View 2 RepliesI seem to be struggling to connect more than 4 cameras to my (ISP-supplied) modem/router by Netgear CGD24N via WPS. I'm on my 5th camera now (already have 3x 930L and 1x 942L) but the newest 942L just won't connect to the network at the moment and there's definitely no faults here as I swapped cameras today at the local retailer (and got an A3 942L!).I've even tried connecting the camera to my wireless extender (Netgear WN3000RP) but no luck there.
So far it has only worked twice for short periods of time (enough for me to configure the cameras) but since then I can't actually get it working. I've got a couple of spare wireless routers lying around too and should be receiving a DIR-600 soon (from the Netgear promotion in Australia) which could be useful?
In the bottom floor there are three computers, an iMac computer that receives an average wireless Internet signal, desktop computer and a laptop.I want to take care of the desktop computer and buy a network card, the next card:TP-Link TL-WN951NNow it has three antennas, each of its reception range is 2 dbiI should buy three of the 10 dbi antennas and connect them to the network card?It will give a good solution strong wireless signal and good speed?

View 2 Replies View RelatedNeighbor agreed to let me use his WiFi connection only if it requires no changes or disruptions on his side. His signal is broadcast with a wireless router. I can currently see his signal broadcast on my laptop, but it's very weak.I have a omnidirectional antennae already mounted outside my house with a clear sight of view. It has a cable attached to it that terminates with a N connector inside my building.I need to connect to his signal (there are several being broadcast in the area) and then forward it to my router. My router will then provide connectivity to my home network. What hardware do I need between the outdoor omnidirectional antennae (that terminates with a N connector) and the wireless router inside my building?

So I just got this Etekcity 1000mW 802.11 B/G Long range High Power USB Wireless WiFi Network Adapter with 6dBi Antenna RTL8187L Chipset: Computers & Accessories I installed the driver on my windows XP then restart the computer.. However, when I try connnecting to my network the first thing it does is start connecting... it dosnt ask for the password. After attempting to connect, nothing happens. So, I set up my own network, type in the SSID and type in the password and its confirmation. It still wont connect I tried re-installing and repairing and nothing will happen..So I test it on my macbook pro and everything works fine.PS my windows XP cannot get internet at all so I cant download anything nor do I have a USB?

If it does by chance make a profit it would be donated to local community projects so we should be able to get support from local business and residents if the technical solution requires their collaboration.

whether it's possible to access information relating to 1 computer, from another machine that has previously connected to the same wifi network? For the first time I've connected my work computer to my home wireless network to work from home. When I return my computer to work, will they be able to see everything I've done on that home network using my personal laptop arous that time? My wifi network has WPA2 and has a password. I imagine the work computer would need some kind of logging software, how can I tell this?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an ADSL connection through Canal Digitaal, which I believe uses the KPN network. My Zyxel 2601 modem/router is usually accessed at 192.168.1.254. The following devices are connected to it: two iphones, a Macbook Air, an Apple TV 3 and a Mac Pro.all devices except the Mac Pro. Looking closer I found in their respective settings that they connect to 192.168. 2.254. All have somehow been assigned IP addresses on the 192.168.2.xxx network. The Mac Pro remains on the 192.168.1.xxx network.Going to 192.168.2.254 launches a login page for a KPN router called Arcadyan ARV7519 which is on ANOTHER SSID than my wifi network. Nevertheless, all my devices say they are connected to my network SSID but with IP addresses in the 192.168.2.xxx range.Does it have to to with the channels used by the respective routers or is there some phishing or such going on? What can I do to ensure that my devices stay on my Zyxel network?Weirdly, the SSID of the Arcadyan router doesn't normally show up in my list of nearby networks. It only shows sometimes. Also - in case it is relevant - when I try to access 192.168.1.254 from my Mac Pro I am able to log in, meaning I reach the welcome page of my Zyxel router though it takes a very long time for it to load.
View 7 Replies View RelatedLet me explain my current situation before asking my question:I have a Motorola Netopia7347-44 VDSL modem/router (with WiFi). The type of signal that I get from my ISP is analogue for phone, TV and intenet. This modem has an input for the Internet connection (dynamic IP address) and provides the IP addresses and connection for the other devices connected to it (via WiFi or cable), such as the TV over IP box, laptops, iPads and smart phonesI would like to implement content filtering on my WiFi network in order to avoid access to some websites, and my modem/router doesnt provide this feature (or at least I cant find it with my ISPs configuration) thought about using OpenDNS, but since I have a dynamic IP address and I cant install an updater on all the devices, then this solution didn work.
The next idea I have is getting a physical Firewall.Question: I am wondering if I can just connect the Intenet cable (that comes from the splitter between phone and Internet) to the Firewall, then I connect a RJ-45 cable from the firewall to my existing modem/router and should that be all (besides configuring content filtering on the firewall)? What should I take into account regarding the IP addresses? Should I enable the DHCP server in the firewall (I assume that most come with one), and disable the DHCP server in the modem?
have a home network setup that works completely fine everywhere in the house except one room. That room happens to be my son's room that has his Xbox 360 in it. He wants to play online but I cant get a signal back in there and if I do it is extremely weak. I have a linksys E2500 router connected to my cable modem that is wired ot one computer and then my 2 laptops connect to the wireless from that router. The Playstation 3 that is about 15 feet away works fine as well. All our ipods and iPhones work well too. It is only his bedroom where we run into trouble with any of these devices. I actually just upgraded to the E2500 about 2 months ago, so I have a Motorola WR850G sitting around. Can I use this closer to his room to lengthen my signal or how can I proceed to get him a better signal
