My wife and I are visiting a church which is allowing us to stay for a week with them so fiddling with their router may not be much of an option. Here is what's going on.Both laptops are running Vista 32My latp top, a compaq, has easily connected to their internet. My wife's laptop tried to connect but cannot. Once you try to connect, in about 2 sec you get a "Windows cannot connect to ......" Once you diagnose it says "wireless authentication failed."
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis Dell Latitude D800 shows connected to my network with an IP address and DNS information matches my home computer - I cannot get connected to the Internet unless I put in an IP address. I've run a TCP/IP utility to reset the catalog and all settings. Looked at the hosts file in Start/Run/Drivers - etc folder/hosts, and the last line shows 127.0.0.1 localhost
It was part of a domain when I first started working on it, and I'm trying to get it for use just as a personal PC. It connects to a dock, and that's where the Internet connection is. I've tried wired and wireless, both show connected. I can ping the computer's IP address, the gateway, and the router, and any other IP address out on the Internet that I have tried.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have not been able to connect to the wireless connection. I have had some trouble with this in the past when booting up, but usually I can manually select our wireless network on my own and it works fine. But since last week, I have not been able to connect at all. On the Wireless Connection Status, it showed Limited or No connectivity. I tried the repair button in the Wireless Network Connection Status Support tab, and that told me that I cannot connect because I could not renew my IP address.I have tried a few different things, such as doing an ipconfig /release and /renew. Schools coming up, and itd be nice to have internet access on the laptop as well as our desktop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy computer stopped connecting a few days ago. It had been working great until then. I have two other computers in the same wireless environment and they are working great. I've done all the preliminary checks and had all the settings checked by Comcast (my internet provider) but they were not able to evaluate the problem without cost. I've been unemployed for the last two years so I need to find another option to correct this issue. Every time I attempt to connect, windows says that they are unable to renew the IP address. Limited or no connectivity is shown. I've also noticed that If I leave the home where I'm trying to connect, I'm able to connect to outside sources like Wayport or any other network without any problem. My router is a Linksys Model #WRT320N. It's working just fine with the other computers in the house. I tried cleaning out all my "preferred networks" in the wireless Network Connection Properties but that didn't work either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just rebuilt my network and I've encountered a problem with my wireless access. Right now I have a Dlink 2540B modem/wired router. To that is connected an 8-port Dlink 2208 Switch and a Linksys WRT110 wireless router. All the desktops connect via ethernet to the switch and everything is working fine. I just added the WRT110 and specified it would be a secondary router on the network but as soon as I got it connected it killed my internet. I assumed this was because of DHCP being enabled, which was true once I logged in and looked. I of course disabled it and now the internet is back up on the wired portion and I can connect to the wireless router as well. But the only problem now is that my wireless devices are not being assigned IP's at all. Specifically, my Mac says "airport has a self assigned ip address and will not be able to connect to the internet"How are IP's assigned to wireless devices that connect to the network via a wireless router with DHCP disabled?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI came home yesterday to find that I couldnt connect to the internet, I called my isp, and they said i'm receiving a full signal, but my computer just isn't communicating with my modem. The ip address is 0.0.0.0. Of course the isp can't do anything with this problem, and since my computer is past the warranty, neither can microsoft or hp (not for free anyways). The person at Qwest (isp) said I might have to "reset my netcard"

So I understand I can simply plug my Linksys to power and that will pick up the signal inside our house (which it does, and we get an excellent strength signal).I further understand that I have to configure the Linksys so it talks to the modem provided by the ISP and which is about 50 metres awayFrom the Cisco website and my own docs I know the first step is to search the IP address online [url].,..

I have a wireless 5508 with license base to 50 aps, i use a deployment flex connect. I already registered all my access points, I use web authentication to authenticate users guest, and the service dhcp is in the central site.
My issue is the users in each remote site, can not get an ip address by dhcp from the central site, they can authenticate in the guest ssid, but any users can not get an ip. The request is passing by the wan in this way
Central Site DHCP - Router WAN - Remote Site - Users with notebooks. I use flex connect central deployment (all the traffic consulting to the wlc) .
perhaps i should use local deploy? The wireless is in the central site.

I am having a rather annoying problem. I run a small hotel (just 3 floors) and my modem gives a strong enough signal to provide wireless access to everybody in the house however I'm finding that a lot of people, whilst they can connect to the modem, cannot browse online. Connection just times out when they open their browsers.Recently a guest gave me his laptop and asked me if I could do anything with it. I'm by no means an expert when it comes to this kind of thing so I chanced my arm by putting his MAC address into the CP's Wireless/MAC Filter page. He connected immediately and was able to go online much to my relief.
Thing is, I don't want to have to do this for every guest that comes through my door! Is there any way everybody who has a laptop can connect without me manually entering their MAC addresses? MAC restrict mode is set to 'disabled' but I thought that would allow everybody unrestricted access?
We have a Cisco Aironet 1242 AG Series which we are trying to setup. The DHCP assigns the IP address, but we cannot connect to it. We have had this problem with a previous Aironet unit, which this new one we have got now is also having the same problem!Everything seems to be correct, but we cannot get to the IP address to set it up.
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have an ASA 5505 configured with internal network, a DMZ, and a VPN on seperate subnets. The implicit rules allow my internal client computers to connect to the web servers on the DMZ IP, but I can not connect to the public NAT address from the internal network. I have a DNS server on my internal network and it does resolve to the public IP correctly. NAT seems to be working correctly because if I go outside the network and connect to the public IP or qualified name then I can get to everything correctly. I do not see any messages in the Cisco logs and the packet trace tool shows the route of http from an internal IP adddress to the external (NATed) address is allowed.
Specifically, I can go to http://192.168.1.121 from the internal (192.168.0/24) network, but I can not go to http://72.22.214.121 (the NAT address) from the internal network. If I am outside my cisco then I can go to http://72.22.214.121 easily. [code]
