View 11 Replies View RelatedMy IP address was stolen. Someone sent me a file that I was expecting. It had a very misconcieving title. I opened it and it wouldn't work, but I let it slide. A week or two later I found pictures of myself on a forum from a hacker. The file I had opened had been a virus that hacked into my webcam. This creep told me that this had spread to 1000+ people and they all had my IP address. I am so scared! If everyone has my IP address anything could happen. How do I change my IP address without it messing up other settings in my computer and how do I remove this virus from my computer?

View 0 Replies View RelatedI have a network printer which is connected to unmanaged switch, then unmanaged switch is then connected to one of the slots on the router (to get internet access). I use the program Free IP Scanner to look for the IP so then I can find the IP address of my printer. Then I would go to Port setting of the printer and change. Every week or month I have to do this. Two things I would like to know:
1. I have a 2003 server which is not connected or active yet. it's just sitting there running but no computers or printers are connected yet. How do I make this to be a printer server and solved my issue of having keep tracing the IP for my printer?
2. If not using the server, how would I setup my printer IP address to be permanent?

View 8 Replies View RelatedHP wifi printers (I've had 2 over the last several years)eventually have a disconnect with my wifi router and was told (by an experienced IT guy from my last job) I should assign the printer a static address to eliminate the problem. How can I assign a static address to my printer. Here are the models Router: Belkin model F5D9231-4v1(01); Printer HP Officejet 6600. I know how to access the printer and manually enter an IP address and subnet and such, I just don't know which numbers to use where. I also know how to access my router, via typing in the IP address in Internet Explorer, but i'm unsure of which tab within the router's page (i.e. is it category wirelessunder MAC address control) or which numbers (IP address or MAC Address)and where should I get the correct numbers from (i.e. go run, cmd,IPconfig/all).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been having considerably slow internet compared to the other guys I live with and decided to investigate. I have run the speedtest.net on a good chunk of their computer and they all get around 40 mb/s while I am getting 2 mb/s. I have figured out that when I go in and change my MAC Address, I am able to get the same speed that they do for a short amount of time, but after a while(I haven't figured out a time interval) my speeds go back to the 2 mb/s. I can then go back in and change the address again and the same thing happens. I thought I might have a virus, but the different scan that I have tried running show nothing and when I do netstat from the command prompt, nothing abnormal shows up.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI need to connect to my work PC remotely through VPN, but the address of my home router (Verizon Fios) conflicts with my work address. IT guy at work is clueless, so I am stuck - been trying with him for months and this is his solution. I need to change my address on my personal router, Westell brand, but I am having no luck. I have been told to use:
ID: admin
password: password
When I tried that, each time I press a key in the password field, it enter 4 characters... I have never seen anything like that. Honestly, I'm a graphic designer and am also clueless on networking issues.
The laptop can connect to the internet using the wifi card. However, it cannot connect to the internet when using the wired connection but it can be pinged from other machines at work. The NIC does not pick up a different IP address even after releasing and renewing the IP address through cmd. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the NIC. The NIC is working because when I set a static IP address the machine can connect to the net. Using DHCP it goes back to that same IP address. I have tried a winsock repair as well with no go, as well as taking the machine off the domain and re-joining it. Is there something I can do on my end to get a different IP address through DHCP or do I have to get a Network engineer involved? This is a machine on a corporate LAN?
