Can't Connect Through Router To Internet
Sep 16, 2011
My wife's laptop says that she is connected through our wireless router to the internet, yet internet pages won't load. My laptop works fine with this router, as does my kindle and our printer. We tried using a different wireless router at our home, but had the same problem. The problem started when my wife transfered her hard drive from one laptop into another. Everything on the new laptop works fine except the internet connection. We tried reinstalling the operating system from the original discs, but this didn't fix the problem. We took it into a computer shop, and it connected fine through their wireless router, but still won't connect through our router at home.

At first I can connect to Internet for 1 min and fails afterwards even if I reconnect to the router. Then I turn on the Access Control settings on my (NETGEAR) router and put my laptop into the trusted wireless stations list, now it can connect to Internet for 1 min and fails however it works for another 1 min if i reconnect to the router. So now I need to reconnect to the router every minute or so.I can connect to the Internet via Ethernet cables, so I am quite sure it's the wireless problem on my router but not the service provider's fault.

I bought a Cisco-Linksys E3200 8 months ago and it worked well until last month. I usually power down the router after midnight & power up in the morning and evevry time it can connect to internet through DSL modem without problem until this Feb. Most of the time after powering up the router it just can't connect to internet anymore. I am sure the AT&T DSL modem is working. I have to reboot/reset the router & DSL modem several time to get router to connect to internet again. The order of resetting/rebooting DSL modem & E3200 router seems to make no difference. It just appears suddenly the router can connect to internet by chance. I changed router IP and it didn't work either. It's really annoying becuase I have to spend 10~40 minutes to resetting/rebooting DSL modem & router to get internet connection every day.

My connection to my router still says it's on but my Internet will not connect. It tells me page can not be loaded. Other programs that use Internet access are not working either. I tried resetting modem and router. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling my adapter in the device manager. I did install malwarebytes to remove some spyware.

I have a Compaq computer running Windows 2000 SP4 that, when connected to the Motorola Modem/Router (ATT U-VERSE) wired, workes fine, but when I attempt to connect it wireless, the Hawking software says I am connected but it will not access the internet and the IP address is 00.00.00.00. When I try the same thing with another computer, Lenovo laptop, running Win XP SP3 it connects both wired through a dock and wireless without the dock, with no problems. I tried the Hawking wireless (USB card) in the Lenovo and it also would connect. Apparently there is some issue with Win2000. It should also be noted that I did not have this problem when my ISP was Comcast. Is just started last month when I switched from Comcast to AT&T.

I've recently did a factory reset on an old Sony Vaio running Vista Home Premium.Everything works fine except for trying to get onto the internet via wireless. It connects to the router (BT Business 2Wire 2701) but can't get onto the internet. It can get onto the internet using ethernet and also if the router has WEP or no encryption. But I can't get it to connect using WPA and or WPA2.Other users on XP and Windows 7 can get onto the internet via wireless ok using WPA.

When I moved in with my new husband, we kept his internet provider, but I wanted to use my new wireless router with his modem. I can connect to the internet straight from the modem on both our PC and my laptop, and can connect to the wireless router (excellent strength). When I connect the modem to the router, however, the internet connection is lost. For some reason (I never had this issue with my old modem) I can not get the two to communicate with each other. I have tried resetting my router to factory default, and shutting everything down and going through the manuals step by step. I can not get the USB connection to work with the modem (driver won't install/can't be found on the disk) and both the modem and my laptop only have one connecting port for the Ethernet cable, so currently I can't connect the router to the modem and my modem to the computer at the same time.

For several years I was connected to the internet via a USB modem (with TalkTalk being my ISP), however, after purchasing a laptop with Wi-Fi for my partner's daughter, decided it was time to get a router so we could all use the internet.I purchased a Netgear N150 Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router, model DGN1000, connected (via ethernet as the desktop has no wireless receiver) and installed it as per instructions supplied. However since that point I have been unable to connect to the internet on my desktop through the router. Wireless devices (several laptops, iPhones and games consoles) have no issues whatsoever in connecting and using the internet.
At first the desktop kept saying that I had "limited or no connectivity" which I eventually sorted out, there was some kind of issue with my IP address, but I can't remember what now. Now I when I try to load any website, Internet explorer tells me it couldn't load the page due to .... Google Chrome is more specific and tells me that the DNS lookup failed. I have tried updating the ethernet controller driver, using the 'flushdns' command, and after discovering many other people on TalkTalk tech forums having similar DNS issues, tried using DNS addresses that were suggested by both their support staff and members of the public (i.e. Google's DNS 8.8.8.8), and still nothing. If I reconnect my USB modem I can connect to the internet no problem, but I'd prefer to only have one modem on the go.I am running a HP Pavilion with Win XP (SP2), and all the laptops that have connected wirelessly (including the one I'm using now) are running Vista.

