duplex, I only transfer files at < 10 Mbps.

Oct 27, 2011I've lost connectivity with all but one of the ethernet ports on my E4200 router. My desktop PC was connected to Port 1 but stopped working. Network troubleshooting via my Windows 7 Dell 8300 said I was not connected and to check the cable. I did that with several different cables and tried the usual router and modem reset. Only through trial and error did I find that I could connect to port 4 which is why I am able to write this post. What could have changed to disable ports 1-3 and can I get them working again? No issues with wireless connectivity.

Apr 24, 2013I posted my complaint on Amazon.com recently. My E4200 router stopped allowing traffic through ports completely. I was able to unplug the power and allow the router to cool, and the router would work for a while then stop after about 10 minutes. I assume that the unit was overheating, but I do not have the equipment of a test facility.I bought a Belkin AC 1200 router which is a bit of an upgrade from Amazon.com. I do not think that there is anything that Linksys can do for me as my warranty expired. I just thought that when I spent what was to me a lot of money the router should have lasted longer.

From the routers point of view it still has a good solid internet connection. Passes traceroute, but wont allow any wired or wireless connections on the internet. I'm trying to get a Linksys WRE54G v1 to work with this so my parents can have internet once more. If i manualy remove the security to allow the one touch Auto configuration button to work i loose my ability to surf until i run the Cisco Connection software to turn back on the passwords.

I have an existing wireless G network with ActionTec router for VERIZON FIOS. I just added the E4200 router for wireless N. I have latest firmware, 1.0.03. Version 1 hardware.
We are getting a couple of laptops for holidays and would like these to be able use wireless N. I have older laptop/itouch/roku device that use wireless G/B network from ActionTec router. I would like to keep the ActionTec router for wireless G/B, so that both 2.4 and 5.0 ghz networks are Wireless N only.
I have both routers configured so that ActionTec is primary with DHCP and the e4200 is secondary, setup in bridge mode, with DHCP off and static ip of 192.168.1.2. Used this for guidance -> [URL]
I have one SID for ActionTec Wireless G network and this is set for Channel 1
I have a different SID for e4200 Wireless N network, same for 2.4 and 5.0 and I left defaults on other wireless settings.

Feb 21, 2013I have the wireless guest network up and running just fine. But, I need to also connect to the router's quest network via one of the ethernet ports. Can I just give the LAN-conencted PC a 192.168.3.x static IP to access the guest network? I am assuming there is no VLAN functionality...
And even better, can I set up a DHCP relationship to that port? So that any device plugged into the port will get a IP on that subnet?

Aug 21, 2011I have e4200 router set up with different SSIDs for 2.4ghz and 5ghz. My laptop (Lenovo x220 with Intel 6205 wireless adapter) can't see the 5ghz network. I've tried changing the channel for the 5ghz network and it didn't fix the problem.

Jun 24, 2011I cannot get the Guest Network feature to work.Even though Guest SSID is enabled, it does not show up on any devices attempting to connect. Manually connecting by entering the Guest SSID fails (not recognized). On devices with the primary 5 and 2.4 GHz configured they do see the third network but without SSID (unknown) and are also unable to connect to it manually using the SSID.I did not try this before 1.0.02. Have rebooted modem and verified all configs (multiple times). The network is live in an office and can't keep screwing with it or drastically changing its settings.

Jan 12, 2013my general internet connectivity with my e4200.I have a new but similar problem today with the same router.After powering down equipment and moving it around, my wired connections all error. Error in that they will not get an IP address nor will they connect to the internet or each other.My wireless connections still work flawlessly.
I tried powering down the devices over night (to avoid any heating issues) and then powering up but the results are the same. I am obviously missing something, and don't really want to start my network from scratch again...

