I have a WRT160N that I've been using with my HDTV for months. Now I want to connect a BluRay player to it, but the setup requires me to enter a security code, and the one I had for the router doesn't work. Can I change the number, or at least double-check the number I do have?

I now would like to go back and change the passphrase that a user needs to enter when they connecting to my router. Currently it uses the default value. And I would like to make it a bit more friendly. I found a number of postings dealing with setting retrieving or changing the Admin password.
But I was not able to find anything on changing the “passphrase”. There probably are a number of postings on the subject, and I simply overlooked them.

I connected the Router to the modem, and all the wired connected PCs were working perfectly.But then, i went to the setup page to configure the Wireless settings, and as soon I changed the SSID name, the connection internet connection droppedThe only way i had to fix this was by making a Hard Reset.after that, I also tryed changing values and settings from all the configuration tabs, and the wired connection was working properly, but as soon i changed any value from the Wireless tab, the internet connection dropped (even, in the diagnostics section, i could not do a ping to google. It says unknown host).

View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently upgraded the firmware on my wrt 160N v3 and changed the wireless security to WPA2 Personal from WEP (I needed to do this to get higher speeds from a recently purchased wireless adapter). Now the router stops transmitting a signal intermittently for about a minute before coming back on line. The time between droppages is also not the same. Before the firmware upgrade (and the change in security settings) the router was rock solid. Where I can get the older version of the firmware (which seems to be more stable than the current version)?

I want to make a dedicated server with UT3.I tried many things like disabled all security in the router or disable UPNP, fowarding every ports that Unreal Tournament need or DMZ settings. I am running a batch file to start the dedicated server... but still have '' Nat is now strict'' in the log of my batch file. I cant see my server in the master server list inside the UT3 game. I tried to make the server without my router, directly connected to the modem and then it works instantly.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had a WRT160N v3 for a couple of years, and I've noticed that the wireless security setting is often set to disabled when I go into the configuration, even though I've set to enabled previously. It goes like this....
I've setup the router to have WPA2 Personal security enabled, with a passphrase. I have several devices that use wireless that connect to it everyday. I recently received a new device, so I went into the Linksys configuration to get my passphrase, and the Security is set to disabled. So, I enable it again, configure a the device, and have no problems.
This has happened many times. I just happen to be in the router configuration and check the wireless security tab, and it is set to disabled.
My first thought was that maybe there had been a power loss (although, I can't remember the last power outage we had in my area). However, every other setting was retained, so I can't see why this would be the only one that changes (and it's a rather important setting). Additionally, I was configuring a blue-ray player last night, trying to see if it was better with a wired setting from another Access Point, and the setting was disabled, so I enabled it again. I made changes to the BR player, then changed it back to a wireless connection. I checked the security setting on the Linksys, and AGAIN it was disabled.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys E1000 wireless-n router. I bought the router originally so I could get my Nintendo DS on Wi-Fi. I then realized that DS games require a WEP Key, but my E1000 defaults to WPA/WPA2 mixed mode. My laptop and my Wii connect online with the default settings just fine. My 3DS also seems to be able to connect with the internet router, but not Wi-Fi, for some reason. So when I'm on Cisco connect, I go to Router settings, it brings my web browser to "http://192.168.0.1". From there I go to the Wireless tab, and then click on Wireless Security. I've tried multiple times to change the Security Mode to WEP, and even disabled security. But after I save the settings, the connection on my laptop is lost, and I have to reboot my router all over again, and am back with the default WPA/WPA2.

It looks like TIVO only does WEP, not WPA. I get into the wireless page of the router and when I try selecting anything but "WPA Personal", the selected choice flips back to "WPA Personal" in less than a second. I have spoken with samsung and followed their reconfiguration instructions which did not work. They suggested something was wrong with my blu ray player. I've been unplugging modem and router, whenever I am not online, but when I am online and the invader is also, everything is very slow. Our network however is spread to France as well where another WLC is located. Now, the AP can not be convinced to connect to the German WLC. Despite our efforts (e.g. manuel IP configuration, reset to factory defaults) we don't manage to bring that AP to the German network - this is by the way the only AP, all other approx. 200 work just fine.
