View 1 RepliesI have provided a service tag below. A friend has an old Latitude C600 running Windows XP Pro that was formatted and we are trying to get it to pick up a wireless router. It has the following in it...
1. mini card... 3com 3C556 (CN-06f553-48361) 2. 3Com Integrated Fast Ethernet Controller 3C920 (3C905C-TX)
Service Tag:
Windows automatically found and installed drivers for both devices after the format. We even tried drivers from Dell. We can get a hard wired connection, but nothing wireless. We get TWO Local area connections showing up in the systray... Local Area Connection 3 and 4. The card is detected in the bios. A 3Com diagnostics program (3Com NIC Doctor) from the Dell site says the NIC is ok, but the "Run Network Test" fails... that is obvious if we can't get a wireless connection. So why then doesn't it pick up any router? If the drivers for it are installed and it's recognized in hardware shouldn't it automatically pick up a router? This has to be something really simple that we are not thinking about.
I have toshiba c600 a259 with core i3 processor. the laptop is great but it has one big problem with the network wireless card.. everytime i try to connect to my home wireless network the computer freeze and i have to press the power button to turn it off. however i tried connecting to another network somewhere else and it worked fine. There is nothing wrong with the wireless network router because other laptops can connect to this network. my toshiba also can connect to interrnet if i plugged it directly to the router. My wireless network card model is: atheros AR9002WB-1NG

I have found a wifi card Intel wifi link 4965AGN MM2, but i can't install it. It has something to do with the fact that is Toshiba branded? With drivers from Intel after some time the laptop goes black screen and i have to restart it.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. I have a problem accessing my home network which is not showing up under the "Connect to a Network " list. I am able to see my neighbours' networks and can access my own network with my phone, tablet etc. The driver is up to date according to Windows and is functioning correctly. I reinstalled the OS yesterday and the wireless was working fine last night. To the best of my knowledge, nothing has been altered.

Messing around with it to get it to connect has worked so far but I can't figure it out this time. It's says its connected but when I pull up my browser it has the "server not found" page. I've trying restarting it, resetting the router, and disconnecting and reconnecting.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI know the wifi in the laptop works, i know the laptop has no issues.I know this because i switched my hard drive from my 1330 to this laptop which is also a 1330...connects and works fine.Wifi IS turned on In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse. So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a Ethernet connection and it would not connect either. When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remember this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.

Hooks right up to their system, no problem. However, when I get home, it will not link back up to home wifi. It will also disengage the desktop computer from the wifi as well.Even if desktop is off, it will not link with home wifi.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAt the moment the Wireless Router is located in my bedroom which is 12 meters from the living room where the phone line is. I basically have one phone line extension from the telephone line to my bedroom where I've plugged in the ADSL filter. The modem part plugs into the actual router and the telephone line is then extended back to the living room with a second extension cable. This is because my PC is in my bedroom. Problem with this is the fact that there are extension cables get in the way when moving furniture around and also hang from the ceiling in the corridor. What I'd like to do is have a WiFi dongle for my PC and move the router to the living room. Now my second problem is that my phone gets a very weak WiFi signal once you go to the living room so I imagine if I moved the router to there then I would barely get a signal in my bedroom. I have two options to solve this:
(1) Use a WiFi extender in between my room and the router and then a dongle for my computer
(2) Upgrade my current G router to an N router. Problem is I'm not too sure the signal will reach my room. There's a 12 meter range from the living room to my bedroom btw.url...
WiFi-N or WiFi-B/G I have a Dell P513w Inkjet Printer and am upgrading my printer firmware to the latest release. How do I determine if I use firmware version WiFi-N or WiFi-B/G when updating? I intend to upgrade to a dual band router and would like to replace the 1000 with a 6300. I need an extra antenna for the 6300, as I do not have a WWAN or Tv tuner fitted, is it possible to utilise the spare antenna for the 6300? If this is possible, I have read about white lists in the bios causing boot up error messages when using alternate cards, if purchased from Dell, will this be a problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWell this one should be in the "Firmware DOs and DONTs" post. I updated to FW 1.11 over wifi and apparently this will corrupt the camera so it needs serviving. Would have been nice to know that before I did it. Since the upgrade from 1.02 1030 I get this note:The throughput of the SD Card on your camera is not currently enough for recording. We suggest you to reformat the SD Card or replace it with a higher class one.

How do I replace it with a new compatible WLAN adapter to serve B/G/N all?
Upgraded my D620 WLAN card from original 3965abg to 4965agn for wireless-n support. The card is correctly installed (w/ 3 antennas) and the driver installed correctly but there seems to be a conflict with Dell Quickset utility which gives the error "WiFi Catcher band is not compatible". Tried uninstalling the Dell Quickset, but not sure it completely removed everything. Installed Intel PROset/Wireless but still unable to connect. Could not find a Quick set version for Win7 - from what I have read, it seems the Vista version is noted that it does not support 4965agn.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just updated my OS from Windows 7 to 8, and I bought a new Galaxy S 3. Nobody seems to be ready for Windows 8 functionality. I don't know how to find the bluetooth feature of my laptop anymore now that I have windows 8 installed. My phone scans for it, and can no longer find it.
I have connected my phone to the laptop, it installs the phone, but cannot find the photos and videos that I have on my phone, even thought there are tons of them.
I thought perhaps I could Bluetooth them to the laptop, but so far, it's been nothing but a frustrating morning trying to locate the bluetooth function, and Dell's website doesn't seem to understand that people actually upgrade their systems to Windows 8, so there's no support there as far as drivers go.
I've got an Inspiron 17R, conveniently out of warranty, service tag <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>.
