I have a computer with windows 2003 server installed on it. There is one shared folder. The computer's name is SERVER. The shared folder's name is OFFICE.Whenever I type \SERVEROFFICE in a windows explorer window, I get a pop up window with a message that says that Windows does not find \SERVEROFFICE.I mean, I should be able to see the folder in this way because this OFFICE folder is shared and I am doing this from the same computer and not from another computer in the LAN.

I am currently in an enterprise environment where we use AD and have security groups that allow access to certain network shares and folders. I have a user that is in a dept that has its own network share but would like to share a specific folder on that share with another user in another dept that does NOT need access to the entire share.

We have a server machine running windows 7. just a few days ago, it started not being able to access its own sharing folders. From network, I can see all other computers(Xps and Window 7s). I can access other computer's sharing folders too. But when I try to access the server's own sharing folder, it gives me this error message:
"Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. To try to identify and resolve network problems, click diagnose. "

We have recently ordered a laptop along with a docking station with the intention of connecting it with the desktop PC in the office. We want the documents folders of both computers to be synchronized and to that end we want to share the folders between each computer. However, to do so we will have to connect the laptop to the larger network in our office. Given the sensitive nature of the documents we only want the desktop PC and the laptop to be able to access these files and synchronize them.
Is there anyway in Windows 7 to specify exactly which computers are allowed access to shared folders on a computer? What's the best way to achieve the file synchronization between the two?

I have shared a folder on my server with sharing & NTFS permissions. I am the administrator and have more than the required permissions.
Yet when i try and access the folder from My Computer, it tells me that it is not accessible and that access is denied.Ive done the same for every other user who should have access, with no problems.
Ive also looked at parent permissions and inheriting and have found no reason for this.

You do not have permission to access \xpusercwindows. Contact your network administrator to request access."
I'm admin on both systems(home). Even after searching online, I still haven't come across a solution to my problem.

I'm having Local Area Network(LAN) with 10-15 client computers connected to three servers. And I've folder containing files in one of the servers which I can access and proceed my daily downloading and uploading activity.Due to Virus I've formatted some of the client computers and re-installed everything. Now the problem is I can get Ping Command request successfully but can't access that folder from the clients instead it's been asking for username and password. Also, that username and password is not working even if used it.

I manage to configure the firewall 5505 so that it can ping between outside and DMZ and also between DMZ and inside.
Outside and Inside are not accessible to each other because Outside No Forward to Inside.
My purpose now wants to access the shared folder by Windows Explorer ( under Network ) between for example DMZ and inside. I tried to do it but cannnot even see the Host of the other party network. For example, if I open Windows explorer at DMZ, I can't see the Host at Inside Network. Same as I open Windows Exploere at Inside, I can't see also the Host at DMZ network.
How am I configure so that I can access the hsot as well as shared folder of two sites which already can ping each other?

When I try to copy a file to the drive VIA the network folder on my computer it says "Destination Folder Access Denied, You Need Permision To Perform This Action". I used to be able to copy files to the drive so I am sure it is just a setting on the router or something.

I have created a share (entire partition) on my external hard drive, which is connected to my E4200 router. The connection to the share is \192.168.1.1ExHDOn the hard drive I've got a folder called "Mijn muziek" (Dutch for My music). So when i go to \192.168.1.1ExHDMijn muziek, the content of the folder is shown. The weird thing is, I can rename the folder, but i cannot add anything to the folder or remove anything from it. I can add files to other folders on the hard driveAnother thing I don't understand is that his folder shows up as "Music" when I create the share.Music is not a folder on the hard drive, but when I go to \192.168.1.1ExHDMusic, i'm in the "Mijn muziek" folder.I have the exact same problems with the folders "Mijn documenten" (shown as Documents) and "Mijn afbeeldingen" (shown as Pictures). Why i don't have write access on the Mijn muziek folder? And how I can manage to get write access on it?

I'm trying map the USB hard drive connected to my EA4500 router as a network drive in Windows 7, and it works perfectly until I enable secure folder access on the router.
After enabling secure folder access, and not changing any other settings on the router I first unmount the drive since it was set up without credentials and doesn't work that way any more. When I try to remap the drive I use the same address, but select "Connect using different credentials" When it prompts me for the log in info I try using the router admin account, but it fails to connect. Windows network diagnostics tells me the device refused the connection. I proceeded to set up an account on the router under the folder access settings with the same username, and password I use on my computer, and tried to connect it without checking "Connect using different credentials" (And typing them in manually if that matters) with the same results.
Even with secure folder access enabled I can still reach the drive just fine by typing "ftp://192.168.1.1/" into file explorer. It prompts me for a username and password, I put in the admin credentials, and I'm in. Even the account I created with the same username/password as my computer works this way.
After disabling secure folder access everything works perfectly fine again... I would MUCH rather do this with it though.
Following these directions: [URL] When clicking the browse button the router shows up when secure folder access is disabled, but does not after it is enabled. I've looked through my windows sharing settings, and haven't noticed anything that should cause problems, pretty much everything is enabled. I've also tried turning off my firewall with no success.

I am trying to create a shared folder accessible to anyone on the network. The folowing are my settings under advanced sharing settings.
-Turn OFF network discovery
-Turn ON file and print sharing
-Turn ON sharing so anyone with network access can read/write files in the public folder
-USE 128 Bit encryption
-Turn ON password protected sharing.
The settings are as follows for the folder.Under the security tab, User EVERYONE, full control. There are no deny settings anywhere.Under The sharing Tab-Advanced Sharing- Share this folder is checked. After clicking Permissions, the only uder in here is EVERYONE with full control. When someone else on another computer clicks on my computers name, it asks for a username/password. I do not wish to give out the username/password of any user on this computer. I created another user on the computer that has the shared folder. When that username and password is entered on another computer, the computer does not accept it, and requests the username and password.WITHOUT totally reconfiging the network settings on the computer to share the folder, how do I create a folder that will permit everyone to read/write from? If reconfiguring of the network settings are required, what settings do I need to change to ensure high security, and will permit anyone on the network to access this folder?

I have a desktop pc, and a laptop both connected to wireless internet in a house with about 5 other computers getting internet off of the same wireless router.A while back I had figured out how to share my printer which is wired to my desktop, with my laptop but without sharing any files and figured i had done it.Today I had to figure out why the printer had stopped printing from the laptop and i noticed that in the network area of the explorer I could see my users files on the desktop from my laptop and vice versa. I have been trying everything that seems to be there to disable sharing these files, other then disconnecting from the internet.
On my desktop I can right click on the users folder and choose share>share with nobody. I did that.I also went into the advance sharing options on both devices and tried disabling everything but network discovery. From what I gather discovery is just letting me browse, and not actually showing me that things aren't available to share. So with everything else turned off, like file and printer sharing, all that other stuff, I can STILL see and move and use the files that I have "shared with nobody" even regardless of the fact that I have disabled printer and file sharing. Both machines are running Windows 7

The IT department in my university has installed enternet 300 on all of our pc's - we have to use this to log into the inter/intranet on the campus. According to them, it is not possible to have the computer automatically log onto the system. I looked into the program, however, and found a place to put ip addresses, account and password. Note: the IT department in my school works hard but it not known for developing complete knowledge about the platforms they work on - there are many.
Is this correct is it possible to put the program in the startup folder and let the computer log on automatically? To be honest, even though most systems on campus us win 2000, I thought win 2000 had the ability to do this (log on to a network) natively, so I am a little puzzled as to why they have this on the computer.

our office has 2 branches recently the static ip of the branch was changed to a different subnet. earlier it used to be
111.170.150.140 subnet mask (255.255.255.128) main branch router (1) ip which forwards all request to server (dmz) - unchanged
111.170.150.141 subnet mask 255.255.255.128 sub branch (2) router ip changed to 111.170.150.61 subnet mask 255.255.255.224
after this change i am not able to access shared folders on the dmz server (1) (111.170.150.140). i am able to ping the ip and also able to open remote desktop connections from sub branch (2).i suspect that it is because of subnet change as i was earlier able to access shared folders? How can we access the shared folders across the subnet? what settings to change?
