Security / Firewalls :: Can't Change Password On Linksys Router
Jun 22, 2011
I've been trying to remove an invading computer from my network. My ISP told me to change the password on my router. I followed all instructions, but it returned to the original setting each time. I've been unplugging modem and router, whenever I am not online, but when I am online and the invader is also, everything is very slow. At one point I was not even able to get online, as I got the error message that another computer was using my IP address.
Is there a way to get the password from one laptop, so I can enter it in the other one. I thought there was a way to make it visible, but I can't remember.
how can I set password for my wireless internet? I used to have one, but today I have fully restarted modem and router to factory settings, so password is gone. Now I'd like to set it up again, I have TP-Link router.
I have a concern about my system. I am running Win XP Pro on my computer and when it boots up and I log in, it takes about two minutes with the internet first, AVG following and windows firewall last amongst other apps.Is there a way that I can increase my loading speeds plus changing the bootup sequence so I don't run high risk of infections from trojans or malware?
I am currently running a Windows 2003 Server Edition and I have an issue, we run a small piece of software for controlling the nights takings which connects to the tills database on the network. This piece of software is not password protected and is held in a safe, however it has come to our attention that an employee may have taken possession of a copy of this application and we need to block the application been run on the network. Now this is were it gets difficult, I know to stop the application I could just use the Software Restriction Policy with Hash Rules which would solve that. However the problem is that sometimes people WILL need to run this software on the network and not get blocked. These people may not have their own accounts etc so I am trying to workout a way that we can allow someone to bypass the software restriction policy with a password prompt, is this possible or is their another way around this issue?
How to reset the admin password on a tumbleweed appliance. My company just purchased a building, and the previous tenant left behind a bunch of equipment.
Our office has three networked computers. 2 xp pro desktops and 1 xp media edition laptop. When I set up Access to work with all three I found somewhere that said that xp media has to have a password for that configuration. I'm hoping that was wrong. We backup from the Laptop (Media) to a desktop (XP) and it is currently requiring a passwordThe 2nd destop does not need a password to use shared folders on the main computer. The laptop (media) asks for a password the first time I try to connect to the main computer. I'd like to eliminate the need for a password. I have double checked the settings for gpedit.msc and the "limit local account use of blank passwords" is disabled
I am tying to block a certain website on my WRT54GL Linksys router.I have put in MAC adresses on the Access Restrictions tab but its still not working.
I want to know how to change the Router Password. I have two computers running XP connected to my WRT54G; one via cable and the other wirelessly. I'm using WEP security. The router setup defaulted to "admin" for the Router Password; I'd like to make it a stronger password.
I have just received this device from my deceased son-in-law and I need to know how to change the password. I do not know his and have no way of getting it.
I have a brand new TMG Installed and setup some rules. But i need to have one wireless router for a special office which should not be filtered by TMG. How can i setup TMG rule and the wireless rounter to not be filtered on TMG ? The linksys wireless rounter should also NOT ask for domain authentication.. it should allow directly access to outside without any authentication.
I have a Linksys WRT54G router.I am trying to set up my internet connection so only my approved MAC Addresses can connect.I set everything up. I purposely excluded my laptop from the list to see if I did it right and I guess I didn't because my laptop is still able to connect to my network.
I just got a WRV 210 wireless router (three of them actually, planning to set up a VPN). But I can't set the admin password. I've tried 4 times, and every time, i've got to hold the reset button to reset to factory settings in order to access the management pages! I enter the new password in both fields, and then click to save the settings. It restarts. Then i try to log in - and it doesn't accept the new password. It doesn't accept the default password. I've tried with admin/(new password) and (new password)/(new password), and admin/admin. None of them work, forcing me to reset router to factory settings. I've tried a password composed of 6 letters followed by a . Thinking that maybe the . was throwing it off, I tried 6 letters followed by 3 numbers. That doesn't work either. I've updated to firmware version 2.0.1.5. No luck.
Windows 7, WRT54G2 router. How do I change the default Linksys password from "admin" to something of my chosing? I appear not to have the Setup CD. Router is working well but it still has the original password.
I have a Linksys E1000 wireless-n router. I bought the router originally so I could get my Nintendo DS on Wi-Fi. I then realized that DS games require a WEP Key, but my E1000 defaults to WPA/WPA2 mixed mode. My laptop and my Wii connect online with the default settings just fine. My 3DS also seems to be able to connect with the internet router, but not Wi-Fi, for some reason. So when I'm on Cisco connect, I go to Router settings, it brings my web browser to "http://192.168.0.1". From there I go to the Wireless tab, and then click on Wireless Security. I've tried multiple times to change the Security Mode to WEP, and even disabled security. But after I save the settings, the connection on my laptop is lost, and I have to reboot my router all over again, and am back with the default WPA/WPA2.
I have a WRT160N that I've been using with my HDTV for months. Now I want to connect a BluRay player to it, but the setup requires me to enter a security code, and the one I had for the router doesn't work. Can I change the number, or at least double-check the number I do have?
I'm trying to change the wireless security mode on my folks' WRT54G to see if I can get the wireless adapter on their new TIVO to talk to the router. It looks like TIVO only does WEP, not WPA. I get into the wireless page of the router and when I try selecting anything but "WPA Personal", the selected choice flips back to "WPA Personal" in less than a second. I've updated the firmware but no change.
Trying to secure Linksys WRT54G V8 wireless router. Can't change security mode from 'Disabled'!?
I followed this Post from EXPERT: "Connecting two routers wired - the definitive answer"

I got the two routers working but the second one (not using it as a router) is not allowing me to change security mode from "disable" to WEP or anything else. The following Post didn't answered this issue: "Can't change wireless Security Mode on my WRT54G V5"
My WRT54G Router has been reset after severe weather conditions, the wireless in now unsecure. I am trying to change it back to secure mode under wireless / security wireless, but it does not allow me to do so. The security mode remains disabled and does not change to WEP or WPA.
How do I change the username password in the router settings for the linksys ea4500? It only lets me change the password, I cant find an option to change the username.
This is for a E1000 model router.I recently downloaded Cisco Connect. It wants my router name and password. I don't know the password. How can I find the password or change it? The password might still be the default, but "admin" does not work.
