Mar 16, 2011I have a passphrase for my router that I need changed but I don't know how. I was told that if anyone knows my phrase word that they can access my router.

Linksys Wireless Router :: How To Change Passphrase On WRT160N V3
Sep 17, 2012A few months ago, I purchase, installed and configured a WRT 160N V3. And I couldn't be happier. I now would like to go back and change the passphrase that a user needs to enter when they connecting to my router. Currently it uses the default value. And I would like to make it a bit more friendly. I found a number of postings dealing with setting retrieving or changing the Admin password.
But I was not able to find anything on changing the “passphrase”. There probably are a number of postings on the subject, and I simply overlooked them.

Aug 21, 2011I have a Linksys E1000 wireless-n router. I bought the router originally so I could get my Nintendo DS on Wi-Fi. I then realized that DS games require a WEP Key, but my E1000 defaults to WPA/WPA2 mixed mode. My laptop and my Wii connect online with the default settings just fine. My 3DS also seems to be able to connect with the internet router, but not Wi-Fi, for some reason. So when I'm on Cisco connect, I go to Router settings, it brings my web browser to "http://192.168.0.1". From there I go to the Wireless tab, and then click on Wireless Security. I've tried multiple times to change the Security Mode to WEP, and even disabled security. But after I save the settings, the connection on my laptop is lost, and I have to reboot my router all over again, and am back with the default WPA/WPA2.

From my main pc I can see one of the laptops and vice versa, but cannot see the second laptop even though it is on the same network. They are all running win7 64-bit. I can't get the laptop on the same homegroup. I reset the router but I have the same problem. If you go to the router's web page all 3 pc's are detected. If I wire the laptop directly to the router you can see it on the network, just not wirelessly.

When I run the Shield Up test to see the status of my ports the ones I want to open are closed which is normal but when i try to portforward any port the status goes from closed to stealth. That really does not make any sense to me why when trying to open a port it becomes even more secure then if I did not try to open it. I've called my ISP (Brighthouse) and went through a whole process of bypassing the router, restarting the modem for 2 minutes, and restarting the router for 30 seconds. Then I even got assistance from the router's maker (Linksys) by switching the IP address of the router, they said this could be the issue if my modem had the same IP address. I switched it to 192.168.2.1, but still no luck. I do not know what to do now. The new router is a Linksys E1000. I haven't got the specs of my modem yet.
