View 3 Replies View RelatedI am getting very slow download speeds on my wireless router (Linksys model#WRT160N). I measured it on speedtest.net. with my ASUS laptop, ASUS Transformer Prime tablet, and 2 Ipod touches. All similar speeds.
-Download avg: 1.30 Mbps
-upload avg: 6.20 Mbps
I measured my desktop speed that is hardwired through the router to the modem.
-Download avg: 30.00 Mbps
-upload ave: 6.20 Mbps
I have scanned all the wireless connection in my area and found them to occupy channels 1, 6, 11. I tried changing my channels one at a time for all 11 channels. Some did a little better than others but not a lot. Also, if I buy a dual channel router, can all wireless devices pick up on the 5GHz spectrim and if so, could this alleviate some interference? Is it possible that my router is going bad and a new single channel 2.4 GHz router will be fine? jasonmac73 has chosen the best answer to his/her question.Click here to view the answer that was selected.
I was just online when all of a sudden i lost connection. I have a WRT54G V8 and did a quick little browse and found out it could be corrupted firmware. When i download the firmware it wants to download as a .bin file and open VLC Media player!? How do i change this or what do I need to open it with?
View 7 Replies View RelatedV2.0.26.124551 is now available. I did the online upgrade and it took just a couple of minutes including the reboot. The firmware is not available as a download yet for manual install. This firmware is dated 11/14/11 so it doesn't appear to correct the Port 53 issue reported earlier.Release Date: Nov 14, 2011 Firmware version: v2.0.26 (Build 124551) - Support for the WAN L2TP and PPTP protocols

View 1 Replies View RelatedI was playing with the router/gateway settings on my WRT54G v3.1 router.... and I managed to hose it. I tried power cycling/ resetting it will not route my traffic through anymore...although i can still get to the setup menu.I am trying to download the firmware to flash it but.
A) the site says that for this v3.1 router I need to use the ancient firmware 4.21.1 and
B) the link to the firmware does not work !!! it downloads an empty zip file url...
linksys support, if you are listening, please restore the link to the firmware so I can try and fix my router.
I have searched the forums, and can see that I am not the only one with speed problems on this router. When I changed from a D-link dir-615 (yeah, no wonder I changed it ) my download speed dropped from 4-5 MB/s to 1,3 MB/s. I'm using a wired connection. Have tried disabling QoS in router settings, did a firmware upgrade, reset the router. You see, when I do speed tests on the internet I get 40-50 mbits download, 25-30 mbits upload. I have tried many different files to download, both torrents and through my browser.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Belkin N300 router. When a computer is hard-wired to the router, I get about 26Mbps, but all of the wireless devices in my house are limited to about 56kbps. I tried logging into the router to see if there was something "choking" the connection speed, but nothing really jumped out at me. Is there a setting of some kind that could be causing this?
I do have a signal repeater since my house is so big, but there is nothing within those controls that would seem to have that kind of effect either.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried all the speed test sites and tried downloads with and without my EA2700. Every test shows about half the perfomance when connected through the router. My speed tests at speedtest.net with a direct connection are in the 21-26Mbps range, the same tests run about a minute later through the EA2700 fall in the 10-12Mbps range with spikes up to 17Mbps.I've reset the router and modem.I've gone back to the 1.0.14.129982 Firmware (which it's currently on)I've set the MTU everywhere from 1400 to 1500 (literally EVERY setting for at least a couple of hours) it is 1492 currently. None of these have worked. In addition, when a large stream starts, such as a Steam download, I will lose ALL connectivity. Going in to Network and Sharing and clicking to connect to the internet restores the connection, no need to reset any hardware (which is odd in itself). I have had MANY routers over the years and I've all but exhausted support with service provider as the connection is solid if I eliminate the router.Main machine is a Windows 7 Home edition Total of 5 machines, 3 of which see regular use All machines go through a Trendnet 16 port switch and performance is the same direct or through the switch I m on Brighthouse in Central Florida and have all but exhausted their support.

View 3 Replies View Relatedlink to the original v1.0.0 firmware for the E4200. That was the best firmware for me and sadly I can't find a link to go back. v1.0.0 really had no problems for me. I initially skipped v1.0.1 becuase it disabled IPv6 which is a feature I want. v1.0.2 broke my YouTube and Netflix streaming. So I went back to v1.0.1 and my Netflix and YouTubue steaming returned to normal but I lost IPv6.
Any solution to Netflix and YouTube streaming problem on v1.0.2 when IPv6 is configured. (I'm positive the video is streaming over IPv4, but the IPv6 connectivity is available.)
my Linksys E3200 router is somehow slowing my internet download speed by a lot. Direct wired connection from computer to modem gets me around 200Mbps download speed, but if I connect thru my Linksys E3200 router (wired connection, not wifi), the download speed goes down significantly to ~70Mbps. The E3200 is only connected to the modem and my computer (i.e. I have unplugged all other devices from the E3200 router). Are there setttings in the E3200 that can potentially cause it to limit the speed or could this be caused by something else?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just setup an EA4500 last night and found the downlaod speed became 1/10 of my previous E3200 before. View 6 Replies View RelatedI am considering the e4200 Vs the Asus RT-N56U router -- if " download master" type of functionality possible with the e4200 ?(Its a little app that comes with the asus router that allows you to download files directly to the USB storage even after the computer is switched off)
Could I do something similar with the e4200 ?
I have an E1200 that will work fine for a while, then suddenly the download speed for all wireless devices will drop to between 20-30 KB/sec. It happened last night when we were watching videos on Hulu. We were blazing along fine, when all of a sudden the connection was horrible enough that we had to stop watching. We have no idea what changed - there are only two of us in the house and we were both passively watching Hulu.
This has happened before, and usually changing something like the wireless channel has fixed it, but not this time. The PCs we have that are connected to the router via Ethernet get between 1-3 MB/sec, so I know it's not the modem or the ISP.The signal strength is good (4-5 bars). I have tried repositioning the router and the wireless reciever but that hasn't worked.I have the latest firmware for the router as far as I know (v2.0.02).
I have tried every channel available (including "Auto"). I have tried switching the Channel Width between Auto and 40 MHz. I have tried resetting the router to factory settings and re-uploading my configuraiton. I have tried setting QoS.
I have WRT160N router and am not sure if I have a connectivity problem or a setting issue. I've done a speed test with speakeasy.net and get fine through the hard wire desktop (25.16/3.77) but when I do it on my wireless laptop I get 2.03down / 3.66up. The speeds were basically the same right next to router as it was 40' away.

But one feature which i feel isn't there on linksys is the ability to start downloads on the router and also peer to peer capability such as torrents. View 5 Replies View RelatedI have this router now for one week to replace my old WRT54G router. Installing and connecting the router works fine although i don's see the 5ghz band. The main problem is that when i am downloading with Newsbin Pro from the newsgroups the internet connection for browsing or E-mail is closed, while the download still continues. When i close Newsbin pro the sites which i choose (and were on hold) opens immediately. With my old router (WRT54G) i could download and surf at the same time without any problems. I already spoke with the support line of Linksys but he was saying it was a problem with my wireless adapter. I've tested it with a cable in my laptop and than the problem didn't occur.