I have been having problems forever connecting to internet at my apartment. My roommate has a Belkin router, and him and my other roommate have no problems connecting. I used to be able to get on it fine, however now I either get "connection unsuccessful" or "unidentified...(Belkin.3BC3) - Limited Connectivity" when I try to connect. Our landlord provides the internet, and we have the base router(not wireless) in our basement. But even when plugging into the wall with a ethernet chord I get local only. This is the only place I have any internet problems, anywhere else I can connect just fine.

I'm at my brothers house for a few months and trying to get my laptop connected wirelessly to his network. They have multiple computers and their laptops all are able to connect wirelessly. My laptop is able to connect via cable. It also gets a local connection wirelessly, just won't connect to the internet so I'm assuming it's a setting on my computer. It's a Linksys E3000 router. I have an HP G60-235DX laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium.

We recently switched from ATT to Comcast in our house so we needed a new router since 2wire won't work with the Comcast modem. So we installed the router - no problems. Its been working great for about 3 weeks now, but yesterday when I tried to get on, it said the router had "no internet access" and I haven't been able to get it to work since.I have restarted the router, the modem, and my computer several times and reset the router to factory settings to no avail. I thought it might be a problem with comcast (maybe the storms knocked something out) but the modem is working fine; TV and phones still work and all of the lights on the modem box (power, DS, US, Online, ect.) are still on. I called comcast and they said they have registered no issues in the area.Right now I'm connected to the internet through the modem. I've tried everything I can think of[CODE]

I recently restored my computer to factory settings and had to reinstall everything. I can not get on the internet. All the lights that should be on are on on both the modem (Westell Wirespeed) and the Linksys Router (Wireless-G), I have strong signal and it says it is connected in my network connections, but no pages load. If I take the router out of the equation and just use the modem and ethernet cord the internet works perfectly. I have no clue what to do. I know the router works because it worked fine before I restored the computer. I am running Windows XP. I don't know what service pack though

I just got a used wireless router (didn't get any cords yet). I have an old wired modem that connects to my pc to give me internet. It uses a cable (not ethernet cord) that plugs into the wall. My wireless modem is a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband router model number WRT54GS and for the internet connection uses ethernet. How can i connect the wireless router to the internet so i have a wireless connection? I tried plugging the ethernet cord into my modem and the other side into the internet port in the router, but it didn't work.

I thought that all my problems would be solved when I recently bought the Belkin Play router with dd-wrt 24 sp2 (build 18050M) firmware. It was only a partial success.
My situation is the following: a neighbor on the other side of the street has wifi, which he is willing to share. But it barely reaches my house. So I thought I would solve the problem by installing my Belkin Play as a repeater bridge, so I could connect my PC to it by cable while also connecting my mobile devices.

For some inexplicable reason my router connected for a while but then, seemingly for no reason, disconnected. I wanted to figure out why that was and tried setting my PC's IP address to 192.168.1.5. This way I was able to connect to my router but still unable to connect to the internet. Interestingly enough, when I take my laptop close to the window, I can connect to the original network with internet access.

I have a D-link DIR-655 router which used to be able to connect to the internet fine through my modem. However, it wasn't connecting to the internet when I woke up this morning. I tried all the standard replacing the cables, powercycling the router, modem, and rebooting the PC. After trying all that, I used the reset button on the router and reconfigured manually by entering the IP into my browser and logging in that way, but still nothing. I can connect to the internet by plugging the modem directly into my PC, but connecting through the router or wirelessly doesn't work. I can connect to the network itself through the router, and wireless from my laptop, but it only has local access.
Here's the ipconfig going through the router:

C:UsersSolon Family>ipconfig /all
Windows IP Configuration
Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : SolonFamily-PC

Last night Comcast reset our modem (from afar) so we could get a free movie to work. After that, we got the movie but my wireless internet now does not work. I can connect when attached to the cable modem but when I plug into the router I don't have access to internet. The router is plugged in and all lights are working (it acts normally otherwise). Also, our landline phone (which is in the bundle of the cable connection) does not work either.Comcast is willing to look at the phone but refuses to get involved in the wireless thing. What the heck is wrong?

Few days ago my people from my ISP installed a router in my house, now it's a D-Link DIR-100 router which they configured themselves and then left. Thing is I have never had a router before so I don't know first thing about them.My current problem is that I want to simultaneously connect another pc to the router, without having to turn one of the pcs off, but they don't seem to be working at the same time, I am guessing it's because of the IP conflict, both pcs had the same IP. I thought I would take a look at the routers web interface but was unable to connect to the default address mentioned in the guide (192.168.0.1), after some googling I tried every kind of variation of the IP addresses, including default gateway (which is different) and whatnot, but still unable to connect. I don't get a timed out, just immediately get the "Unable to connect" error. So I am wondering, if there is a way to either fix the IP conflict without accessing the interface, or how to access the interface and then how to fix the conflict. [code]

My modem seems to be bad (my thoughts) the twc says it is working perfectly however i do not think so. about 2 weeks ago it stopped working with our router. i have since tried 2 other different routers on it linksys g (the original) linksys b and, Netgear g (brand new never been out of the box) none of these routers would connect to the internet however if i hook directly to the modem internet works fine. Is there a way to tell if this is a problem with the router or the modem.
