View 2 RepliesI have just bought a TP-Link Wireless Access Point (TL-WA&01ND) and an ethernet switcher (TL-SF2005D).I have put the access point into client mode, allowing me to put it in my room and wirelessly connect to my router, allowing me to plug my PC in over ethernet and use the internet. However, after much fiddling with settings I cannot get it to work, as it continually searches for a network, and then fails to connect, despite the fact it is configured to use the network?I already have a similar setup with a netgear wireless G access point which works, and so I dont understand why the new box cannot do this when using what I believe to be the same settings.
Secondly I have an ethernet switch box which I bought to connect to the access point and switch the ethernet signal between my two PCs, my xbox and PC. This works fine with my primary PC (over my old access point) but when I try to connect my PC i get a DNS failure with auto IP settings and a gateway failure with manual settings, and other devices refuse to connect.
I have a DCP 3925 with 2 telephone and 4 internet ports. So, how can I combine DPC 3925 + E3000 to have more internet ports? and wich one is the best wifi than I can use ??Main router is the DPC 3925, where the internet is connected.

The issue is, any ports that are NAT'd from the external appear filtered on the point-to-point vpn endpoints, but work fine over the dmvpn. Everything else seems to work correctly over the vpn. Is it possible to run 802.1Q on a point to point Ethernet circuit between 2 Cisco ISR routers? I need to carry multiple VLANs across an ethernet WAN circuit but not sure if a Cisco router would let me do this. I can surely lab up but was looking for expert opinion on what's best aproach to carry multiple VLAN across the WAN ethernet. Plugging the circuit to a LAN switch is not an option since this is a managed WAN router.

How do I connect and configure my WAP54G wireless access point to my new Cable Modem? I have it connected to the modem but I cannot access it to configure it. It appears to be working but before I got the cable modem I had it connected to a router and it was set-up with a static IP address. With my new ISP, I no longer have a static IP address so I am trying to configure the WAP54G to use DHCP. Trying to access it thru the internet at 192.168.1.245 does not work.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just bought an LG Bluray DVD player (BD390) which is unable to find the access point in my home network. My router is a WRT54G, ver. 2.2, running firmware: Ver.4.21.1. My home network uses high speed cable with two computers on the wireless network, all working with no problems. The router is on the second floor but the two computers and the new BD390 are on the first floor - about 35 feet away. I have the wirelss security set to none and use only the specific computer MAC addresses to allow connection to this network.
I found directions in the forum for a setup using the LG BD390 but with a different Linksys router. I changed the security to WPA (AES); the Beacon interval from 100 to 75; the Fragmentation Threshold from 2346 to 2304; and the RTS Threshold from 2347 to 2307. The DVD wireless connection still failed to find my network. There is a "Push button" connection feature on the BD390 setup which I tried, but the only "button" on the router I could find was in the basic wireless setting, a green icon for the wireless SSID setup. No connection was made there either.
The recommendation connection from the LG manual is for a network cable, but that would be over 50 feet and a real pain to connect, so I would prefer WiFi.

