I've just moved in with my partner and tried to connect my PC to hers through a wireless connection , but it is not picking up the dongle . My PC used to be a dial up connection as no cable were i lived.

When I try to sign on to my school internet service it says CANNOT CONNECT TO DNS SERVER 10.85.1.10. I have tried to diagnose and everything and still have same problem. View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with my home network that I'm unable to fix:I have 2 laptops (Lenovo and HP) both connect to the wireless network and show up as Local & Internet connected on the Windows 7 OS. Both can ping to an outside network with domain names but no pages open on the browser. There's no error displayed on the browser, the page just tries to keep loading. When I connect both these laptops over the wire, I'm able to browse through all pages easily. I also have 2 phones connected to the same wireless network and I can browse over internet without any problems.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a HP pavilion p6736f-b. It has wireless capability. It has wireless lan 802.11b/g/n. I know personal it can connect to the internet because I have done it before. Now when i try to connect to the internet it shows that no networks are available. This problems goes away when I use my wireless adapter and it can find my network name fine and I can connect to the internet. I want to be able to use my computer wireless without any usbs since it goes faster and I also use plenty of usb so I dont have the ability to always use a usb for my wireless adapter. I think the problem might be connected to me connecting my xbox 360 manually setting the ip address default gateway etc.

Xbox live connected via through the netgear router(access point), works great. Now i just recently bought a power cord for an old laptop, charged it, working fine. Its a Compaq laptop, with a vista OS. My problem is not finding the router and/or connecting to it. I just cant seem to access the internet. It shows local connection only with an unidentified network, but it shows my routers name(LOTUS). There is alittle red X in-between the unidentified network and the internet. I pulled off the ip config/all on the vista laptop.

When we have both laptops running we can browse online okay but if one of the laptops starts downloading something or even loading a video or big web page the other laptops connection will not work it. It says its still connected and finds no problems but no pages will load. I also have problems when I download anything. When I try to open a webpage in the inter net it says its a DNS error but I don't know. When i connect a computer directly to the modem it works though. They are both HP with Windows Vista.

She has a netbook that can connect to the wireless and a desktop that's plugged in from the wireless router. When she tries to connect to the wireless, it says it's connected but shows no internet access in the Network Sharing Center.
I tried plugging it in directly from the router and I get the same message. I've made sure to enable the wireless and have even uninstalled and reinstalled the latest driver for the card. It's an Acer laptop with the network adapters Atheros AR5B95 Wireless adapter and Atheros AR8152/8158 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller.
I have even brought her laptop to my house and tried to connect via wireless and a direct cable, but I get the same issue.
On my laptop, the wireless will show, "currently connected to my router", yet it says below, "there is no internet connection"...I have already replaced my router and modem recently..still no change...I'll reset the router and i'll have internet access for 30 minutes and it will log me off.
