My computer will sometimes be connected to the router but internet access isn't available. This is easily fixed by resetting the router, but I was thinking that it would be good to just write a batch file to do it when needed. How would a write a batch file that will restart the router based of the result of pinging an internet site/server.
I have a project in java. there are some batch files. i am not able to run those files. it just blinks and disappears immediately. should i change some settings in my windows xp?
i'm trying to write a simple batch file to make my life easier. We have a few dozen Aix Boses that we telnet into and about 70 as400 Swift systems we telnet into. i was starting on a batch file like the one below where i could run it, type in the system and it log me over. What I want to add is for it to put in my user name. (if i could draw a password from a excel file that would be fantastic but id settle for just my user name). I have tried - l (username) at the end of telent and it didn't work. also tried -a. i keep getting the box with user name/password and there both blank. how i can get it to type in my user name?
here is my script.
@echo off set /p name= What system are you logging into? telnet %name%
i tried start script.vbs as another attempt using this info
How to setup 2 PC to write to the same file simultaneous without loosingdata or messing up the data from any two pc in a peer to peer network?Let say a file reside on PC1, both user open a file and edit the same timeand save the data and the file contain both data from both computerwithout messing up the content from either user
My 1140 doesn't write to the config.txt file. I'm not sure why. I have three of these access points that we changed the firmware to make them autonomous. The other two worked fine.
So I finally got all my parts delivered to setup a home file/backup server this week.
It's currently running Ubuntu Server and I'm using Samba to share files on my network.
The server currently has a 2TB WD Green drive in it connected to a Asus M5A78L-M
This is then connected via CAT6a to my new Gigabit switch (TP-Link TL-SG1005D). My home desktop is then also connected to this switch and again also through CAT6a cable.
Currently when transfering files I will get a perfect 100MB/s read from the server to my Windows machine. When copying from my Windows machine to the server I get around 30/38MB/s.
I know this drive is capable is faster speeds.
I have found ftp's write speed is much closer to what my Samba read speed is so I'm going to give it a guess that is a software problem rather than hardware
At the moment everytime I want to make a change to firewall rules I click apply and the rules are applied Immediately. I have to make multiple changes during the working day which I don't like to do.
What I would like to do is make changes during the day but not apply them until out of hours (some sort of batch mode). Like I can do in my check point firewalls.
Did not write down the KEY for my wireless router...a CISCO/LINKSYS E1200. My old router had an HTTP address I could type in and access the router and read the security setings.....what http do I type in to read key on this wireless router?
I am trying to FTP a 25MB file to a client using FileZilla and my wired WRT310N router. In the past I have never had a problem but now I am getting the following error: Could not write to transfer socket: EPIPE - Local endpoint has been closed.I changed the MTU to manual - 1500 on the router.I am using an almost brand new iMacThe iMac firewall is OFFTimeout in Filezilla is set to 0.The transfer stops at about 12MB everytime I try; which is ~ 35 seconds.
I bought a seagate USB hard drive today from Target. Its a 2TB and I was going to use it via USB attached to my router. I connected it and the Linksys firmware detected it and I was able to create the appropriate folders on the drive for storage through the linksys GUI.My issue is that I am now trying to move my movies and tv shows over to the drive and it isn't allowing me to do that.
I get an error message that says "You don't have access to //myshare. contact your administrator".
I'm not sure why I was able to create folders on this drive but am unable to move files to it. Makes no sense to me. Write permission is write permission no?My machine which currently stores the media files is windows7 utimate. The router is E3000 using up to date stock firmware.
If I try to set a torrent download to write directly to the USB drive on my E3000, it only works for a few minutes (at low speeds) and then I lose access to the drive and the torrent stops. I can access the drive again less than a minute afterwards.
It'd be handy to be able to write torrents straight to the USB drive instead of having to move the completed files to it after the torrent is finished.
