Linksys Wireless Router :: How To Change Passphrase On WRT160N V3
Sep 17, 2012A few months ago, I purchase, installed and configured a WRT 160N V3. And I couldn't be happier. I now would like to go back and change the passphrase that a user needs to enter when they connecting to my router. Currently it uses the default value. And I would like to make it a bit more friendly. I found a number of postings dealing with setting retrieving or changing the Admin password.
But I was not able to find anything on changing the “passphrase”. There probably are a number of postings on the subject, and I simply overlooked them.

I connected the Router to the modem, and all the wired connected PCs were working perfectly.But then, i went to the setup page to configure the Wireless settings, and as soon I changed the SSID name, the connection internet connection droppedThe only way i had to fix this was by making a Hard Reset.after that, I also tryed changing values and settings from all the configuration tabs, and the wired connection was working properly, but as soon i changed any value from the Wireless tab, the internet connection dropped (even, in the diagnostics section, i could not do a ping to google. It says unknown host).

I followed all instructions, but it returned to the original setting each time. Quick reset.Power cable disconnect for 60 sec.Factory reset followed by a reset of the router for 60 sec.Clearing my browsers cookies and internet temporary files.Only things I have changed is the Basic Setup to get connected to my ISP and the Wireless settings.

Jul 8, 2011I just got a WRV 210 wireless router (three of them actually, planning to set up a VPN). But I can't set the admin password. I've tried 4 times, and every time, i've got to hold the reset button to reset to factory settings in order to access the management pages! I enter the new password in both fields, and then click to save the settings. It restarts. Then i try to log in - and it doesn't accept the new password. It doesn't accept the default password. I've tried with admin/(new password) and (new password)/(new password), and admin/admin. None of them work, forcing me to reset router to factory settings. I've tried a password composed of 6 letters followed by a . Thinking that maybe the . was throwing it off, I tried 6 letters followed by 3 numbers. That doesn't work either. I've updated to firmware version 2.0.1.5. No luck.

Mar 17, 2012I have an E2500 router. When I enter 192.168.1.1 as a web address I am asked for a User name and password. When I do not enter anything for user name and put “admin” in password the screen again asks me for the same two things and eventually goes to a 401 message.
When I enter admin in user name and my secure password to allow devises to connect to the network it lets me in. I thought the password to enter the system settings and the one to enter the network are usually separate. When I open the Cisco Connect program and go into the various menus there my “secure” password is written and visible for anyone who clicks it. Is this how it is supposed to work?Also, how do I occasionally change the password to enter into the network.
