The software host needs it's "External IP address" I have my internal IP address. I pinged the printer and got my internal IP address instead of the printer's. I am on a home wired network running through a modem and router.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a network printer which is connected to unmanaged switch, then unmanaged switch is then connected to one of the slots on the router (to get internet access). I use the program Free IP Scanner to look for the IP so then I can find the IP address of my printer. Then I would go to Port setting of the printer and change. Every week or month I have to do this. Two things I would like to know:
1. I have a 2003 server which is not connected or active yet. it's just sitting there running but no computers or printers are connected yet. How do I make this to be a printer server and solved my issue of having keep tracing the IP for my printer?
2. If not using the server, how would I setup my printer IP address to be permanent?
I can usually solve most problems given enough time but after 4x hours work I have admitted defeat.I need the Mac Address of my Wireless printer so I can set mac filters for our laptops and printer. The printer is an HP F4500 all in one wireless printer.I managed to find out how to print a configuration page but there is no ip or mac address on it.Tried Ipconfig /all on the laptop and it only lists the ip and Mac address of the netbook.Phoned HP twice. wasted half hour being transferred all over the place then told to check their tech website. Nothing on their website about obtaining mac address naturally
View 8 Replies View RelatedHP wifi printers (I've had 2 over the last several years)eventually have a disconnect with my wifi router and was told (by an experienced IT guy from my last job) I should assign the printer a static address to eliminate the problem. How can I assign a static address to my printer. Here are the models Router: Belkin model F5D9231-4v1(01); Printer HP Officejet 6600. I know how to access the printer and manually enter an IP address and subnet and such, I just don't know which numbers to use where. I also know how to access my router, via typing in the IP address in Internet Explorer, but i'm unsure of which tab within the router's page (i.e. is it category wirelessunder MAC address control) or which numbers (IP address or MAC Address)and where should I get the correct numbers from (i.e. go run, cmd,IPconfig/all).

View 1 Replies View RelatedMuch of the time my wireless printer is offline relative to computers on my LAN because the IP Address has been changed to some value different than what the computer thinks it should be. So I have to figure out what the IP Address is of the printer then modify the printer port on the PC to point to the correct address. If this only happened rarely or if I could easily remember the steps I have to take to remedy the situation, I guess this would not be such a big deal. But it happens a lot and I'm old and alzheimery. So my question is: how do I get the router to assign the same IP Address to the printer all of the time?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know how to go about this but basically i have a cable modem connected to a router which then connects to my 3 pc's. (file/printer network sharing and stuff setup via the built in windows wizard). and i have a printer plugged into one of the pc's. (all using windows xp)they can all use the printer just fine.i got this NEW pc(windows 7), which is not physically connected to this router. instead, i set up a wireless connection to it. (a wired connection is not possible)internet access also works fine.BUT, i just realized that i think file/printer sharing it cannot do. i think it's because even though it can use the same internet it's on it's own wireless network and not the wired one. so i guess they can't communicate with each other? so i'm wondering. how can i get the wifi pc to talk to the non-wireless printer
