My laptop was able to give me full bars in my room now i dont even get 1 . i have to go right up to the router for full connections , and now i'm forced to be in a certain position in my room for a lousy 2 bars . I've confirmed it isnt my router. and i am positive i dont have external problems . I'm running windows 7 on a gateway LT32 netbook.
View 1 RepliesI had an XP machine using a wired connection with a Linksys WRT54GS 2.4GHz router. The only things connecting to it wireless were my wii and my PS3 which were in the next room, less than 15feet away. I purchased a Windows 7 machine for my wife for Christmas, and gave the XP machine to my kids. I moved the modem and router into the kids playroom, and set the Windows 7 machine up for wireless. Now the router is at one end of the house, and the 7 machine is about 45 feet away. The signal strength was never an issue until last week, and now the PS3 and the Win7 machine constantly have weak signal or no signal. I don't know a whole lot about networking. I am willing to move the router and modem to a central location as a last resort, but would like to keep them with the XP machine for our kids to use.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFor the last 4 years I’ve been using the Linksys Router, model WRT150N V. 1.1 and never had any problems—until now.Yesterday I noticed that my wireless devices (i.e., two computers, tablet and Internet radio) either don’t work at all (the Internet radio) or the pages load extremely slowly—for example, the tablet has become, for all intents and purposes, unusable. Since my ‘main’ computer is connected directly to my cable internet, I know that there is nothing wrong with the Internet connection itself, only with wireless connection.I disconnected the Linksys Router for 2 minutes and reconnected it, but to no avail. I know that I have not made any changes to any software/hardware that might affect the speed.Since I also happen to have access to another wireless Internet connection (a different provider), I connected to that network and all my wireless devices were working perfectly. Therefore, I think the problem must be with the router. I am using Windows XP (on the main computer, where the router and Internet cable are attached).

I can access the same modem with my Netbook (wired and wireless) so I know the modem is working. I can access the Internet with the Gateway anywhere else ( my home and my work) but it will not connect to the owners modem. I've ran the network trouble shooting software and it doesn't fix anything.

But the wireless modem light is blinking steadily. Otherwise the netbook is working OK - it even seems to boot up quicker than it used to)(I would reinstall the OS but it didnt come with OS DVD or a DVD drive ; so I didnt create a backup when I bought it. View 1 Replies View RelatedSo recently I've gotten a new laptop, but now when I try to connect to out wireless internet from my room it has an extremely weak signal and will constantly suffer from constant disconnects and spikes in latency. Occasionally it causes web pages to load incorrectly and makes games unplayable when they were fine before and videos will take a long time to load. The new laptop has a different network adapter ( Intel Centrino Advanced-M 6235 ) and has Windows 8 installed instead of Windows 7 like my old laptop had. The problem happened both when using my router at my house and one at my friend's house which uses an entirely different router. The problem seems with my laptop and not specific to any one router.When trying to ping google.com it will usually stay at around 31ms but will occaisonally jump to around something much higher like 300ms or so for a few pings then go back to normal. If trying to do something like playing a game then it can start shooting all the way up to over 1000-2000 and will sometimes just have the request time out. [code]
View 9 Replies View RelatedRecently I bought a ASUS G Series G53SW-XN1 to replace my old laptop and it uses a Atheros AR9002WB-1NG wireless network adapter to connect to my network. On my older laptop I can get the full download speeds on my network of 500-600 kbs, but on my asus I can only acheive between 70-120 kbs. There should be little to no interference between me and my router and it sits only about 15 ft behind me.
My router is an old linksys wireless router which only transmits a B signal. I know wireless B is considered slow but it works perfectly fine for what I use it for and it works on my other laptop.

When I use my phone turning on WiFi, it was able to connect to that wireless network and get internet. I checked my network work adapter and it was up to date.I even reset the laptop to factory settings and it still display "window cannot connect to (name of the network)" when i try to connectDetails are the router is a Cisco linksys E1000 router which the network is W2psk-psk. View 10 Replies View RelatedI have a year-old Sony Vaio laptop which connected to the internet without any problems on my BT Homehub connection. However, I recently moved in with my girlfriend who has a Virgin media connection and, although I can connect to it without problems, it is extremely slow (around 0.30 mbps) whereas my girlfriend's laptop is fine (9.74 mbps), we both have iPhones which are also fine therefore I'm pretty certain the problem lies with my laptop. I have tried updating the wireless card's drivers (windows tells me they are up to date) and I've also tried disabling my Norton 360 but it didn't make any difference.

