I have had to re format vista and reload my WiFi. My internet connection using an ethernet cable to my LAN works ok but when the ethernet cable is removed and I click "connect" I am asked for my security key or passphrase. How do I find this information or preferably remove the request for it?
My wife has a laptop that we want hooked up to the internet through our linksys wireless router. But I cannot remember my security key or passphrase needed to get her on the connection. How do I recover, or find, it?
Friend has an older 2wire home router & has no idea what the security key is to allow me to add my laptop and work at her house. How can we retrieve it.
Where do I find the security key for the router as there are a series of numbers on the router and the box. Which one is the security key as it's not identified as such?
I recently upgraded the OS on my laptop to Windows 7, which wiped out most of my older Vista settings. When I try to connect to my home network, I am prompted for a security key (network key?). How do I find the security key? I can't find any of the paperwork that came with my router.
By the way, I am currently using my desktop, running under Windows XP.
I have a Dell Inspiron I got last July that has Windows 7.It had been working well but the started to say there were no Wifi signals.. when I knew there was from the other computers and such. I would start up diagnosis and it would fix for say half hour, then I would do it again and each time only for a short time, reducing each time. The same happened when I disabled or even deleted and reinstall programme the wifi adapter (which it always had a pop up saying it didnt do it properly). It also keeps saying to plug in to wifi which works but doesnt solve the wifi issue.I even had my father in law who was an IT guy look at it and no clue.I am desperate to get it fixed as I have lots of assignments to be getting on with.
I have a hobby network at home, the structure of which follows:*Modem * - active SPI firewall -- Then the E4200 distributes data via wifi to/between the following machines --*Server - providing services such as http, FTP, VPN, Mail, MySQL, OpenDirectory, Plex media server, etc.*Two other workstations that access their user details/settings from open directory on the server. Now the purpose of this network other than providing standard access to Internet services from within the LAN is to provide access to the services maintained on my server to users on my LAN when they leave it/go mobile. Now with my limited knowledge of networking I have been using port forwarding to direct service requests through the firewall, however I have found with the E4200 that I have a limited number of custom port fields to use (about 15) which is extremely limiting when I have as many potential services that my server can provide.I could move the Server to a DMZ but then dosen't that put all my other services that have no need to be exposed at unnecessary risk.Do I need to invest in a separate hardware firewall and put it after the modem and before the router?
I set up my daughter's Dell laptop last year to our WRT54G wireless router and I'm trying to connect to our wireless network now with another laptop (a new Dell) and can't find (or remember) my security code or pass phrase. Is there any place on the old laptop that I can access this info? How can I configure the new laptop without this info?
Just purchased an Asus K532-BBR9 laptop. Everything works fine, except on college campus the internet is very slow, and disconnects every few minutes. My fellow students laptops do not seem to have this problem.I figured it may be a driver issue, so I am trying to update everything.Under Network Adapters in Device Manager. The Microsoft Virtual WiFI Miniport Adapter is not up to date when I do a driver update scan. Then it says "Windows can't verify the publisher of this driver software.." with options to install anyways.
I recently upgraded my Wi-Fi router to an EA3500 and am controlling it using Smart Wi-Fi running on a wired Windows 7 machine. So far, I have been able to add devices to the network without issue and each of those connections works fine. All, except my TV, have been Windows 7 based machines. Smart Wi-Fi Device List has been able to "see" each device and I have been able to add them to that list as well.
I am attempting to add a Windows 8 desktop computer to the network which is using a external USB wireless adapter. That computer can see and connect to the network through the EA3500 and the connection seems to work fine. The only issue is that its adapter does not show up in the Device List.
1) Does the Device List do anything else besides showing a list of devices I chosen to add to my network?
2) How do I get my Windows 8 wireless adapter to show up in the Device List?
I need to re-configure the passphrase configured on my HP printer. How do you run the wireless network set-up in order to re-enter my wireless network WPA security passphrase?
