I have a Linksys WRT54G router.I am trying to set up my internet connection so only my approved MAC Addresses can connect.I set everything up. I purposely excluded my laptop from the list to see if I did it right and I guess I didn't because my laptop is still able to connect to my network.

I would like only to allow those devices that belongs to the domain, meaning if a user connects a computer or any devices that concerns network which I have not allowed the mac addresses, it will be denied access to the network. However, any of the allowable devices could able to use any port of the switch, meaning I dont want to associate an allowable Mac Address to a physical port on the switch.

I followed all instructions, but it returned to the original setting each time. I've been unplugging modem and router, whenever I am not online, but when I am online and the invader is also, everything is very slow. View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to IT, and have been put in charge of managing our servers hile my boss is on vacation.We currently have a Sonicwall Network Security Appliance that handles our Firewall/VPN and have web content filtering set in place.I have a user who belongs to 2 CFS policy groups that we have set up. I've double checked with Active Directory, and he is a member of both groups.
This person SHOULD have access to Job searches/ and Restaurants,but receives a "content blocked" message on his browser.It appears to me that the settings in Sonicwall are correct, as well with AD member groups.
I am trying to connect to a Security-enabled wireless netowork. I have the key. My problem is that I can't seem to figure out how to enter it. When I try to connect I open the "view available networks"window. I see the network name and it shows a strong signal (all 5 green bars).

I keep clicking the dropdown menu, and when I choose anything BUT disable, the security auto-sets back to disable. I have rebooted the router. I have rebooted the modem. I have changed my router's password.How do I turn my WEP back on without it just saying. Also, for additional notation, my US light on my modem is no longer green, it is orange since this issue has occured. Is there any connection that might be related to this?

It looks like TIVO only does WEP, not WPA. I get into the wireless page of the router and when I try selecting anything but "WPA Personal", the selected choice flips back to "WPA Personal" in less than a second. I've updated the firmware but no change.

My current set up runs perfectly but the problem is, I have other devices in my home that require a WEP security key. My Airport Extreme is running on WPA but I don't want to lower it's security to WEP just for those devices. What I'm trying to do is create another separate network which has a WEP security key (Linksys WRT54G). The Status on the 54g does not show an IP address from the WAN(cable modem)If I connect the cable modem directly to the computer(wired) I can get online no problems. I can also access the 54g through 192.168.1.1. (wired)But if I connect the Cable modem to the 54g....no Internet This was my bootup.

I have checked and I have the correct IP address of 192.168.1.1. I can ping the router and everything hooked up to the router is now working correctly. I was having problem with the router losing the internet ip address and having to turn everything off and then back on to connect to the internet. I reset the router and it seems to have corrected that problem but I now can not pull up the router's ip address. I have tried in Internet Explorer and Firefox. I have tried typing thebefore the ip address but it will not pull up. I have read countless posts trying to trouble shoot and figure out what's wrong with it and nothing will work.

So I have to figure out what the IP Address is of the printer then modify the printer port on the PC to point to the correct address. If this only happened rarely or if I could easily remember the steps I have to take to remedy the situation, I guess this would not be such a big deal. But it happens a lot and I'm old and alzheimery. So my question is: how do I get the router to assign the same IP Address to the printer all of the time?
