View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a network printer which is connected to unmanaged switch, then unmanaged switch is then connected to one of the slots on the router (to get internet access). I use the program Free IP Scanner to look for the IP so then I can find the IP address of my printer. Then I would go to Port setting of the printer and change. Every week or month I have to do this. Two things I would like to know:
1. I have a 2003 server which is not connected or active yet. it's just sitting there running but no computers or printers are connected yet. How do I make this to be a printer server and solved my issue of having keep tracing the IP for my printer?
2. If not using the server, how would I setup my printer IP address to be permanent?
I can usually solve most problems given enough time but after 4x hours work I have admitted defeat.I need the Mac Address of my Wireless printer so I can set mac filters for our laptops and printer. The printer is an HP F4500 all in one wireless printer.I managed to find out how to print a configuration page but there is no ip or mac address on it.Tried Ipconfig /all on the laptop and it only lists the ip and Mac address of the netbook.Phoned HP twice. wasted half hour being transferred all over the place then told to check their tech website. Nothing on their website about obtaining mac address naturally

How can I assign a static address to my printer. Here are the models Router: Belkin model F5D9231-4v1(01); Printer HP Officejet 6600. I know how to access the printer and manually enter an IP address and subnet and such, I just don't know which numbers to use where. I also know how to access my router, via typing in the IP address in Internet Explorer, but i'm unsure of which tab within the router's page (i.e. is it category wirelessunder MAC address control) or which numbers (IP address or MAC Address)and where should I get the correct numbers from (i.e. go run, cmd,IPconfig/all).

View 1 Replies View RelatedMuch of the time my wireless printer is offline relative to computers on my LAN because the IP Address has been changed to some value different than what the computer thinks it should be. So I have to figure out what the IP Address is of the printer then modify the printer port on the PC to point to the correct address. If this only happened rarely or if I could easily remember the steps I have to take to remedy the situation, I guess this would not be such a big deal. But it happens a lot and I'm old and alzheimery. So my question is: how do I get the router to assign the same IP Address to the printer all of the time?

We had no success.Last weekend we tried to get David's Win7 laptop and Win7 desktop to share the Internet connection that his desktop has. No success again. At the moment each computer lists the other one in its "My Computer" page.he TrendNet Wi-Fi software in the desktop indicates that it has 100% signal strength from the laptop. Both computers are set to "Home" type networks. We can start a Home Group on either computer but cannot get the other one to join - an error is reported. We use the correct password when trying to join - the password displayed by the other computer when its Home Group is created. We cannot get the ICS service to stay started. After attempting to start it an error is reported that says "ICS service started and then stopped".

View 4 Replies View RelatedLast two weeks, I have had a problem connecting to public hotspots. My own WiFi network is fine, but while I am connected to any public hotspot I get the 'no internet access' message on the wifi symbol. While connected to my own network, ipconfig/all shows that I have an Autoconfiguration IPv4 address in the (correct) 192 range - but when connected to a hotspot, the address is in the 169 range, or occasionally (as in the instance below) in the 10 range. Clearly this is the problem, but I cannot figure out what has caused it. Is it hardware? Software? Malware? Or user error?I have run the Wireless Test and the log results are pasted below.

I would like to configure a Management ip address on 6500 by giving ip to the SVI. Following is the configuration done
1) int vlan X
ip address 10.1.1.1 255.255.255.0
no shut
However i am not able to reach this Switch IP from other subnet's. for ex:- 192.168.1.0/24.What next configuration should be done, in order to make this work. I dnt want to use any routing protocol.
In an IPSec port to DUT scenario, with Mode-Config set so as the DUT sends the IP address to the port, I get to a situation in which the DUT continuously enter the "Need config/address" state for the port, even if the port sends its ACK packet to every set IP address from the DUT.
The DUT is a Cisco 6500 Version 12.2 (33) SXI3, having Mode-Configuration configured to provide clients with IP addresses from a local pool. I enabled the "debug crypto isakmp" on Cisco, and below is an extract form the log file:
5d23h: ISAKMP:(80653):Need config/address /* My comments here: This is the first Address configuration message from Cisco to port */
5d23h: ISAKMP: set new node 1768971286 to CONF_ADDR
5d23h: ISAKMP: Sending private address: 94.94.0.164
5d23h: ISAKMP:(80653): initiating peer config to 171.159.1.113. ID = 1768971286
5d23h: ISAKMP:(80653): sending packet to 171.159.1.113 my_port 500 peer_port 500 (R) CONF_ADDR
5d23h: ISAKMP:(80653):Input = IKE_MESG_INTERNAL, IKE_PHASE1_COMPLETE
5d23h: ISAKMP:(80653):Old State = IKE_P1_COMPLETE New State = IKE_CONFIG_MODE_SET_SENT
above debug messages that Cisco produces I can not realize why Cisco resends the IP adderss configuration message for remote peer. Any other methods to use so as to get the reason behind this behavior? Or any explanation to the above behavior?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to establish EIGRP neighborships with my inside switches (3750s) over the "Internal" interface, shown in green. The outside interface is g0/0 and don't worry, I've ensured EIGRP is not running there. The problem I'm having is that I need to monitor the "Internal" link so that if it goes down, the ASA triggers the failover to the secondary firewall connected to the other switch. I was told that the "secondary" keyword was what enabled this:
interface GigabitEthernet0/1
nameif Inside
security-level 100
ip address 10.10.2.2 255.255.255.0 standby 10.10.2.3
This is fine since I am able to compare this config to the firewalls that are currently in production elsewhere in the environment and this is what's in use there. However, in order to run EIGRP all the way to the firewall and not rely on something else like HSRP for the inbound traffic, I'd like to run the corresponding links (Gi1/0/22) on the inside switches as routed ports (no switchport) so that I don't have to establish neighborships with SVIs or something like that. I want the routing to be done directly to the port, leaving the interfaces for failover and our DMZ set up as switchports, since those can be layer 2.It's saying the Internal interface has failed now, probably because it cannot send hellos through this, since it's a routed port on the switch side. I'm wondering if this simply is an impossible design, unless there's a way to track this interface and trigger a failover if it goes down using another method.a method that allows me to track that internal interface (Gi0/1) and trigger a failover if it goes down.
