I have a DAP-1522 in my den that I am connecting as a bridge to a Netgear WNDR3800 that in turn is connected to a cable modem in my living room. I have multiple PC's connected to the DAP-1522 via the Ethernet Ports. All the Ethernet connected PC's are getting IP addresses from my Netgear WNDR3800 via DHCP and can access the Internet fine. The weird thing is the PC's connected to the DAP-1522 through the Ethernet ports can't see each other - they are isolated from each other. I can see the DAP-1522 hard wired PC's from a laptop connected wirelessly through the Netgear WNDR3800 but the PC's wired to the DAP-1522 can't see each or communicate to each other via IP, though they can communicate to anything else on the Netgear WNDR3800 wireless network or Internet.Only the PC's connected to the DAP-1522 via the Ethernet ports are isolated from each other. Very strange. This is a problem because I have a NAS device I want to connect to the DAP-1522 that will be shared by the PCs in my den. I do software development and want access between the PC's and NAS device at Ethernet Gigabit speed. I am using default configurations for the DAP-1522. It appears that firmware for the bridging function if funky. I am on firmware version 1.41. The hardware release is A1.Not sure if it is an issue with the DAP-1522 or the Netgear WNDR3800.

I'm trying to get the silly iTunes Wi-Fi sync to work , and I've been told to ensure that these ports are open:5297 TCP 5298 TCP/UDP and 5353 UDP in the hardware router. How do I do this with the DIR-655 (HW version A3, FW version 1.35NA)?

We have an ASA 5505. 5505 comes with two default vlans 1&2 with each of them marked as inside & outside respectively. My query is , if i do not want to use vlans on 5505 and only want to use the Ethernet ports as pure physical layer 3 ports, is it possible?i.e. i want to assign a layer 3 ip address on eth0/0 and eth0/1 and make them as the inside & outside interfaces rather than vlans. is it possible to do away with vlans in 5505 & will it work otherwise?

my house has 4 ports in each room, 2 coaxial, 1 for the net, and one for a TV, and there's a phone jack and a Cat5e Ethernet port. From what I have learned, all my ports lead up to a "closet", and I have found it. It has all the connections for the LAN, and everything else. I am confused on what to do next. I see that there are blue Ethernet cords connected to the ports on one side, and that they are not connected to anything on the other. I thought I had to buy a switch for all these ports, and I haven't done so yet. where am I supposed to connect the modem to the internet. It is currently connected to the internet coaxial port, which it then connect to the VoIP switch, and is then connected to everything else. Where is the coaxial port that I have to plug it in to, and what is it labeled?.

I have a Cisco 1841 that has an ADSL (ATM) card installed. It was previously used with an ADSL line to provide NAT routing for an office. Now I want to use it witha cable modem, which would mean abandoning the ADSL interface and instead routing between the two Ethernet ports.Between the Cisco and the LAN is a Linux transparent proxy. It provides routing between 192.168.1.0 (LAN) and 192.168.2.111 (Cisco LAN interface). The network looks like this:
Cable Modem(174.76.21.1)(gateway) --- (174.76.21.10)(WAN) Cisco 1841 (LAN)(192.168.2.111) --- (192.168.2.11) Linux Proxy (192.168.1.10) --- (192.168.1.0) LAN
For testing and diagnostics, I've connected a laptop to each FastEthernet port on the router. One laptop is configured with the IP 174.76.21.1 to simulate the cable modem gateway and the other laptop has the IP 192.168.2.11 to simulate the Linux proxy. From those systems I've performed the following diagnostics with the following results:
From 192.168.2.11
Ping 192.168.2.111 - OK
Ping 174.76.21.15 - OK
Ping 174.76.21.1 - Timed out
From 174.76.21.1
Ping 174.76.21.15 - OK
NAT translation to LAN IP's failing
There are some vestiges of the ADSL configuration, but I've cleaned most of it out and shut down the ATM interfaces. Here's my config:
!
version 12.4
service timestamps debug datetime msec
service timestamps log datetime msec
no service password-encryption

i would like to "team" two ethernet ports on a 2921 router into a single redundant link to a switch, similar to how an HP server teams multiple NICs to a single IP address. is port-channeling the best/only way to do this? i don't necessarily need the two links to be load balanced or bonded, considering the serial side of this router is just a single T1. i just want the links redundant, so in case something goes wrong with one cable or switchport, traffic will go over the other link.

how the ASR1000s are being setup.I am looking at ASR1000s as part of network refresh and was looking at RJ-45 based Gigabit Ethernet ports compatible with the ASR1000s SPA-5X1GE-V2 seems to be an option but they are all SFPs. Are there any options for RJ-45 ones on ASR1000s?
There is an option for the 2 port where one can mix and match SFPs and RJ45 but I was looking for something which is RJ45 only. Are there any options for them available.I know I could get something with FastEthernet type but was looking for the GigabitEthernet type.

I have Sky Fibre Optic Broadband, with a router supplied by Sky, (You can't use any other router, as username/password for internet is already put into router & they will not give you details when you phone them). The router they supply has only four Ethernet ports on. One is used by Sky to give you Fibre Broadband, thus leaving you with three.I have five devices that must use Ethernet, as they do not have wireless. How do I get more Ethernet ports available to use, without losing the Sky router, as Sky will NOT let you use any other router.

I have an ASUS P5E3 Deluxe motherboard and am having minor connection issues. Occasionally it will have trouble connecting to the internet....IMO, the traffic gets stuck as it attempts to send requests through the non-internet connected line. Here's how I have it connected, running Windows XP: It has a Realtek ethernet jack which is LAN 1 on the Connections menu and that line is connected to the router for internet. Typical set-up that automatically assigns IP address and all other options. It also has a Marvell Yukon connection (LAN 2) that connects to the server so that I can use the networked printer. I've assigned an IP address within the range of the settings on that router. The printer works. Is there a way to direct all internet or web data through one card so that the connection doesn't get bogged down? The server has no internet connection so I don't want any internet requests to go through the Marvell Yukon ethernet jack.

How many routed ethernet ports do they support when using HWIC-1FE and HWIC-2FE modules? On the Cisco site for the two interface modules and in the corrseponding PDF of supported interfaces for 29xx routers a maximum number of 2 2port modules(HWIC-2FE) and 2 1port modules(HWIC-2FE) is written.Does this mean, that I can put in 4 L3 HWIC modules into one Cisco 2921 router by combining these two HWIC modules resulting in a total number of 7 interfaces for this router?

enabling traffic between interfaces on the ASA 5510. Of course I have an outside interface E0/0 and an inside interface (E0/1) for normal operation. The idea was to enable one of the remaining interfaces on the 5510 to attach an internal network resource to for management in case we lost our switch. I am using E0/0 as the outside interface and the inside interface is E0/1. I am wanting to attached a management device on the same inside network IP address range for simplicity. I have E0/2 configured for the same security level (100) as the other inside interface and I also have enabled same-security-traffic permit inter-interface as well but I still cannot access the device on that port. Is there something else I am missing? I guess the best way to explain this is that I want ports E0/2 and E0/3 to act like a "switch" so to say...... The ASA 5505 lets you do this pretty easy but having trouble on the 5510.

the incoming fiber on ports 9 and 10 are on different subnets. I need to map the subnet on port 9 to ethernet ports 1-9 and port 10 is on its own. I have the device IPv4 address set to a static address on the same subnet as port 9. I don't know if there's an easier approach, but I attempted to map the ports using vlans (See the attached screenshots). We don't yet have the fiber link established for port 10, so I haven't had a chance to test, but I wanted to confirm that my configuration is sound. I used the default vlan for ports 1-9, because I need to manage through that subnet. I added vlan 10 for port 10, but I don't know if I have it configured correctly.

I have a router conected to the WLC using the port 1, and the APs are in ports 7 and 8, but when I plug a pc in the port number 3, I do not get and IP from DHCP server, (DHCP is giving by the router). Im not sure if the 2106 WLC ports are for connect other network devices like a pc... I would like to know if there is a way to configure the controller to conect a host or a pc to the ethernet ports.

I am setting up a 1921 with two ethernet WAN ports going to two seperate ADSL ISP's (via bridged modems) and one connecting to the internal LAN. There is a single e-mail / web server behind the router.
I have been reading the following which is exactly what we want to do, but I have questions. Maybe failover would be better because Load Balancing seems a little too quirky without BGP. url...
How do we define public static IP's, the example seems to show DHCP?In order to detect if a line is down, it has to ping an IP address that is specific to the connection - correct? So could I use the gateway for the ISP? The issue I have with this is the gateway might be up, but the Internet down. Next, we need to make sure that when someone visits one of our public IP addresses, the return data is sent through the connection requested. What we don't want is a situation where incoming connections are not working. From experience, load-balancing causes certain websites and SaaS applications to break because requests are coming from two different ISP's. Is this the case with OER? Finally, any links, config or something to advise how a fail over only configuration would work given we have internal servers (PAT/NAT inbound would need to translate properly with the failover IP)? Basically if ISP 1 goes down, I.E. router cannot ping 8.8.4.4 then it switches to ISP 2, until ISP 1 comes back online and switches back? This would need to change the NAT rules for inbound as described.

I have my router updated with the latest firmware and I'm pretty sure all the settings are correct but I'm only getting a max transfer rate of 144Mbps. I know this because I use InSSIDer 3 to analyse my wifi network etc. I stream movies over my network and while DVD quality movies play fine, HD movies tend to freeze and buffer a lot. I have the router's channel width set to 40Mhz, so I know that's not the problem. Strangely, I also use a Netgear wifi extender with the MR3420 and it's max rate is 300Mbps.

I've lost connectivity with all but one of the ethernet ports on my E4200 router. My desktop PC was connected to Port 1 but stopped working. Network troubleshooting via my Windows 7 Dell 8300 said I was not connected and to check the cable. I did that with several different cables and tried the usual router and modem reset. Only through trial and error did I find that I could connect to port 4 which is why I am able to write this post. What could have changed to disable ports 1-3 and can I get them working again? No issues with wireless connectivity.

We are running a Cisco 887VA router for our internet access but of course the port connected to the internal network only supports 100Mbit/s. There are a few 100Mbit/s ports on the router; I was wondering whether it was possible to use more than one port to provide aggregation to get higher speed such as two ports providing 200Mbit/s? I am running windows xp on an old desktop, I am using a wiresless usb adapter to utilize a wifi connection available in the dorms. to connect, i have to enable proxy on the browser I am also using an Ethernet connection via a LAN cable, which does not need a proxy to run
The issue is that although i browse freely using both connections simultaneously by using two different browsers, with the proxy setting enabled in one and disabled in the other, i can not run uTorrent when both connections are enabled. i have to go into network neighbourhood and disable the wifi connection, and only then does downloading start. the university does not allow bit-torrent downloading on the wifi connection so i have to use the ethernet.
