Dell 15r Laptop - Physical Wifi Adapter Is Not Installed

Sep 8, 2012

I'm using dell 15r laptop and intel wifi Proset (win7 32bit), it works fine most of the time. But today i have one issue with it, i received a bubble message at the taskbar saying that "a physical wifi adapter is not installed", when i opened device manager there was no network adapter showing in there, i also tried to reinstall the driver but it's still didn't work.

Dell :: Inspiron 15R - Physical Wi-Fi Adapter Not Installed

Jan 26, 2013

I have recently gone as far as restoring my computer to its "factory" state to try and combat this issue.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure there is much else I can do at this point - the issue has not been resolved.

I re-installed factory drivers for my adapter, then replaced those with updated drivers from Intel. I was 'alright' for a while, but have had to launch Device Manager to re-enable the adapter, or restart my computer entirely because it failed to display my adapter at all. At this point, I get no result with either.

I have tried to 'recognize' the adapter as a new device (added hardware), but that didn't solve anything - it duplicated it in Device Manager and then displayed the yellow exclamation point indicating it needed new drivers - I attempted to update but it displayed an error, so I ended up uninstalling the duplicate.

At this point, I feel like it's the hardware that is the problem, and not my computer's ability to recognize it. Though I have been able to connect to my network in the past, its ability to function would be patchy, at best, if I could get it to work at this point. Should I try to reset/replace my wireless card, or is there something else I can try?

My 'network card' is fine, according to a diagnostic, and my Bluetooth works fine.

Dell :: Wireless-N 2230 / Physical Wi-Fi Adapter Not Installed

Mar 25, 2013

I purchased an Alienware M17x R4 about 2 months ago and it was working perfectly until yesterday. After using it for a while, it disconnected from the WiFi, and after restarting the laptop I got a pop up message saying a physical WiFi adapter is not installed, meaning I can no longer use my wireless connection, but only a cord. Going to device manager, I did not see the wireless hardware on the list of network adapters (Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 2230 With Bluetooth 4.0), however it is still listed for the Bluetooth. I have already tried reinstalling the drivers, system restore, dell diagnosis (which says there is no problem), AlienAutopsy (which also said there is no problem) and scanning for hardware changes from the device manager, none of this has fixed the issue at all.

Wifi Stopped Working / Says Adapter Not Installed

Feb 19, 2011

I turned on the monitor (I had left the system running) and it said that it had recovered from an unexpected shut down. It didn't automatically connect to the wifi, so I opened the connections window to connect to a network and it said "Windows cannot find any networks." I refreshed several times and nothing happened. I clicked the option underneath "Diagnose why windows can't find any networks," and it came back with "This computer does not have a wireless adapter installed and configured." I then opened up the device manager, and under network Adapters, the only thing is "Intel(R) 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection." I checked it out and it says it's working properly, and I believe that this adapter is for when you actually connect a cable directly to the PC.

Wireless Physical Adapter Keeps Disappearing?

Aug 6, 2011

I've had a strange problem with my laptop for quite a while now. From time to time, my entire wi-fi capability vanishes. The green wi-fi light goes off and my Intel PROset/Wireless tells me that I do not have a wireless physical adapter installed. From there, I go to Network Connections. Sometimes, I can hit "repair" under Local Area Connection 3 and after some struggles, the green light will come back on. However, sometimes when I go to Network Connections, I cannot repair the Local Area Connection, because the 1394 Connection is no longer even listed and, from all ways of searching, doesn't even exist on my laptop. In that case, I have to restart my laptop. Sometimes, a restart works and the wi-fi capability magically returns. Sometimes a restart does not work, and I have to power off, wait, and power back on my laptop. And sometimes, I have to keep rebooting SEVERAL TIMES in a row before I get wi-fi back.

I'm not sure what to do for it, nothing has changed with the router or the location of the router. My laptop will be fine for a couple of weeks, or I may lose wi-fi ability a couple of times in a week or so. However, at the moment, I lose my wi-fi adapter frequently, often every two minutes to perhaps every ten minutes. It has "acted up" this badly only once before (probably a month ago), and I just keep rebooting for a couple of days until everything seemed to calm down. However, I can't keep just restarting my laptop every five minutes

Add Wifi Adapter To My Laptop If Internal Is Bad

Nov 26, 2011

The wifi card in my laptop may be bad. I can find a network but cannot connect. It says that signal lost, but source is in same room and works with other laptops. Can I just add a external USB WiFi adapter to bypass my internal one?

External Adapter Can Connect To Wifi But Laptop Can't

May 4, 2012

I've been having a problem with my wifi for a month or so. I used to connect well to my wifi, but then one day my laptop just can't connect to it anymore. It says "windows was unable to connect to" or something similar to that. But what's strange is, I have an external wifi adapter (Tenda 802.11n, it looks like an USB flash drive). I use this adapter to connect to Wifi with the very same password, and it can connect perfectly. Signal strength is around the same level.I tried using windows troubleshooter, didn't work. I borrowed my friend's laptop (which is very modern, and have windows 7 - mine has windows XP), but the same problem exists: the laptop can't connect, but the adapter can.I also tried to export the wifi settings to an USB flash drive (using windows 7's function), and installed it on the laptops. Didn't work. [code]

Dell :: Inspiron 1525 Laptop Wireless Adapter Compatibility

Aug 26, 2012

I have Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop, which I bought 3.5 years back. The laptop used to work fine before. I just shifted home 1.5 month back. Previously I used to have the wireless router always close to my laptop, so I never realized this issue. Now the wireless router (802.11n) for Fibre optics internet is in the ground floor and my studio is on 2nd floor. In my office latop, which is a new one, I get 3 out of 5 signal bars and get 34-56 mbps signal. But my Dell laptop does not get any signal, but when it is closer to the router it works fine.

if I buy an USB network Adapter device which is n series and supports upto 300mbps signal, then will it improve the situation? If yes, then which devices are preferred and how can I know whether that new device is compatible with my laptop settings (as this is a bit old one) or not?  If not, then how can I improve the wireless reception? I have tried with booster etc already. I have also updated the network adapter drivers.the wireless card I have is: Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN minicard?

Dell Xps M1330 Laptop Windows 7 Wifi Won't Connect

Jul 20, 2012

I know the wifi in the laptop works, i know the laptop has no issues.I know this because i switched my hard drive from my 1330 to this laptop which is also a 1330...connects and works fine.Wifi IS turned on In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse. So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a Ethernet connection and it would not connect either. When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remember this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.

Dell Precision M6600 - Wireless Doesn't Turn Off Via Physical Switch

I have a laptop here that I can't seem to turn wireless off on via the switch. While the obvious choice is hardware failure, it's nearly a brand new Dell Precision M6600 and I hesitate to jump to conclusions.

The physical switch on the system will not toggle wifi on or off; it is always on. I can disable it via Windows (Win 7 Pro), or simply disconnect from the network, but when I do it does not remember the wifi passwords, which may be a separate issue.
