I have a gateway with windows 7 and was working fine and a couple of weeks ago it will no longer connect to the internet. I have always used the wifi connection. The wifi signal is a orange computer and on my other computer when it is working it is typically green, so I am not sure what this orange color means, if anything.

wMy Gateway notebook won't connect to the internet even when directly connected to the router. When I ran the diagnostic, it said to reset the modem. When I went into Device Manager, there was no modem listed. I did reset the wireless adapter- to no avail

The idea is for HomeB which has a dynamic IP, to reach HomeA, which has a static IP and connect. But they just wont. I have not clue what's wrong, I followed the instructions, maybe i miss interpreted something. I could share the VPN logs for both., Im getting a lot of errors there.
I'm unable to connect to the internet from my laptop. When I do a diagnostic test it tells me that the default gateway is not available. I've tried resetting it, resetting my IP address via command prompt, restarting the router, etc.

But the wireless modem light is blinking steadily. It used to keep a connection before but now I keep getting the error the default gateway is not available about every ten minutes while connected which of course is very frustrating.
I've tried updating all associated drivers but apparently that hasn't changed anything. I've tried restarting the computer and tried different connections. I know its nothing to do with the internet connection I'm trying to connect to as other devices are able to keep a connection with no issue.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had to restore my laptop yesterday and i reset my router (WRT100). I ran all the Microsoft updates, but I didn't do anything with the router other than going to the Linksys site to try to make it secure. My computer seems to be recognizing the router (although it is still saying it is an unsecured connection) but I cannot get on the internet. The problem seems to be when I pull up the Network Connections window the "Internet Gateway-Internet Connection" is showing disabled. I cannot enable.Everytime I try, it says "connecting...Connection failed!". I can plug the ethernet from the modem to the computer and it works and the "Internet Gateway" doesn't appear, but when I try through the router it does. I want to set up the router because I have two computers that need internet access.
Three connections are listed--Wireless Access, LAN, and 1394 Connection. All are listed as connected, firewalled.The second computer is also giving me a problem. There is the wireless issue, but when I connect the ethernet from the computer directly to the modem I am asked if I want to connect via Broadband and am asked for a username/password. There is no username/password. I've contacted my ISP (Cox cable) and confimred there is no password.
I have my E1200 connected to my Netgear FVS318 router (which is a wired router) and the Netgear is connected to the internet.When a wireless client attempts to connect to the internet after automatically receiving an IP from the E1200, they do not have internet access as the default gateway that gets assigned is the IP of the E1200 192.168.2.100, which is not correct. It should be assigned 192.168.2.1, which is the IP of the Netgear router. Thefore, I have to manually set their IP addresses to use 192.168.2.1. How do you configure the E1200 to assign the correct Default Gateway IP to wireless clients who want to use DHCP?

We have AT&T (DSL, not cable) and it used to connect just fine but then I moved out, left everything plugged in exactly as it was and when I came back it wouldn't connect.It connects to the LAN but not to the internet. When I go in cmd to type ipconfig the DNS suffix is blank on that computer but says gateway.2wire.net on my wireless laptop. I eventually disabled UPnP on it because that's what alot of people were saying fixed the problem but it didn't fix anything. I previously had a 2Wire modem that could connect with my Mac desktop and Toshiba laptop without issues.Now my Mac is up and running wireless on the new gateway (no problem), but the laptop (Windows 7) is not connecting and Windows troubleshooting goes not resolve the problem. It will connect via Ethernet but ATT could not get it on wireless. The ATT tech signed on the the laptop and could not get it done.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've got two RV082's connected. Each has a dynamic IP (changes typically every few weeks). I've configured the tunnels on both ends with a local and remote "Remote/Local Security Gateway Type" of "Dynamic IP + Domain Name(FQDN) Authentication".If I look at the VPN Summary tunnel status, it shows an IP address of "mydomain.dyndns.org 0.0.0.0" under the "Remote Gateway" column heading. The Tunnel Test "Connect" button is N/A.I can resolve both of the mydomain.dyndns.org entries on both sides of each VPN using the Diagnostic DNS lookup tool within each router. If I hardwire a fixed IP address for the Local and Remote Gateway everything works just fine. VPN is good.
I just can't seem to get the "mydomain.dyndns.org" function to work. It appears the router can't resolve the dynamic IP from the domain names on each of the routers.
I replace our aging rv082 routers with wireless rv220w routers. The gateway to gateway vpn works great, however I am no longer able to manage our print servers port 80 management page. I can ping any host with success, and I can manage hosts that have a port 10000 or 8000 web interface - but no port 80 ones... I had no issues when using the old rv082 routers...
View 0 Replies View RelatedI picked up a pair of RV220W's and before I spent loads of time at a remote site, I figured I'd go through some VPN testing at home to make sure I could get it setup properly. What this means is I've plugged the Internet uplink into a switch, then from the switch into both routers & configured them (using unique static IP's for each) from there. For what its worth: While I have some IT experience, I don't have strong networking experience.
I setup several VLAN's on the local RV220W, and the end result is to make it so that an asset at the remote site with an IP in any of the ranges (192.168.121.0/24, 192.168.131.0/24, 192.168.141.0/24 and any future VLANs) can communicate with/access resouces at the local site. Likewise, an asset at the local site with an IP in any of the ranges (.121, .131, .141 + any future VLANs) should be able to reach the remote resources (currently just 192.168.181.0/24, but future VLANs as well).
This evening I tried to focus on the relevant VPN pages of the Administration Guide to get the VPN up. Leaving the defaults I got as far as establishing a link between both sites and it seems that things are working right: From the remote site (.181) I can access the local site (.121, .131, .141); and from the local site I can at least ping resources (a laptop) on the remote site. (Yay!)
However, when I physically connected an asset that had a 192.168.121.X, 192.168.131.X and 192.168.141.X IP addresses to the remote RV220W (which is 192.168.181.0/24), I couldn't see it from the remote or local sites.I assume this is expected. But I'm reaching out to the community to see what other possibilities might be available becuase networking is a weak area for me. I figured it might be something like a Static [or Dynamic] Route but I really am not 100% sure.

Basically, I'm using a broadband modem, which appears to be connecting fine, with all the required lights being on. My ISP says that, from their end, everything is perfect. Even my laptop shows Local Area Network as connected.However, for some reason, I am not able to access the internet. I was able to use it till last evening, but suddenly the internet stopped working. On Google Chrome, it says that there is no DNS or something.Subsequently, when I tried to access my modem settings, it shows as 'webpage not available'. I then noticed that there is no default gateway! I was able to access it the day before, but now I can't.

I configured the Gateway to Gateway VPN exactly as it was before but none of the three other RV082's will connect. I have tried deleting the connections several times to no avail.
