View 10 RepliesI have set up access restriction times for my son (we have wireless access for all systems). I use the MAC address on his systems. Xbox, Kindle Fire and his Laptop. The MAC address are Correct. Here is the problem:
I set the "allow" and times from 6pm - 11:00 pm (while on xmas vacation) - the system works for a while he is shut off as i would like but....
After a period of time the entire house goes off line. I have to reboot the power on e2000 router and then disable the access restrictions. System then works. Problem is repeatable. What is the deal. I have updated firmware already. Otherwise the system works great. Never dies. Just when i set access restricions for a SPECIFIC time it kills entiore houese. BTW i can deny him outright 24/7 and the system idsables his access fine. Its just when i set specific times

View 2 Replies View RelatedI suspect that he did something and gained remote access to my computer.I found out about it when I checked my wireless connections on my router and found his name on the network : Steve's - Iphone and a couple of unfamiliar connections. I then opened my task manager and ended some tasks I thought were possibly infected. When I went back to the wireless status, the unfamiliar connections disappeared.
I use Norton firewall + kaspersky internet security and my virus definitions have always been up to date, but I cannot detect anything. I also set my options to permit only MAC authenticated computers and changed my wireless WPA/WPA2 key, but every time I turn my wireless on, this guy somehow is connected to my network. [code]
I recently upgraded to a new wireless access point with wireless N and still have the old G one. Wireless access point plugs into computer with 2nd ethernet port configured to give access point internet. Then, the computer would manage access to the network, restrictions, firewall for the access point and so on.

FTP works fine.I have noticed that on the disk page in the Shared Folder Area when you click on the Summary, the box with Groups With Access is Empty. Whereas on the FTP area in the same summary it clearly mentions the admin group.I have tried every thing including factory reset, hard reset, using new group, new user name etc..The technician from Linsys even spent an hour on my computer and ultimately he gave up and gave me number to contact technical support.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI just bought this Cisco E2500 router last night. I was able to set new pass phrase and name (SSID). I then proceeded to add wireless computers to the router-no problem. had 1 computer I couldnt set up because the person was sleeping. So this morning I go to set up their computer, and found the name (SSID) on the available networks. I clicked on it, and it connected right away WITHOUT ASKING FOR THE PASSPHRASE!!!!! NO ONE put the pass phrase in this computer before. I checked the connection-and sure enough, there was the passphrase right there on this computer! So HOW did this computer, that I hadnt ever tried to connect to this new network before- suddenly get the passphrase as well? if anyone in this neighborhood can just connect to my network and automatically get the passphrase like that-then I need to take this back and get a refund!! That isnt secure at all!

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am with Virgin media (UK) and have the 20mbps fiber optic connection. My area has recently been having problems with the broadband and Virgin has recently fixed these problems. However I used to get around 19mbps now that the problem is fixed my computer which is wired to the router gets about 0.4mbps downstream... However the 5 wireless computers all get 16mbps which is pretty good for them. Windows tells me that its a firewall issue and I currently can't use two programs, spotify and steam. They both have firewall issues, even if I turn off my firewall which is the windows one. I also have avast, and when I turn that off, still no good. I used OpenDNS, stopped using that flushed my DNS, that didnt work. I tried to optimize my computer settings, by changing various values in Regedit. All of this has done nothing. I should add that I have recently re-installed Windows 7 so on this fresh install it has never had decent internet speed. Which I thought was weird.. I have basically had these problems since the fresh install. All of my drivers are up to date.