Jan 7, 2012I'm trying to block two URL's over the entire network via my E4200. I'm having a heck of a time doing this, I loginto my router via the browser (the web setup) (because I think Cisco Connect on the Mac is about the worst software ever written.) And I go to the Access Restrictions page. There I understand I'll have to use the Internet Access Policy pane to make some more advanced settings than the Parental Control.
I enter a name for my rule, so far so good. Enable it. Go to the applied PC page. Open the page to enter MAC adresses and IP's. I go to the IP Address Range field and entere in the box numbered 01; 192.168.2.2 to 192.168.2.51 which in my case is the enitre network. Save the setttings and close that window.
I don't set Access Restriction to deny becasue that seems to block the entire network.
So I go the the Website Blocking by URL Address option and enter the URL I want to block.
I don't do anything wiht the the Blocked Applications since I don't want to block a specific service or application. So I click Save Settings.
And yet when I go to the URL I want to block it doesn't work! [URL]

Jun 5, 2012I've been playing around with my E4200 but cannot find the right combination of settings. My problem: I bought the router for cable internet that never happened. In the meantime I am accessing the web using a 3G dongle. Hoewever, while connected to the router (wired or wireless), all the PC's in my home refuses to access the 3G internet - it is as if it wants to use the E4200 to access the net, no matter what. So every time I want to access the internet, I have to disconnect the PC from the home network, and connect with the 3G on that particulat PC. (I have three PC's at home, 1 wired and two wireless). If I set the E4200 to bridge mode, I struggle to find a logical IP address, since I would ideally like to run the network at 192.168.1.X. How do I set the E4200 to allow a home network to be established without having to disconnect everytime I use the 3G on a PC? Also, it seems that if the router doesn't handle the DHCP duties, win7 by default makes the network public, which complicates sharing a lot...

Mar 10, 2012I have been using the e4200 for about a week. So far, so good! However, a primary reason I purch it was the ability to share via USB across my network (Files and such). Read the approved USB drives that r compatible and although my specfic drive was not listed (WD, my Passport) I connected it to the e4200 and set a folder called "movies"to share. In this folder I have both bluray rips (25-32GB) and standard rips (5gb or less). Regardless of source, the content was not playable. It buffered like crazy. So, is it as simple as using an approved USB drive and I will be able to share appropriately?
The same folder plays great when connected directly to one of my media streamers USB drive, so don't think the drive/source is bad.

Also is there a way to see rx/tx bytes statistics for all wired and wireless users (including ones that are no longer connected)? I've had the router for 3 months now and it works great but I find there isn't enough operational user info/stats on this router.

Sep 1, 2011I purchased a e4200 in hopes that its dual band capability would allow us to run a 2.4ghz network for certain devices and a 5ghz for everyone else. I am able to setup the router and connect but it seems when the 2.4ghz network drops the router drops all connections.
At first I had the networks setup with the same ssid, then changed the 5ghz network to a new ssid but was still losing connection when the 2.4ghz network dropped. This may be a simple routing issue i am overlooking (bit of a network newbie).

Nov 4, 2011I have an E4200 with a 500GB WD hard drive attached to the USB port. I also have 3 computers on the network named "THINK", "PC", and "DELL". THINK is mixed Wired and Wireless - depending on what I'm doing - Win7 Professional, DELL is plugged into a Range Extender. (RE1000) - WinXP (This one isn't as important: It's an older machine) PC is always hardwired. - Win7 Ultimate, Recently, THINK has unable to see DELL, OR even the HD connected to the router, but it can see PC. It can also see the HD as a media device - just not as a computer or device I can browse as it does on PC.However, PC can see everything: THINK, DELL, AND the HD and can access them all the way I would like it to be. Also - MY PS3 DOES see the Media Share and can access it. Edit: Also just discovered both internal and external FTP no long works. Why can't THINK see the HD connected to the router regardless if I'm wired or wireless? As far as I can tell, all the settings are identical on both THINK and PC. Is there a router setting I'm missing? IPV6 is disabled and I've treid the basic disabling of HOMEGROUP and anything that goes with it - but nothing yet.