I have my router updated with the latest firmware and I'm pretty sure all the settings are correct but I'm only getting a max transfer rate of 144Mbps. I know this because I use InSSIDer 3 to analyse my wifi network etc. I stream movies over my network and while DVD quality movies play fine, HD movies tend to freeze and buffer a lot. I have the router's channel width set to 40Mhz, so I know that's not the problem. Strangely, I also use a Netgear wifi extender with the MR3420 and it's max rate is 300Mbps.
I've lost connectivity with all but one of the ethernet ports on my E4200 router. My desktop PC was connected to Port 1 but stopped working. Network troubleshooting via my Windows 7 Dell 8300 said I was not connected and to check the cable. I did that with several different cables and tried the usual router and modem reset. Only through trial and error did I find that I could connect to port 4 which is why I am able to write this post. What could have changed to disable ports 1-3 and can I get them working again? No issues with wireless connectivity.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've got a AP WAP54G. I've managed to get into the configuration page and rename my router and set a WPA2-Personl password.
The issue I'm facing is that when me and my roomate try to connect to the router at the same time, it shows the laptop that connects second as one that has 'limited connectivity' and hence cannot use the internet. The 1st laptop however works fine!
The settings for the router have all been left to default.
I'm not sure, but does this problem have anything to do with the fact that the router in configured with a static IP. If so, then there is another issure which is that whenever I try to change it from static to automatic/dynamic IP, the page fails and the router doesn't even get connected to the configuraion page(192.168.1.245) after that. The only way to get that page again is the reset the router.
Also I'm not able to directly get into the config page when I connect my router to my laptop via lan. I need to change the LAN IP to 192.168.1.x where x is >1.
I have 2 data centers miles apart. They are on a Paetec MPLS. I have a Lightower point to point Ethernet link between the two data centers as well. At data center A, I have a Paetec managed router (192.168.2.1). The subnets behind that router are 192.168.2.0, 192.168.100.0 and 192.168.101.0. I also have a Cisco 1841 that is configured with fa0 addressed as 192.168.2.250 and fa1 as 10.5.5.1. Fa1 is the one end of the point to point Ethernet link to data center B.At data center B, I have a Paetec managed router (10.0.2.1). The subnets behind that router are 10.0.2.0, 10.0.100.0 and 10.0.101.0. I also have a Cisco 1841 that is configured with fa0 addressed as 10.0.2.250 and fa1 as 10.5.5.2.What I want to happen is any traffic headed from data center A destined for 10.0.100.0 or 10.0.101.0 to be routed through the point to point Ethernet link. I had Paetec add routes in their managed router to route any traffic headed for 10.0.100.0 and 10.0.101.0 to my Cisco 1841 (192.168.2.250).I wanted to do the same for traffic destined for 192.168.100.0 and 192.168.101.0 from data center B. Paetec added the appropriate routes to the router at data center B.Now, if I trace from data center A to 10.0.100.45, I see this:
1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.2.1
2 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 192.168.2.250
3 4 ms 4 ms 4 ms 10.5.5.2
4 3 ms 3 ms 3 ms 10.0.2.1
So the routing seems to be ok. However after it hits 10.0.2.1, it gets lost after that.Am I missing something? Is this a misconfiguration on Paetec’s routers?
Is there a way to associate spare firewall ports with another port that is being used..For example...int gi 0/2 is being used currently for my web dmz. Its ip is 192.168.10.1..Is there a way for me to associate gi 0/3 with the same layer 2 as gi 0/2 ?
In my webdmz I use 2 ACE 4710 proxys in FT mode. I used a layer 2 switch to connect firewall and proxys together.
I would like to eliminate this switch if possible..and connect both 4710's (layer 2) direct to firewall. If I could make gi0/2 - 4 part of the same vlan, then I would be good to go.
What I want to do is the opposite of most configurations. I live on a small island with only one DSL connection. The modem is wired connected to a WAP54G Access point. To extend this access point want to use a WRT54G.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Cisco 1841 that has an ADSL (ATM) card installed. It was previously used with an ADSL line to provide NAT routing for an office. Now I want to use it witha cable modem, which would mean abandoning the ADSL interface and instead routing between the two Ethernet ports.Between the Cisco and the LAN is a Linux transparent proxy. It provides routing between 192.168.1.0 (LAN) and 192.168.2.111 (Cisco LAN interface). The network looks like this:
Cable Modem(174.76.21.1)(gateway) --- (174.76.21.10)(WAN) Cisco 1841 (LAN)(192.168.2.111) --- (192.168.2.11) Linux Proxy (192.168.1.10) --- (192.168.1.0) LAN
For testing and diagnostics, I've connected a laptop to each FastEthernet port on the router. One laptop is configured with the IP 174.76.21.1 to simulate the cable modem gateway and the other laptop has the IP 192.168.2.11 to simulate the Linux proxy. From those systems I've performed the following diagnostics with the following results:
From 192.168.2.11
Ping 192.168.2.111 - OK
Ping 174.76.21.15 - OK
Ping 174.76.21.1 - Timed out
From 174.76.21.1
Ping 174.76.21.15 - OK
NAT translation to LAN IP's failing
There are some vestiges of the ADSL configuration, but I've cleaned most of it out and shut down the ATM interfaces. Here's my config:
