I'm having some trouble with connecting wirelessly through my laptop. Sometimes it works fine, with a very good signal, but sometimes it doesn't work at all. I can connect to the internet through the computer in my house, and when the laptop is wired to the router.

A few days ago my internet suddenly stopped working. I plugged in the ethernet cord and everything worked fine. Checking the properties in the device manager showed the device was working properly, I also tried resetting it to make sure it was enabled but it did not work.
Upon troubleshooting, the "Windows Network Diagnostic" said the problems was that the Wireless adapter was not turned on. Using the switch on the front of the laptop as well as the function keys does nothing. Usually a graphic pops up showing if the WiFi is on or off, changinging transparent to show the WiFi is disabled. Now when I turn the switch on it always appears transparent, effectively going from off to off
So I know the computer reads both the function keys and the switch on the front but both methods never actually turns the adapter on. I just finished a system restore and nothing has changed
I have a Dell Dimension 4400 pc (XP SP3) connected to Linksys WRT54G2 v1.5 router with no issues. Dell Inspirion (XP) connected to router with Linksys WPC54G Wireless notebook adapter with no issues for months. A couple of days ago, purchased a Vizio Blu Ray DVD Player (VBR220) with WiFi. I connected the Vizio to the network by entering the router pin into the Vizio network set up. It worked perfectly. However at the same time, the laptop network connection dropped, and I had not been able to reconnect, although it does recognize the network signal. I click connect to the network, enter the pass phrase (using WEP 26), but it does not connect to the access point. I disabled both firewalls, but still got the same result. I attempted using the WiFi Protected Setup, and the router advised me connection failed, while the laptop advised me the same thing. When I disabled security on the router, I was able to connect to the network via laptop, however, when I restored the security on the router, the laptop could no longer connect. Today, I reset the router, restored factory default settings and reinstalled everything. The laptop was able to connect with no problem. I again connected the Vizio by inputing the router pin into the Blu Ray network settings. Again it connected with no problem, but again the laptop connection was lost immediately, and I'm again unable to restore network connection on the laptop.

Then I have to enable and disable the wireless functionality until it starts seeing nearby wireless networks.

The internet works fine on both desktop since they're plugged via Ethernet, but my wireless connection is giving me a hard time on my laptop. I know the wireless works cause I have 2 iphones and they're connected via wifi and works fine. It's just this laptop that is having problems. when I click on connect to wireless, it does but it doesn't show the proper "connected" icon (when it's connected it shows two monitors and a small world, now it's just the two monitors without the world)

I thought it was the browser so I installed the Internet Explorer 9 and while doing so it was able to download the updates but when I open up the browser it still doesn't work.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen I check the strength sometimes it indicates it's good if I'm practically sitting on top of the router, this seems to eventually degrade to low until finally the connection drops.Repairing' with XP repair facility doesn't work. I can forget about getting a connection if I move further away from the router. At the moment I'm relying on using an ethernet cable snaking across the dining room, which isn't really practical with a toddler and a dog racing around. Recently a friend put a bigger HD in and before this it was working fine, so I suspect that it may be due to this. I think it's due to the wirless card in the laptop, as I have a number of other devices in the house which all work fine.

A couple of weeks ago, my wireless connection was getting slower and slower. As one day it decided to get extremely slow, I decided to uninstall the wireless card via device manager and reinstall it. Once this had been completed, the wireless just stopped working. The signal bar came up with zero and had a big red X in it. It works fine with ethernet cable but just won't seem to work as a wifi connector.
I have reinstalled all drivers and everything is enabled. When troubleshooting, it comes up with a possible problem with driver. Once this has been resolved it is then a problem with the network. The router is fine as I am able to connect on every other device in the house. I even purchased a USB wifi adaptor in the event of the Wireless card packing in but this is still creating the same problem. I used system restore to roll back the laptop to a time when the wireless worked and it didn't seem to work at all.
I have a WRT160N v3 at home, it's been working well. I usually only have an old Toshiba Satelite on the network, which runs G IIRC.I had the network setup as open without a password (I don't really have any neighbors nearbye) however when a new computer tries to get on my network, I usually have to hit the 'sync' or w/e button on the router for the computer to get on. I'm happy with that setup, and it seems to have been working fine.

I was missing some network adapters which I have reinstalled, and the hard wired connection is now working again, but wireless will not get past the acquiring network address phase. I tried the ipconfig /all and it shows my IP address as 0.0.0.0 and the same on the subnet mask. it says the autoconfig is enabled and dhcp is enabled. My HP laptop is connecting to the wireless network just fine.

My WiFi says that I am connected to an Unidentified network with no internet access. So i got frustrated and checked all the forums and nothing seemed to work. So i restored my computer to factory settings and I still got this problem. Does this mean my Wifi Card is bad? Is it a virus? I can see other networks fine but i just cant connect to mine!

I have a Toshiba Satallite Pro L300 laptop.I went to the Toshiba site to find a download for the wireless adaptor but couldn't even find my model number on their system. I can get on the internet by plugging directly to the modem, and my internet provider suggests it must be the adaptor. I have attempted to reestablish the connection through various methods but none have worked. Under netwrok connections LAN connection is down, but wireless connection is running.
I purchased an e4200 about 6 months ago and it worked great until the other night the Internet stopped working on my laptop (wireless). I tried unplugging both my modem (Motorola Surfboard) and router and plugging them back in, but no luck. I can accesss the Internet when plugged directly into the router (with both my PC and laptop), so it looks like the issue is with the e4200. To make matters worse (and I fear much worse), I can't even access the admin page to the router through either the Cisco Connect software or through the IP address. I've tried resetting it, I've tried the 30/30/30 reset (holding the reset button while doing an unplug and pluging back in), and reinstalling the Cisco Connect software, all to no avail.
I've found threads where others have not been able to access the admin page, but they still had access to the Internet url... I haven't found a similar thread where the router doesn't seem to work at all. A few other bits of information I can think of (let me know if there's other information I can provide):The Cisco logo light flashes slowly after reset which I believe is expected.The lights in back of the router seem to work as intended.Running Windows 7 Diagnostics finds the connection "doesn't have a valid IP configuration" and "The default gateway is not available."
I have a Studio 1557 laptop (purchased in late December 2009) that all of a sudden has lost wireless connection to the internet. Went to use it last night (Thursday) for normal use and no wireless connection at all. Before this issue, there were no problems connecting thru wireless at all...in fact used it Wednesday evening for work/surfing and no problems whatsoever. We are using a Linksys 160N router...have 2 other computers and 2 iPod Touches that are connecting just fine, absolutely no problems. It can connect thru a wired connection with no problems but nothing thru wireless...this is a fairly new router, about 10 days old, but haven't had any issues with it since set-up.
I didn't have much of a chance to do anything about this last night or this morning. I really don't want to bother calling Dell Support either.

I tried restarting 3 times and that didn't fix anything. I try to repair the connection and it tells me it failed.
I'm using Windows Vista on the laptop.
I can connect to the internet wireless but my daughter is unable to connect with her laptop. She is showing that she is connected but when she tries to click on the internet explorer it tells her that the Internet Explorere cannot display the webpage.

I asked some friends and they seem to have the same problem too but not nearly as often as I do. Every so often, my laptop's wifi just stops working so I turn it off and then turn it back on and it starts working again. View 7 Replies View RelatedSo here is what happened, it started two days ago. I use a wifi connection at work, it's an unsecure wifi and I don't know where it comes from. But I am able to get on here at work and do stuff... two days ago I tried and it let me on like normal, but then I couldn't get on websites, it said local access only... so I was like mmm that's odd and the little CD looking thing wasn't there it was just two computers on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. So I restarted after attempting a few times... same problem, finally after a while it let me online but it was very slow and kept kicking me off. When I would try to reconnect sometimes it wouldn't let me and it would give me the option to diagnose the problem or try a new network, I'd move around and finally get on.
I restored back to a day when it was working fine, I did a disc clean up, I used my CCleaner, I defragged my laptop. I have an e system 2513 lap top that was wireless up until last tuesday when i got a new router installed by F10 togetVirgin. Nothing else in my house has been effected by it. Have tried Fn &F10 together but it still isnt working. Its currently got an ethernet cable attatched to it to get online.

View 5 Replies View RelatedSo my new msi GT683r has an Intel Centrino Wireless N-130 card. It plays nicely with my newer N band routers, but it can't connect to my old WRT54G (no N obviously).
For some reason my computer can't connect a solid G signal. It connects and disconnects (Solid 4 bars one minute yellow triangle the next) seemingly frequently. Packets surge as well. I may send and receive 10k packets one time every minute or so, but no more than 150k or so.
I've troubleshot essentially everything I can, from upgraded drivers, resetting the router + new WPA, etc, and no go.
WRT54G works fine. All my devices are connected to it except my new msi laptop.