My wireless internet connection on my laptop. The connection seems to work fine on other laptops in the flat. It works on mine too. Then after a short time the internet connection fails and the laptop says it's unable to connect to preffered wireless network, and unable to detect any wireless networks (usually there are others around too).The amount of time before this happens seems to be getting less. I have cheched that the radio switch on the side of the laptop is on.

However, when I am home, my laptop runs extremely slow, sometimes taking several minutes just to open a simple program like the calculator. Web surfing is useless even with Road Runner. Any way to make this faster?
I go about removing the computer from the network and would that fix the issue or would I need to wipe the whole thing and start over?
I have a dir-655 xtreme N gigabit router with 2.03NA version firmware. The wireless signal will suddenly and randomly disappear from my laptop. I checked the properties of the network connected it remains on the same channel when it reconnects so I figure it's not a channel issue.I have reviewed this forum for hours and have made many changes to my settings, but nothing seems to keep the wireless signal from stopping.

laptop not finding any wireless network Suddenly....and the hardware(dell wireless 1702 802.11b/g/n) not recognized suddenly it was working then start to lose signal sometimes then stopped ....i removed the driver software and re-install but nothing changed.

Windows Device Manager tells me the device is working normally. The WiFi switch is on but the WiFi catcher doesn't find any networks. I can connect to my home network with an Ethernet cable and my desktop, which is on the same network, can connect so i know its not my modem or router.

Other computers in the house have no problem detecting and connecting.Wireless is enabled, it happens no matter how close or far from the router. The network is set to broadcast the ssid, etc. I have not changed any settings on my laptop or router, this has suddenly started happening. Have updated drivers to no effect.Occasionally, the network pops up when I re-start the laptop. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Studio 1557 laptop (purchased in late December 2009) that all of a sudden has lost wireless connection to the internet. Went to use it last night (Thursday) for normal use and no wireless connection at all. Before this issue, there were no problems connecting thru wireless at all...in fact used it Wednesday evening for work/surfing and no problems whatsoever. We are using a Linksys 160N router...have 2 other computers and 2 iPod Touches that are connecting just fine, absolutely no problems. It can connect thru a wired connection with no problems but nothing thru wireless...this is a fairly new router, about 10 days old, but haven't had any issues with it since set-up.
I didn't have much of a chance to do anything about this last night or this morning. I really don't want to bother calling Dell Support either.

View 16 Replies View RelatedI have a Gateway MX6124 laptop. I used the System Recover disk that came with the machine. After a complete reinstall (twice), the wireless feature is not found. There is an idicator light that goes on and off when using the F2 key.
There is no Windows Mobility Center choice from the start menu. Needless to say, there is no wireless icon to access and trouble shoot. It's like the wireless is turned off even though the blue light is on.
My Gateway laptop has stopped sensing wireless signal. It was working just fine a few hours ago, then after I pulled it out of hibernate it stopped sensing the signal. I have switched the button off and on at least 3 times, tried restarting and turning off and starting. Have also tried the Fn-F2 a number of times but still no luck.

This morning my internet was unreliable, and dropping every minute or so. Trying to trouble shoot, I switched the router off then on again. Now I have no wireless signal between my laptop and router. The router doesn't seem to be recognising the security password. I have not changed the password - this is still the original password for the router. Other devices are still talking wirelessly to the router.
I use a laptop and recently the wifi has stopped working for me. I can still connect completely but it says with "limited access," which results in me being unable to access the internet at all. The rest of the computers in the house work fine on the wifi and I double-checked the securtiy settings (WAP2 and all that) and it seems fine. What can I do? Tethering to my phone allows me to get on the internet and the computer connects successfully, but no websites will load whatsoever.

Network troubleshooter finds problems with both cable and wifi adapter, and everything is fine on device manager, and but nothing shows up on ipconfog/all command. I am using a tplink router and it's working fine as as I'm currently typing this on my mobile.