I have created a share (entire partition) on my external hard drive, which is connected to my E4200 router. The connection to the share is \192.168.1.1ExHDOn the hard drive I've got a folder called "Mijn muziek" (Dutch for My music). So when i go to \192.168.1.1ExHDMijn muziek, the content of the folder is shown. The weird thing is, I can rename the folder, but i cannot add anything to the folder or remove anything from it. I can add files to other folders on the hard driveAnother thing I don't understand is that his folder shows up as "Music" when I create the share.Music is not a folder on the hard drive, but when I go to \192.168.1.1ExHDMusic, i'm in the "Mijn muziek" folder.I have the exact same problems with the folders "Mijn documenten" (shown as Documents) and "Mijn afbeeldingen" (shown as Pictures). Why i don't have write access on the Mijn muziek folder? And how I can manage to get write access on it?
For the past week or so I've been having trouble with my Wi-Fi connection. I have a desktop PC, a kindle and a PS3 that all connect to it.
If I turn on my Kindle after it's been off for a while it'll try to connect to the Wi-Fi but will keep alternating between 'Authenticating'/'Connecting' and never gets to the 'Obtaining IP Address' part so it shows the signal strength bars at the top but they're totally empty. If I go and unplug the modem and the router, let them sit for a minute, plug them back in the large light on the router will flash orange (it's usually green) so I press and hold the WPS button which begins to flash and then both lights turn green and the Kindle quickly connects itself to the Wi-Fi. If I don't let it go into sleep mode or turn it off it will stay connected but if it turns off I have to do the same modem/router reset. When I'm at school or work I have zero issues connecting their wireless networks.
With the PS3, if it's turned on while I reset the modem/router it will connect to the network but if it's turned off during the reset it will not connect when I turn it on later. Also, either way, it no longer connects to my media server (sharing files between the PC and the PS3) regardless of connecting or not.
Is there any way yo restart the WRT160NL from the web interface? I've had several routers before this Linksys and all of them had this option. In the web GUI of the WRT I can't find the way to do it and I have no other solution of unplugging it and plugging again.

I am using the Router in 3G/4G mode, with WAN only (PPPOE) enabled. I have set a personal SSID in the Wireless > Wireless Settings > Wireless Network Name field.
I do not see the particular SSID on my computer, instead on every reboot / restart of the device a random SSID is generated. see attached screenshot. I can connect and everything works well, but I have to enter the WPA key after each reboot.
I have a linksys WAG120N router updated to 1.00.16and I have Wi-Fi problems that while I use Wi-Fi on my laptop or mobile then the Wi-Fi disconnected (wifi on router still green but i can't connect ) until i restart router.

I am setting up a Cisco 1941 series router for our department in Denmark. As we quickly relised we had to reset the router to it's defult settings. As we comunicated with the router thorugh HyperTerminal, the router asked me to restart. After we did so the router only sends encrypted messages wich is unreadable. We neither get any respons in the terminal when we try to write commands back to the router. We have tried to use different terminal programs as well as the USB port on the router.
I have a Win7 64bit laptop connected to my home network by both 85 mps Netgear Powerline and wifi. On the network are mt BT Homehub router and an Iomega Home Media NAS. when trying to backup photo files (5+ mb) from laptop to NAS I find the write speed become so slow as to be unuseable via Ethernet.
I want to see log for write on ASA5520. who & when write lastly and who write before. How to see this log. In show vershon i see last modified date, but not log.
I connected my Western Digital Studio II 2TB external harddrive which is formatted NTFS. I can access the drive and read it. But I can't write it. It says I do not have rights. I tried to get to be the owner of the device but it gave some kind of error.
I have a new laptop and had a dlink DIR601 installed on an older laptop. I wasn't the one who got it set up originally but they did have me write down my SSID, password and security key. The dlink came with a cd but there is no cd rom on this laptop. I have tried reset, on line download (which only let me do the revisions). I have talked to a few people and they say it's easy!
When I make changes to the config of my ASA 5505 and write mem (or use the ASDM to save running config to flash) the changes are not being saved.
Is this going to be a problem with the Flash Memory on the device?I have successfully saved config on this device in the past, which is why I am thinking it might be a problem with the flash memory.
